Review more for myself, for the future, since I can't write notes here without also leaving a review.
The book is pretty generic, and at every step in the beginning it was pretty predictable. Not a problem there, I wanted to like it and was ready to give it a proper go.
But.
The narrator killed it for me. He reads this like there's someone next to them asleep, and they're afraid of waking them up with loud voices. Or excitement of any kind.
I started tunning the book out without noticing, and then I might as well have ambient sounds instead of a story in my ears.
Time for me to move on, and read this if I ever run into book 2 and forget why I marked this as DNF.
