Sunshine Cellars #1

Pinot Promises

Rate this book
Will they become partners in wine…or just another pour decision?

Maggie Moore is many things—creative, caring, throws an excellent party—but cautious isn’t one of them. Juggling her new event planning business after her picket-fence dreams fall apart, the last thing Maggie needs is to let her impetuous heart be in charge. Especially when it’s blindsided by Sunshine Cellars resident grump and his sassy daughter.

Kel Adams is as skilled at bottling up his emotions as he is a pinot. Running his best friend’s family winery wasn’t his life’s dream, but Sunshine Cellars is the perfect place to forget his former job and the picture-perfect family he almost had. Instead, he is determined to focus on the only things that matter—his daughter Olive and the vineyard.

But when Kel and Maggie keep crossing paths, he can’t resist her sparkling charm and rosé-colored view of life. Maggie is intrigued by Kel’s complex notes and the soft heart he hides behind his gruff exterior. Opposites may attract, but will their budding relationship turn into sour grapes, or a delicious red blend?

Pinot Promises is book 1 in the Sunshine Cellars series. This single-dad, opposites attract, steamy rom-com can be read with or without your favorite glass of wine. Sunshine Cellars features small town vibes in the big city, heroines you’d want to have brunch with, and cameos from your Mailbox, Inc. favorites!

Definitely a feel-good, make you warm & tingly romance. It's lightly spicy, but it reads quickly and easily. I found myself reacting genuinely with the characters (laughing & smiling, or getting angry/irritated for the same reasons). Kel & Maggie were both great characters with troubled pasts, but they seemed to find ease and balance with one another.

There were a few moments when the dialogue seemed a little forced or abrasive. However, I do feel that it was intended to be more like a realistic conversation instead of part of a character personality point. I'm looking forward to reading more from this storyline and seeing how things turn out in future books.

I love this story because it’s all about their meet cute and journey of becoming a couple. Plus Olive is adorable. I’m like Maggie….. I fell in love with Kel almost as much as I love Olive!

What can I say? I am a sucker for a grumpy single dad, who is protective and loving and caring with the people that he holds cherishes most in the world. I really enjoyed the man and relationship between two main characters. I also thoroughly enjoyed all of the side characters. This is such a great start to a new series and I can’t wait to read more

This is the first book in Fancy's brand new series called 'Sunshine Cellars' and if this book is anything to go by, than I for one can't wait to read the rest of this series. This first installment is gripping and a great grumpy secret cinnamon roll story, with the added bonus of no third act break up scene.

This story consists of 23 Chapters plus an epilogue and tells the story of Maggie and Kel. Though with the amount of background characters you are introduced to, reader are sure to fall in love with everyone they meet in this story. As well as a few familiar faces from the Mailbox Inc series.

Now Maggie is an event planner, who also seem to court problems (according to her family) I just think she seems to have some bad luck. Maggie is also reeling from a few things that happened in her personal life that takes time. Whereas our male lead Kel, is the complete opposite of Maggie. He is a single dad to a gorgeous little girl and is working on a vineyard. He is a grumpy character but very much a secret cinnamon roll.

From the beginning of there story these two characters are attracted to each other, even if one needs saving and the other seems to be saving everyone. As with many romance's communication between the main characters is not brilliant but its more from the characters personalities than any miscommunication. Maggie is an oversharer and would talk anyone's ear off, whereas Kel wants to talk but he doesn't know how to start the conversation.

Now there is a few steamy scenes to note within this book and provide the reader with enough steamy to keep them very satisfied. There are also hints of other scenes, but those are either interrupted (not in the way you think) or mentioned the morning after. So it is not steamy all the time but enough to keep the reader happy.

Overall I enjoyed this book and can't wait to see where the rest of the series goes. This reader has an idea of who might be the focus of the next book but will be waiting patiently for the announcement of book two.

This is hands down Fancy Roberts BEST book yet! I related to Maggie, the a little clumsy, a little bit heads in the clouds event planner, from page one. Once we got to know Kel, it was easy to see why he was the perfect hero for Maggie! Hes protective, loyal, caring, sweet, and so much more under that flannel shirt! This book had me snorting laughing at parts while also loving the connection between the two. And the realistic communication? Swoon. I love a book where they communicate like the adults they are, and especially loved it when Maggie was the instigator, not ever hiding her feelings or thoughts from Kel! If you're looking for a book that will make you laugh and fall in love, this one is it!

Pinot Promises is book one in Fancy's new series Sunshine Cellars.
Maggie is a clumsy event planner who tends to act before thinking things through. Kel is a grumpy single dad who is always looking out for everyone else. Neither is impressed by the other in their first couple of meetings. It isn't until Maggie gets hurt playing with Kel's daughter that they finally find a way to connect. Maggie finds out that beneath Kel's gruff exterior is a fierce protector who is loyal to those in his inner circle. Kel loves Maggie's sunshine and support. Fancy does a great job with character development. I liked that she included characters from her other series. This was a sweet, easy read.

Fancy has, yet again, made me fall in love with her characters and sucked me in to their story.

Kel and Maggie were so fun and real. Was Kel dumb many times, yes, definitely, and Maggie also had her fair share of holding back and letting some insecurities creep in, but it was refreshing that they both recognized they needed to talk things out. Love reading healthy communication in books and I’m here for it!!

I loved the nods to her Mailbox Inc series, and how some things were left hanging to hint and what may be coming next! Can’t wait!

Thank you Fancy and team for the ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book was a feel-good easy read!

Maggie is an event planner who sometimes leaps before she thinks, so when she has a run in with Kel, the grumpy winery manager, while on the job, she does not think sparks will fly. A series of mishaps pushes them together, and Maggie soon realizes that Kel is sweet and protective and many things she did not realize. Throw in Kel's mischievous seven-year-old daughter and Maggie's matchmaker-minded sister, and you have one fun story! I can also see some set-ups for future books, so be on the lookout for more companion books!

This was the first book by Fancy Roberts I read. Overall, I enjoyed the story and loved the comic relief that was spread throughout. The only criticism I have is I felt it went from dislike to like to love very fast. I guess when you only have so many pages, things must move along rather quickly, though. 🤣 I look forward to see what happens with Kel, Maggie and Sunshine Cellars in the future. #GoodreadsGiveaway

Aggghhhh!

I adored Ophie & Philip but I absolutely loved Maggie and Kel together!! He was a secret cinnamon roll grump and she was pure sunshine and chaos. It was a hit instantly-love which I didn’t expect but I still loved it. I am becoming a big fan of Fancy’s writing and can’t wait to explore more of her world!

I def recommend if you’re in the mood for a cute, feel good, laugh-out-loud read with about two and a half chilli peppers worth of steam 🥹

I enjoyed reading this book.
The grump Ken was lovable as he focused on his daughter and his duties at the winery.
Maggie was adorable as she was learning all the things about event planning.
These two take you on a wild emotional ride where you fall for them then want to throttle them so hard then hug them all over again.
Fun read.
Can't wait for what's next in this series.

I kept thinking I read this before... grumpy single dad working at a vineyard and living on-site in a cottage. Quirky, fun party planner who bonds with his daughter.

The publishing date says it's new but the fact that it was so similar and predictable kept pulling me out of the story. Like book deja vu.

It was cute. They had some steamy moments. Just not my favourite.

Kel and Maggie are my favorite couple from Fancy to date. It's an easy read, low angst, high feels, high lolz, and I love the little doses of realism and normalizing things that she sprinkles into her work. Makes me want to go poking around a winery myself!

Already looking forward to book two!

I love Kel he is a man like a real man and amazing dad oh my heart, Maggie is fun and is really easy to love as well, all of the characters are in this sweet story.
