I thought Dash P.I. was going to be a cozy, where a little old lady and her dog solve whodonits, but when the subject of gender politics in 90s NYC came up in the first chapter, I realized that I was just judging the book by it's cover (or in this case, title).
This is actually 2 books in 1 (take that, reading challenge!), both starting a female detective in Greenwich Village, and her trusty sidekick pitbull. Both mysterious we're engaging and had interesting, well written characters. I thought the first story would make an excellent movie, either as a late 80s period piece, or set in modern times (if you could figure out how to update some technology related plot pieces). Overall, I enjoyed both books. Fun and page turning!

This particular book has two stories in one book. Not a new idea, having your dog help with mysteries, but well done.
