is a freelance comic writer and author. He is best known for his work on a variety of spin-offs from both Doctor Who and Star Wars, as well as comics and novels for Vikings, Pacific Rim, Sherlock Holmes, and Penguins of Madagascar.
Cavan Scott, along with Justina Ireland, Claudia Gray, Daniel Jose Older, and Charles Soule are crafting a new era in the Star Wars publishing world called Star Wars: The High Republic. Cavan's contribution to the era is a comic book series released through Marvel Comics titled Star Wars: The High Republic.
It is not my favourite phase of the High Republic, but the art is exceptional, and the story is very supplemental to the rest of the phase, which bridges gaps and sets up answers building towards the end of the era of story telling.
I don't own the omnibus itself, because I already have the trades and didn't want to splurge. I used this more so I didn't have to add too many books to my reading challenge.
But this is a great collection of comics and is sure to be an excellent tome for any Star Wars omni collector.
Havent got the omnibus but ive read all the comics within this phase now and although these comics snd phase as a whole were not on the level of phase 1 there is still sooooo many epic and stunning moments and fun characters to enjoy specifically vildar mac i literally love that dude hes so cool!
Although I wasn’t a massive fan of the phase 2 books this comic series I really enjoyed. The main line series involving Jedi Vildar Mac on Jedha was cool, however The Blade featuring the legend Porter Engle was some of the best high republic content I’ve read. He is literally him
Vidlar, Matty and Tey make a really solid mix of characters for this comic and story. With the reader getting a good amount of back story around Tey and Vildar's past and how that is influencing their choices during the events of this comic.
One of the side story lines i've enjoyed about phase 2 and this omnibus really doubles down on this is the exploring of different groups/religions on the force and how they all interpret its meaning and using it.
The high republic always does such a great job rewarding readers for reading more of the high republic without making anything outside the adult books as required reading , Quest of the jedi is another fantastic example of that and the rewards in this addition i found is much greater then usual with all the smaller phase 2 characters and stories going on.
Quest of the jedi i found is a good part b to the battle of jedha book and that's fantastic!!
