The raskarrans say they know their mates when they meet them, and one of the newcomers can't take his eyes off me. I'm not against the idea of a mate, in fact, part of me really likes the sound of it. But things in my past have damaged me in ways that make me think I won't be able to fully embrace a future as someone's linasha.
I know my Grace is going to be mine from the first moment I see her. Lina has blessed me with with a kind, compassionate mate and I could not be happier. But my Grace is nervous of me. Ill treatment by a male in her past has made her afraid that she cannot enjoy my touch. But that male gave no thought to her pleasure, and that is not a mistake I will make...

I'm so conflicted. While I absolutely adored Calran, Grace's issues brought a "Debbie Downer" aspect to the story. I understand why she felt the way she did, but I think there was a little too much emphasis on this. I did love how Calran looks upon Molly as his daughter now too. 5 stars for Calran, 2.5 for Grace.
I am in love with the way Heather Fox writes her alien men! Calran is absolutely perfect. He’s soft, cuddly, rough and the perfect amount of protective for Grace. She couldn’t have found a better mate in the dream space! The spice was oh sooooooo delectable. 😮💨😮💨😮💨 More please??
3 stars because of the overarching story that happens in this one that is super interesting. However, their love story is meh to me- I was uninterested in them, honesty.
We finally get to hear what took place with Calran and Grace! AND get some teasers about the overarching Marcenia plot. The love story takes place from when the two protagonists are matched to present, and is a wonderful mix of how empathy, open communication, and meeting your partner’s individual needs can help both find happiness. Fox does such a great job of focusing on the main couple while still allowing us to enjoy their interactions with the wider group that we know so well. It really sucks you into every character’s life and development such that you cannot wait to learn more about each person! Speaking of—I am addicted to this Mercenia conspiracy plot line. It feels like Fox has all of these threads she has trailed throughout each book that you keep rediscovering and thinking, “oh my god! Oh my god! That’s why that thing happened!!” But she also does a great job of naturally integrating that information in the narrative so it’s not like you are reading a last week on dragonball Z summary every time, if you just want to jump in on the current book. But the build up is sublime, so if you have time and like anticipation, maybe start a few books earlier. Cannot wait to meet the traveling band we’ve heard so much about, to see the other original castaways paired off (Khadijah please! Love the mix of personalities but I do truly enjoy that this society values warrior women), and to get more insight into Mercenia and Raskarren history (and futures!)! Keep a close eye on Fox’s page as well— often the books are released without a rollout. The only way I can track when there is a new book in Kindle reliably is to manually check her listings. But 100% worth the effort!!
Heather Fox has created a world and characters I look forward to seeing each time a book is released. Calran is an older Raskarran of on the Cliff people. As soon as he saw Grace he new she was his mate. The female he never believed he would have especially after the disease that took all their females. Grace has become a healer in this new world and she loves it but her past haunts her. And now that she has met Calran, she wants to be his mate she just feels she's to broken and won't be what he wants and needs. Together they take their relationship slowly and work through each of the problems facing them. And at the end they find a love and acceptance worth fighting for! This was a beautifully told story about healing and love and so wonderfully told with great characters and a terrific storyline. I can't wait for the next in the series 🔥💖🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟🔥💖🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟🔥💖🌟💖🌟
This was yet another good story. The feelings provoked in this story make me stop and think how wonderful it would be if people were this compassionate. They are out there, but the world needs more of them. This series is captivating and I hope it continues. It is worth a read.
