This book explores the art of finding the right words and actions at the right time--an invaluable handbook for expressing compassion, kindness, caring, and congratulations to friends and family, neighbors and colleagues, and anyone else who touches your life. Spizman focuses on how to use words wisely and well in both difficult and joyful times, allaying the common fear people have of appearing foolish or inadequate when they want their words to make a difference.
There are good quotes in this book as well as very helpful samples of what to write in certain situations - such as a wedding, an illness, or death. This author really likes something called "Send-a-Song," and recommends everyone use the service throughout the entire book, which I found really wierd. (But maybe the business is owned by a family member or friend...) She also lists ideas of things you can do to give someone encouragement, and these are some of the dorkiest things I've ever heard of - such as sending someone a pair of sunglasses with a note reading "Things will brighten up soon!" or sending someone a Monopoly game with a note that says, "We're banking on you!" - yeah, for real.
I often reread this book. Especially when I'm writing a letter to a special friend. The book helps you express tje right words at the right time. I own a copy of this book and I never lend this book out!
