I have read all the books in this series and, frankly, am ready for the next one! Of course, having grown up on the north shore of Lake Superior and having grandparents who immigrated from Norway, I feel pretty connected to these people.
The books have progressed both by following core characters and adding both human and mythical beings to the storyline. I have enjoyed how Ingrid has grown to assume her leadership and developed relationships with a mix of friends and elders.
This latest book brings her relationship with Thorbjorn to a satisfying place with both understanding their path will not be easy. There is trouble coming to Villmark, and this book brings that message closer with more strange activities and illogical movement by those who are most often hidden from interactions with both Villmark and each other.
I liked this book. I like this series. If one is into mythology, relationships, murder, mayhem, and humor, I think you'll enjoy it as well. But, by the way, I have no idea how the cover of this book reflects anything about the books. I assure you Ingrid does not wear a pointed hat, fly on a broom, or wear striped stockings. She does, however, have a great cat.
