Chris Claremont is a writer of American comic books, best known for his 16-year (1975-1991) stint on Uncanny X-Men, during which the series became one of the comic book industry's most successful properties.

Claremont has written many stories for other publishers including the Star Trek Debt of Honor graphic novel, his creator-owned Sovereign Seven for DC Comics and Aliens vs Predator for Dark Horse Comics. He also wrote a few issues of the series WildC.A.T.s (volume 1, issues #10-13) at Image Comics, which introduced his creator-owned character, Huntsman.

Outside of comics, Claremont co-wrote the Chronicles of the Shadow War trilogy, Shadow Moon (1995), Shadow Dawn (1996), and Shadow Star (1999), with George Lucas. This trilogy continues the story of Elora Danan from the movie Willow. In the 1980s, he also wrote a science fiction trilogy about female starship pilot Nicole Shea, consisting of First Flight (1987), Grounded! (1991), and Sundowner (1994). Claremont was also a contributor to the Wild Cards anthology series.

Did I need to buy these comics again in great big hardback omnibus form? No I did not.
Did I want to make sure I had the complete run of the imperial phase of the X-Men comics, in this format, with the associated annuals and mini series that are mostly mediocre? Of course I did.
Such a collector.

If you want to pick this tome up, make sure you know what you are in for.

X-Tinction Agenda is maybe a sixth of this book. And the other stories aren't related, they just weren't collected in the other omnibuses, so this book becomes a catch-all.

It contains:

Days of Future Present (4-part story across annuals)
X-Tinction Agenda
Kings of Pain (4-part story across annuals)
A few Marvel Comics Presents stories
A story that ran across some quarterly specials they put out in '91
The Starjammers Spotlight from '90
And some other odds and ends.

The interior and exterior chronology of this collection really jumps around. If its reader was not familiar with the rest of X-Men continuity, this would be a messy affair. We have things ranging from '85 to '92 and not in that order. But some things published in the 9xs take place in the late-80s continuity.

The quality of the stories have a wide range as well. Generally trending toward worse as you progress through the book as you get further from the mainline comics.

All-in-all, fun for me, but I would hesitate to put it in someone's hands and tell them to read it cover to cover.

Bought & read this mainly for the main crossover event and the cool cover art. The supplemental material is mostly inconsequential and not that great, so I didn’t even bother reading all of it. X-tinction Agenda was a pretty fun crossover and conclusion to a lot of the Genoshan stuff though!
