This is a Second Chance Romantic Suspense, and this is the fourth book in the Big Sky Justice series. I have read some of the other books in this series before picking up this book. I really got pulled into this book from the first page, and I enjoyed getting to know the characters in this book. I loved all the action and suspense. This is a very fast moving book that keeps your attention. The only thing that I did not like is that Dakota's sister case that was talked about throughout this book was not solved. I hated the fact we kept hearing about her sister's case, but that case did not really go anywhere in this book. The case that was worked throughout this book was solved and closed. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

This is book four in The Big Sky Justice series and it is Dakota and Ellis story. Ellis and Dakota have history because at one time they were in love only for one incident to completely destroy and tear them apart. Now a cold case had been reopened and it means that Dakota and Ellis will have to work together to solve the mystery which means both of their lives have just become even more complicated. Dakota is the first in her family to attend college and enter the world of law enforcement and always followed the rules so now she works for the BIA and loves making a difference while solving difficult cases and her new case is the death of a single mom who was murdered and the disappearance of her daughter and because Dakota’s sister Mikaya was also murdered three years ago and she is still grieving the loss and Dakota hopes that somehow it would help her heal just a little bit even though she will always miss her sister. Ellis is a FBI agent and now he is working with missing persons but wants to get back to the narcotics team and he also breaks and bends the rules at times if it needs it and that sometimes gets him in to trouble but he also gets results but he now had to work with Dakota and he doesn’t know how to feel about that because he never got over her and still loved her even after all this time apart. When the missing child shows up seventeen years later and had memory loss from a car accident Ellis and Dakota need to find out what happened and also where had she been for all these years and they how that she can answer there questions and get some answers while interviewing Cheyenne’s ( Zoey’s ) adopted parents but something seems off leaving them with even more questions than answers. When they get a big break through things start to happen but danger is closer than they think so now they need to work quickly so that those involved can be brought to justice. Dakota and Ellis are so perfect together and for each other and there attraction, chemistry and love is still as strong as ever so will this be their second chance of happiness and a future together that they both want and deserve especially after everything that they have been through in their lives. I absolutely loved this book and it takes you on a rollercoaster ride of so many emotions and I couldn’t put this action packed book down because not only was it so addictive but it also pulled you into the story and kept your attention throughout and I can’t wait to read more books by this author in future.

Bureau of Indian Affairs Dakota Foster is reconnected with her ex and current partner, FBI agent Ellis Vaughn, when a teenage girl is identified as a long-missing child. The case feels personal for Dakota, who was reminded of her sister's unsolved homicide when the girl's identity was discovered. As they work together to solve the case, their past feelings resurface, making it challenging for them to focus on the investigation. Also there is someone who doesn't want the case solved, so Dakota and Ellis must work together and put aside their attraction to track down the killer. Dakota has built a career with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) as part of law enforcement. Her commitment to upholding the law and following rules has brought her success and satisfaction in making a positive impact on her community. Dakota will need to work closely with Ellis to unravel a complex mystery that will have a significant impact on their lives. On the other hand, Ellis, an FBI agent, specializing in missing persons cases, often breaks rules, which frequently leads him into trouble despite yielding promising results. His current assignment forces him to work with Dakota again which brings unresolved and complicated feelings. Attraction between them is undeniable, and it's clear that they have a strong chemistry. The beautiful dynamics and mysterious plot unfold throughout the narrative.

This story is the perfect addition to this series.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is looking into the cold case of a mother's murder and her daughter's abduction. Dakota Foster is the lead and FBI agent Ellis Vaughn is brought in as part of the team. What Dakota doesn't reveal to her boss is that Ellis and she were previously in a relationship because she feels they can keep things professional. But it soon becomes obvious that there are still feelings lingering between them.

As the story progresses, at times there is plenty of tension between the two as they navigate between doing the job and acknowledging their feelings. And as they follow the clues in the case, they run up against lies, danger, and more than just the possible solution to a murder.

When she is handed a cold case that share similar to her sisters case she knows that she has to solve it. What or who she does not expect to have to do that with is her ex. After getting put on the missing persons department he is not happy, even less so that she is giving him the cold shoulder. However, when the danger and trouble start they are glad that they have each other.

This was a great book. It had a great mix of investigating what happened with the kidnapping of a young 6-week-old baby whose mother was murdered to an attraction of two ex-lovers trying to find a new future. You need to read to find out the twists and turns within the story line.
