Stealing the Heart #1

Stealing the Groom

Friends don’t let friends marry the wrong woman…

Chad Walker may be a take-no-chances man with a plan, but there’s no way Amelia Snyder is going to let her best bud marry Mean Girl #1—even if the wedding is solely so he can secure the controlling shares in his family’s company. But free-spirited Amelia’s at-the-altar groomnapping scheme takes a surprising turn when she ends up as the blushing bride instead.

Suddenly, with Amelia living in her handsome husband’s home—in his bedroom, no less—she starts to reconsider their strictly platonic arrangement. But Chad’s always been anti-risk and definitely anti-love, and betting a lifetime of best friendship on the chance at forever might be the biggest gamble of all.

Update: FULL REVIEW! (Finally)

Opening Lines
“For the last time, you can’t steal a man!”
“Chad is my best friend—it’s not the same as stealing,”
Amelia Snyder whispered in response to her sister Ann’s
warning. Besides, how was she supposed to steal the groom
if he never showed?

The Good
I originally read Stealing the Groom back in July and it's taken me this long to write a full review, tisk tisk! For some reason there just isn't a whole lot for me to say about this book other than for the fact that I loved it to pieces! This was available in PDF format on my computer from NetGalley but I started it and then had to leave my house to run errands. Before I left I went back on NetGalley to re-download it for kindle so that I could read it on my phone. I went back and forth between the two until I finished it, I loved it that much that I just didn't want to be without the chance to read it! I couldn't think of one bad thing about it so 5 stars it is!! I only hope that my review makes sense!

Characters - I don't think there was a single character that I didn't like throughout this novel. When new characters were being introduced I never once felt like a character was being used as a filler, every character pulled and held their weight. Amelia is without a doubt my favourite character, she's hilarious, dramatic, impulsive, and just amazing!

I really liked how Sonya Weiss focused on Amelia's sisters, Abby and Ann. After the teaser we got of each of them and the guys who obviously had feelings for them I kept my fingers cross that they would each have their own books and I'm so happy that they will!!

Romance - I loved how oblivious both Amelia and Chad were to what was really happening between them. And once they both realized that they had "more than just friends" feelings for each other, each tried to rationalize why it was a bad idea. But you can't resist that kind of chemistry forever, sooner or later it was bound to burst.

Lasting Impression
Overall, Stealing the Groom was hilarious! This is the kind of book that should be made into a movie, something I can picture on Lifetime or something. It had romance, humour, great characters and character development and was just all around a perfect read for me! Definitely one of my favourite reads for 2014!

1.5 STARS

Childhood best friends;
A free-spirited heroine to a by-the-book hero;
Groomnapping;
And their fake marriage.
”Sounds like a cheesy made-for-television movie. Some people won’t be so easily fooled. How are we going to pull that off?”

Actually, I am among the easily fooled: I love nearly all of these tropes. The plot sounds awfully like a direct-to-DVD Kate Hudson chick flick, but when it comes to books I’m unerringly impulsive in picking up titles promising this well-trodden plot line. The best kinds of comfort reads offer the most predictable story, putting the characters in the most cliched situations both of which you pay no heed because it’s all about the MCs: their ability to charm me well enough to provide escapist, mindless entertainment with their heart wrenching history, the undeniable chemistry, the snappy dialogue that you quote to death in your blog (if I had a blog).

”It would never work between the two of you. You never see eye to eye on anything that matters in keeping a marriage together,” Ann said.

“You don’t know that for sure. We like a lot of the same foods. And sports. We root for the same team,” Amelia bit her lip and pulled the car in a parking slot… “Life is… I don’t know… sunnier when he’s around. Is that a cliche?”

“No that sounds like love.”

NO THAT’S A LIE AND A CLICHE. And since the story in itself is a cliche, which would have been okay but this has out-cliched itself beyond redemption as it is further hampered by an utterly charmless pair of protagonists and enough loopholes in the plot it has actually just become one big hole.

Oh but it gets better (not really). Free-spirited Amelia chooses not to stay in one place because she promised her dead parents that she will live life to the fullest. Which is in direct contrast to Chad who leads a regimented life of a workaholic, rich businessman swearing off love altogether after witnessing his father suffer from its ill-effects. So he fears she would eventually leave him and she fears he would chain and limit her to one place.

I’m actually on-board with the “opposites attract” trope, there’s so many ways this could have been executed to maximize the squee and squeeze the ripe sentimentality out of that background dry. Instead the entire book focuses on Amelia trying to teach Chad to become more of a risk taker, how to be more spontaneous and how to enjoy life. Because you know: sky-diving, going to the town fair and owning a puppy is HOW YOU SHOULD LIVE YOUR LIFE. Perish the thought of someone enjoying working in an office and making money. I think that’s what pissed me off the most: that everyone seems to have some vested interest in Chad’s happiness but nobody even asked him if he ENJOYS doing the boring things that he does. His happiness is always pre-emptively assumed. Amelia surprises Chad with a puppy because that’s how YOU SUCK THE MARROW OUT OF LIFE. By shoving a fucking puppy to your pretend husband’s way. By assuming your own idea of happiness is true for everyone. Even at the expense of an unwitting puppy.

It just dangerously oversimplifies relationships as a whole. And I know this intends to play into certain readers’ fantasies but changing the person you love to fit the mold of your ideals and expectations is not one of mine. Relationships are an eternity of compromises yes, but if you can’t love a person enough to know what it is that he loves doing first before forcing what YOU love down his throat then maybe you shouldn’t be together in the first place.

Much of the dialogue and narrative were mercilessly cheesy.
Help her out of her dress? How the hell was he supposed to stay strong when temptation had his number on speed dial?

And to make things a little bit worse than it already is, Chad is actually bit of a whiner and Amelia spent a great majority of the time wishy-washying about her feelings towards Chad: she married him because she loves him vs she married him because he’s her best friend and she wants to help ad nauseam.
And as if it’s not enough that neither had a drop of charm in their personalities, the foundations of their friendship and eventual relationship make little sense since these were mostly told rather than demonstrated adequately in the book.

I don’t understand why I should root for an HEA for these two when seeing them get massacred by the vengeful, ditched first bride (who disappeared from the story completely) seems more apt. I'm not even disappointed there wasn't any sexytimes in this story and for that I am giving this the half star part from the 1 star it earned for being short.

3 Friends to Lovers, Pretending Turning Real Stars
* * *

When thinking how to put together a fun little romance novel, there are a few things which are guaranteed to pique an interest:

Friends to lovers- check

Circumstances causing a marriage between these friends to lovers- check

Reasons of why said Friends are not Lovers- check

Cute Grandparents manipulating said Friends to Lovers to examine their lives- check

Combine all of those elements and Stealing the Groom comes out ahead on the fast paced, light hearted easy reading scale.

Chad and Amelia have been best friends forever…. Their grandfathers were best friends and so they were raised together in the small town of Sweet Creek. Both have had parental heartache…. Her with both parents dying in a car accident when she was ten…. Him with his father becoming distraught when his wife left them.

The main difference was Amelia was surrounded by love throughout her life. She had sisters and her grandfather who showed her loving was a good thing… and her heart was full of it. Her quirk, though, was she vowed to “live life to its fullest” as her parents weren’t able to….she would do it for them and herself. This concept was fine except she had a tendency to not think things through… so she was known to have mishaps and never plan. She grew up becoming a photographer traveling the world…. Living up to her self-imposed vow.

Chad on the other hand only saw the destructive side of love… his father devastated by Chad’s mother leaving did everything to try and win her back…. Spent a fortune throwing gifts at her feet, embezzled from the family business to cover the debts… gambled to cover some more and then died, leaving the business on the brink of bankruptcy. Chad’s grandfather taught him all that matters is the company and keeping it running… so that is what Chad did… he learned love had no place in his life and focusing on what matters - work was the only way his life would be safe.

The one thing Chad could count on was Amelia… she was his best friend … she listened to him vow never to fall in love like his dad…. And he stayed by her side when her parents died. Over the years they were as tight as two peas in a pod….

But things were brewing….

She had her first crush … and it was Chad… and Chad… he saw her grow into a cute girl but made sure he never crossed the friend line… because she was just too important to mess with…she was his one true thing in his life and you do not risk that.

The story opens with us seeing Amelia getting ready to do her biggest scheme ever…she is saving Chad from himself. Chad has received an ultimatum from his grandfather. He must marry in order to acquire the controlling stock for the company. The grandfather has made this a stipulation and Chad, Mr. Planner, thinks he has outsmarted the old man. He has found a woman to marry for 6 months and then divorce. At the end of the 6 months he will have everything he needs and will never have to deal with the dreaded Love element. It is a strict business transaction and perfect for the man who plans everything.

What he didn’t plan on was his best friend Amelia deciding this was not to be… she decides to kidnap him from the wedding…. To take him to her grandfather’s cabin and talk some sense into him… he cannot marry that money grubbing shrew.

This was a fun little tale. We saw how both of these people were loved by those around them and they just needed to come to terms with the feeling they had had for each other all along. The circumstances of why they were how they were was explained and examined, we could understand them. We also wanted both of them to just figure it all out and be together. The characterizations for the grandparents was enough to cause a smile or two and the sisters were fleshed out a bit for us to see additional books in the wings.

This had just a little heat… the hook was a feel good read with everything laid out for you to enjoy. If you like to sometimes feel like a grin and chuckle, this will work very nicely.

2 minutes after finishing this book, I wanted to pick it up and start it again. I loved it. If you want a book that has the perfect combination of fun, drama, flirting, friendship and banter and great secondary characters and that you will finish with a happy sigh then this is the book for you.

This book had me hooked from the opening page and I did not want to put it down. There is so much to love about this book I could go on forever, but I won't. Just read it. Not only were the main characters Chad and Amelia amazingly fun the secondary characters were just as fantastic. More about them later.

After reading the blurb, I had to read this book. How could you not ? Best friends, a wedding and a years old pact. Especially when the best friend kidnaps the other bestie to stop him from making a huge mistake. Plus the chaos that ensues had me cracking up more than once. My favourite part was the dog, what it gets up to, oh my.

What happens when Amelia decides to kidnap her best friend to stop him from making the biggest mistake of his life by marrying mean girl number 1 ? Yes she steals him away from the church, but really, he's not exactly fighting her.

Chad can't believe Amelia has kidnapped him. He needs to get married in order to save his family business. In Chad's eyes, it's a bonus that the marriage isn't for love. He doesn't believe in it.

When Amelia's actions causes their grandfathers to push them to marry each other? Amelia unexpectedly becomes the blushing bride. Before they know it, they are living under the same roof, sharing the same bed and acting like a happily married couple. But when the close proximity starts to make them see each other in a new light, can they cross the line from friends to lovers and more ? Or will Chad's aversion to love and Amelia's free spirited nature stop them from taking that leap.

I am hoping this is the start to a new series, I desperately want to read about Amelia's sisters Ann and Abby and Chad's friends Nick and Eric. There are stories there that are begging to be told.

I have found a new author for my auto buy list. I can't say enough how much I enjoyed this book, this author has a fresh voice and I need to read more from her.

This book was supplied by the publisher for an honest review.

This was one of the best stories of friends becoming more that I have read in a very long time. Because these two were truly great friends since childhood. Amelia Snyder (Ame) and Chad Walker had been friends since birth basically. You see their grandparents mainly grandfathers were best friends.
When Ame’s parents were killed in a car accident at the age of ten Chad was twelve. He rode his bike over and sat with her until morning then when he knew she fell asleep he left then. The next night he sat with her again this time she hugged him tight and cried into his neck and he let her and just patted her back.
Then when his parent split up she was there for him letting him vent then she just hugged him tight so, so tight. That he could not remember the last time he had been hugged. That is when he knew that no matter what it took he would keep Ame as his friend and in his life forever. She was to important to him to ever lose. He would never love like his father though it only messes things up.
Yet, when Ame hears on her answering machine that Chad is marrying the meanest girl from high school, her world starts spinning off its axis and she jumps on a flight home. He never wanted to marry ever, ever if they did it would be for love and love only. She had to save him from Olivia. She knew that for sure for it was a promise they had made to one another to never marry unless it was for love and love only and she knew neither one of them was in love or wanted to get married so what was he thinking? Can she stop him?
You will have to read to find out…

I recently had an opportunity to review an ARC copy of "Stealing the Groom", by Sonya Weiss. Just to be upfront, I'm not a big fan of romance novels in general. I typically prefer a good YA or an Action/Adventure story. So the fact that I read it at all should tell you something. The fact that I couldn't put it down should speak volumes.

Warning: May contain spoilers! This is a book about Amelia, a free-spirited, fly-by-the-seat-of-you-pants kind of girl who abhors commitment and doesn't want to settle down. She's been best friends with Chad Walker, the grandson of a family friend, since birth. Chad is an uptight, list-making businessman who fears romantic commitment and the devastating wounds love can inflict. When the story beings, Chad is planning to get married to a suitable money grubbing ice-cube. He's only doing it because his grandfather made marriage (for a minimum for six months) the terms for handing over controlling interest in the family company. But Amelia thinks Chad is going to make himself miserable, so she decides to kidnap him. Yup. That's what I said. That's the part that made me go whaaaat? and had me hooked. Add in two meddling grandpas and you have the recipe for the cutest story ever.

I don't want to ruin the story for anyone, so I won't go into more plot details. Suffice it to say, however, that I'm giving this a thumbs-up. It was a fun, light-hearted read with cheerful romantic elements, oh my! kisses, and a twist at the end that made me think, are they ever going to get together?

Woohooo! Great ending. If nothing else, read this for the ending.

I really identified with Amelia. Only difference is I have never had a guy love me since we were kids, in any capacity. But I was able to put myself in her shoes and know that I would have done the same. Isn't that the mark of a great story?

What do you do when your best friend is marrying the wrong person? You kidnap the groom of course! That's the beginning of this truly wonderful friends to lovers story. It was highly entertaining with great secondary characters and a nice pace. Recommended read!

This book was so stinking cute that I loved everything about it. Amelia was so adorable groomnapping her best friend Chad so he wouldn’t marry a girl that he was not in love with, a pact that Amelia and Chad made to each other when they were young. Of course, after groomnapping him, nothing went as planned and they got into more trouble than they could even imagine. All of this craziness that Amelia got Chad into made me love the characters even more.

But the best was when Amelia’s plan goes awry and both of their grandfathers force them into marriage. After spending time together as a married couple they realize the true feelings that they had for each other but refuse to voice it to each other. Amelia refuses to ever settle down and Chad refuses to ever love. However, you know that these two are absolutely perfect for each other because Amelia shows Chad how to live your life unplanned while Chad tames Amelia just a little bit to keep her from flying off the handle.

Stealing the Groom was a very fun and entertaining read, not to mention a feel good novel. It was well written, it was humourous. The only problem I had was with a bit in the end.

Amelia Synder and Chad Walker have been best friends since they were kids. Their grandparents were best friends long before they were born, so they were practically born into this friendship. And Amelia takes her friendship very seriously. There is no way she will let her best friend marry a gold-digging "barracuda." So she devises a plan. To groomnap her friend.

Chad Walker does not believe in love. Not since his mother left his father and his father squandered all their money to try to win back his ex-wife and subsequently drank himself to death. Chad believes that love can only bring pain and heartbreak, so there is no way he is marrying for love. But for his business, he'll do pretty much anything. Even marry a woman he doesn't love. His marriage to Claire is nothing but a business deal mutually beneficial to the both of them. But with is best friends groomnapping him, without any further plans let me just add, his wedding looks like a no go.

As Amelia and Chad spend a couple of nights together, they start feeling things they have never felt for each other. And when with a twist of fate, Amelia ends up being Chad's bride things touch the fine line of friends and lovers. Chad is determined to no cross that line, because there is no way he is willing to lose Amelia. And Amelia is on a mission to loosen Chad up, teach him a little spontaneity and maybe even make him acknowledge that they could be more than friends and still be good together.

I really enjoyed the chemistry between Amelia and Chad. They obviously had feeling for each other that neither of them recognised but the rest of the world did. So, it was really nice to watch them both figure it out too. I do wish there was a little hot action between the two, because I loved them together.

Stealing the Groom was a fun and flirty read. This book shows you that opposite do attract and they are on fire together. Amelia was always the flinty, spontaneous, spur-of-the-moment woman, whereas our dear Chad was a strict by-the-book, control freak with a planner and a to-do list in hand. He did need to loosen up and Amelia was the perfect person to teach him that.

But I do have a bit of an issue with the ending. The author just finished of it off with no bang. I wanted the making up part to go on just a little bit more. The author has also paved the way for two more books featuring Amelia's sisters and Chad's best friends. I look forward to those books.

If you want a good, humourous, fun, feel good book, do not hesitate to pick up Stealing the Groom . It is worth your time.

Her friend, Chad, is marrying the wrong woman and Amelia can’t let that happen. So she gets het butt in action, hiding in bushes and groomnapping in a limo is included. Not that the groom is very reluctant, as a matter of fact he even helps her in his own kidnapping. You see he doesn’t want to get married, his fiancee is...convenient and willing to follow his set of rules. There was also this thing about getting his hands on the full shares of the family company.

Amelia is a little hurt that he didn’t ask for her help if he only needed someone to marry in name. At the same time she has always valued her freedom too much to tie herself to a man so she dismisses her hurt feelings. Chad knows she wants to maintain her freedom that's why he didn't ask her, beside the fact that he also thinks that marrying Amelia would be a disaster.

Well tough luck to both of them, their granddads take matters in their own hands and decide to play a game of cupid. They make arrangements that Chad and Amelia should get married..or else. There's no fighting the granddads in this so they do end up married. The question is, for how long?

Them being opposites is what makes this book fun to read. They push and test one another, help broaden their horizons and views on the simplest things in life. Chad is funny while he tries to suppress his feelings for Amelia. He makes up rules for himself like," I won’t kiss my wife" and "I won’t think that way about my wife". He keeps on adding more rules along the way. Why you ask? Well Amelia awakens feelings in him and he can’t have that. In no way or shape did he want to risk ending like his father.

I continued reading because I wondered what them being married would mean for their friendship. I can’t say the book held my attention all the way through, cause I would be lying. It had some boring parts, some very cheesy parts that didn’t always work for me. Overall it's a cute read, where two friends don't know what they are after a forced marriage. I think there are stories coming for her sisters too, am curious how those will turn out to be.

Are you looking for that one romance with the right amount of humor, cuteness and plot? Stealing The Groom is that book. Sonya Weiss has created great characters that will steal your heart as they realize that all along they've been the ones for each other.

Amelia Snyder has had a crush on Chad Walker for years. When she was 14 she begged him to be her first kiss. Chad had none of it, the two are best friends, and that's it. When he decides to marry a woman for convenience sake, Amelia knows she has to do something, anything to stop the wedding. Her bright plan, steal the groom on the morning of the wedding.

Chad knows Amelia never thinks out her plans, it's one thing that he loves but hates about her. When he's groomnapped he just goes along with it only because there's a part of him that doesn't want to get married- it's something he doesn't believe in. But when he's forced into a marriage with Amelia, his feelings begin to shift and change. Maybe, just maybe, they can be more than just friends.

I really liked Stealing The Groom. Yes, it's your standard, run of the mill romance, but it was cute and funny- two things I cannot pass up. Amelia and Chad are great characters. I love stories where friends end up developing as something more. It makes things seem a bit more realistic.

I'm really hoping that Amelia's sisters get books. They each had a little bit of a story going on and I loved them.

Stealing the Groom is a nice, easy-read, angst-free romance.

Chad and Amelia are lifelong best friends and complete opposites; he the safe businessman with everything planned out, she the flighty, live-life-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type of girl. She can't watch her best friend marry for convenience so she kidnaps him on his wedding day and suddenly finds herself standing at the altar...

Their journey flowed well however it pretty much panned out as I expected it to. It didn't hold any real surprises but they were a cute endearing couple, with great banter and whilst Chad didn't steal my breath away, he was a sweetie and both he and Amelia brought out the best and the worst in one another.

Whilst I liked it, I have to confess it didn't wow me in the way many other Bliss books have in the past. Nevertheless, I look forward to reading the next books in the series (which have been set-up nicely) , if you're after an easy sweet read then it does the trick and I'd recommend.

The blurb for STEALING THE GROOM sounded like a fun, lighthearted read and I was hoping it would be just what I was looking for. It was. It was a funny, wonderfully romantic friends to lovers adventure with some opposites attracting thrown in to spice things up. There was plenty of emotion and passion between Chad and Amelia, but no actual "love" scenes. Didn't matter. Actually, it's part of the humor and building tension as they struggle to keep their relationship at that friendship level that makes the story work so well. I love a steamy sex scene as much as most, but what really makes me fall in love with a book and it's characters is (1) believing the emotion behind their actions, (2) witty, playful banter and (3) a connection level that makes it clear the lovers are meant to be. Sonya Weiss gives us all of this artfully and with flawless style. I recommend you pick up a copy while it's still only $.99, because this is a 5 star read.

If you you like the movies Runaway Bride, Maid of Honor, this book is for you! This book was sweet, romantic, and had some humor in it.
The two characters Chad and Amelia had been thrown as friends since they were little. Even though they both have issues when it comes to being best friends they can depend on each other. So what are best friends for right? When Chad decides to get married, Amelia decides to put an intervention and then all hell/humor breaks loose. One character is spontaneous and the other well organized and when the two get together they balance each other.

I am hoping to see a couple more spin off books with the sisters, I believe it will fit with this book and will be keeping my fingers crossed.

This is a story of two friends who are tricked into getting married. This story has been done many times, but Sonya Weiss gives it a fun spin that pulls you in and takes you for a fun ride! The dynamic between these two characters is great and provides a perfect set up for future books with the supporting cast. I loved how Chad and Amelia are complete opposites and they argue, but they're best friends and their relationship isn't perfect. The concept of a friend stealing the groom to save him from making a mistake is fantastic. This story is full of laughter, sweet romance and meddling grandfathers. It all comes together to make a romance that will leave your heart happy. After reading Stealing the Groom, Sonya Weiss has become a favorite. I'm anxiously awaiting her next book!

This book was so much fun! The storyline was cute, the characters a little bit quirky, and it flowed very nicely. In fact I stayed up till midnight finishing it all in one sitting because I didn't want to put it down! Loved all the turns in the story, it is well written and has (what I thought was) realistic romance. Yes, it was slightly cheesy and/or somewhat cliché at times, but aren't our own love stories like that too at times? I'm rating it 5 stars because it's the best romance I've read in awhile and I truly enjoyed it all the way through.

Check out my blog post for Quote-tastic quotes from this book: Quote-tastic (4): What else could possibly go wrong? – Stealing the Groom by Sonya Weiss

Someone needs to sit on me before I float away on a cloud of sappy giddiness. I’ve read quite a few books with the “marriage of convenience” trope, but none of them left the impression this one did. I laughed until the tears came. Fast-paced, well-written, witty dialogue and comical situations made this a wonderful read.

Chad and Amelia had been best friends since childhood. Personal tragedies bonded them but also made them grow up as adults so opposite, it was a wonder their friendship had never suffered. But the impulsive act of Amelia kidnapping Chad on his wedding day could change their relationship forever. For the better or for the worse?

Amelia always lived life to the fullest–taking risks and flying by the seat of her pants. Her job as a freelance photographer kept her on the move, just the way she liked it. She called it being independent and enjoying freedom. Her friends and family, however, called it running.

Chad had watched his father both drink himself to death and die of a broken heart when Chad’s mother had left them for another man. With a little manipulation from Chad’s grandfather, the responsibility to save the family business rested on his shoulders. Chad didn’t believe in love and fought the idea tooth and nail.

The glimpses of their entire history through anecdotes and memories painted a very solid picture of who their characters were. I understood their fears and why they were so reluctant to cross a line that could change their friendship. Despite there being nothing racier than steamy kisses and sexual innuendos, I enjoyed everything else about them too much to be bothered about not seeing them give in to their desires.

Stealing the Groom charmed the pants off me! This romantic comedy had loveable characters, drama and great dialogues. Heck, I wouldn’t mind spending time with them in Sweet Creek.

I’m a sucker for a sweet romance and Stealing The Groom fits that category perfectly. What would you do if your lifelong best friend was about to marry someone you know isn’t right for them? Would you stand back and let it happen or would you do what you always do and come up with a crazy scheme to keep it from happening? For Ameila there was no question she had to save her best friend Chad from a woman who doesn’t deserve him and who she thinks will bleed him dry. What she doesn’t expect is to find herself in a predicament she never expected.

This was a short and cute story of best friends who become more when they are caught up in an elaborate schemed perpetrated by their grandfathers. At times it’s a little silly but I found myself laughing at these two polar opposites tried to fight their lust-filled feelings for one another.

Amelia is one of those live by the seat of your pants girls and Chad I’m pretty sure was potty trained at gun point. Everything is scheduled and you stick to it. Needless to say when Amelia kidnaps him from his wedding without a true plan their lives are forever changed.

I couldn’t help but like this story and while I felt that some of it was a little over the top, the characters were fun and the tension between them entertaining. I’m hoping as this series continues we’ll get to see how these two are faring following their courtship and marriage.

There is very little in this book that is believable and it requires a heavy dose of suspension of reality to read it, but I didn't care. I loved Chad and Amelia - their friendship was so easy and they fit so well together, you couldn't help but root for them. I love Ame's sisters and the set-up for their books was pretty obvious - the chemistry with their respective love-interests was already heating up the pages! Even the meddlesome grandfathers were endearing. The major flaw in the book is that the ending was too abrupt - the best part was the end and it just was wrapped up a bit too hastily. For a romance novel, the actual relationship was rushed and I would have enjoyed watching them work out the kinks a bit more. Even so, for those who are fans of light romances without a lot of sex or angst, this is a great book.

This review pertains to Stealing the Groom, by Sonya Weiss. Thanks to Entangled Publishing and Netgalley for the chance to read and review. Stealing the Groom was a fun and entertaining read. Well-written with laugh out loud moments which will warm the heart. Amelia and Chad have know each other forever and have been best friends even longer. They made a pact years ago to never marry without love. When Chad is about to marry a women who is all wrong for him, what else could Amelia do, but steal the limo with Chad still inside. Chad needs to get married to save the family business and ends up marrying Amelia instead. IT’s the classic marriage of convenience, but Stealing the Groom was fresh , fun and a great read. Highly recommended to romance readers. It was a sweet lighthearted story that will not disappoint.

I really enjoyed this friends-to-lovers romance. It had my favorite elements: romance, humor and an awesome, happy-ever-after ending.

The kidnapping of the groom at the very beginning of the story had me laughing out loud. It was truly an hilarious comedy of errors as it seemed to go from one unexpected blunder to another. If anything could go wrong, it seemed to when our heroine, Amelia, had her hand in it. She was so adorable!
On the other hand, Chad, our hero, was a straight arrow, inflexible to a fault, and the complete opposite of Amelia. I wanted to shake him and tell him to loosen up! Bottomline: I loved how both the characters evolved as I turned the pages and you will too.

I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a light, fun romance as it fits the bill perfectly :-)))

Very Good! 4 Stars!!!!!

Was legit excited about this, but was really let down. The two characters are completely static. 'I can't have responsibilities!' marries 'everything needs a plan'. Both are emotionally scarred from their parents and pasts, and it's the same inner dialogue over and over and over again. Reminded me of the show Dharma and Greg, which I couldn't stand either. Responsibility is like a four letter word in the book, like jumping on a plane and building a snowman in another state is the gold standard of living. Hate to burst the bubble, but if there weren't responsible people out there she wouldn't be able to get on a plane and go anywhere.
Other people may love it, but I personally didn't enjoy it.

Think My Best Friend’s Wedding but with a happy ending for Julianne and Michael with Kimmy being a gold digger. Amy and Chad are opposites but yet manages to maintain a very good friendship which neither had wanted to drag over to a (more than likely failed) romance. Enter one impulsive act brought about by conniving/plotting/do-gooding grandfathers and “Viola!” – a marriage of convenience (not really) that pushes all those uncalled for romantic feelings. Their journey to reveal true feeling is a cute and enjoyable romp. While not necessarily deep or angst-ridden, this is brain-candy at it’s best. Light, fun and enjoyable.

Stealing the Groom was a sweet romance by new author Sonya Weiss. When best friends Chad and Amelia are forced into a marriage of convenience, will they allow themselves to be vulnerable enough to love? Or will fear of the unknown hold them back?

I like my books with a good dose of humor and Stealing the Groom didn't disappoint! This was a fun, charming story and I look forward to future books by Ms. Weiss.
