H. K. Christie watched horror films far too early in life. Inspired by the likes of Stephen King, Jodi Picoult, true crime podcasts, and a vivid imagination she now writes suspenseful thrillers. This is book 12 of the Martina Monroe series. I’m not tired of Martina yet. I really like the character and how the author gives us Martina’s personal story in addition to “the case”. This allows the reader to have an attachment to her. It does for me at least. This is another great case where Drakos Monroe Security & Investigations is hired to unravel Kay’s secret past for her. Growing up, she had no mother or sister and her father would not give her any information about them. When he dies and she goes through his things, there is nothing about her. What was he hiding all this time? H.K. Christie does not let Martina fans down in this book. I received an ARC copy from the author and this is my honest review.

Another home run from HK Christie. My life kept interfering with me reading this book because I did not want to put it down. The writing style is easy to read but captures you and holds your attention until the very end. Then when you get there you are sad it’s over. I love the continuation of the story with Martina and gang but one more new case that has all the twists and turns. The characters, storyline, plot were all really vivid and detailed and it played out like a movie. Thank you HK Christie for the opportunity to read this!

The Coco County Sheriff department has ended the Cold Case Squad for now, so Martina is back at her Private Detective Agency. Vincent brings in a case of a young woman who wants to find her deceased Mother and Sister so she can bury her Dad by them. However, this is only the beginning of a much larger case. Seems Dad wasn’t who he said he was. Martina and Vincent dig into his history to find the answers. And what a history. He’s changed his name multiple times, a couple of marriages, and a highly encrypted laptop that means he is hiding something. This is a great story and I love how H K Christie writes. You won’t want to put the book down until all the threads are unraveled and whole story is revealed.

Martina and Vincent are back at their firm full time as they are not needed at the CoCo County Sheriff dept. right now. Into their office walks a young woman looking for the gravesites of her mother and sister so she can bury her recently deceased father next to them. Her father never spoke of the past and she can find nothing in his house to help her. What Vincent and Martina find brings in not only the sheriff's dept., but also a special dept. of the FBI and puts the woman in grave danger from what her father was into. Just what was her father up to and who was he...

Kay seeks out Martina and her firm to find her missing mother and daughters grave sites after her father passes away. However, things are nothing as they appear! This was just a great story to dive into. You never know what twists are gonna happen. I always have to set aside one day to read about Martina because they are so hard to put down. The ending was so good, I loved how it all came together and not just the case….

RE: sensitive topic handled delicately

Love the Martina Monroe series; it is always a nice escape with multidimensional characters. This story handles a sensitive topic delicately, and effectively leaves readers curious for what happens next. I was a little worried when I realized what the bad guys are guilty of, but it evolved effectively and honestly without being graphic or disturbing.

I know when I pick up one of Ms Christie’s books I’m in for a treat and will not want to put it down. This book was one of the best in the series, which is saying a lot since they are all great. The story is engaging and the mystery brought difficult subject matter to light in a sensitive way. The regular cast of characters are likable and people you would like to know. Can’t get better than this!

Who am I

After finding her father dead a young woman hires Marina and Vincent to help find out what happened to her mother and sisters graves . When the case gets bigger and they discover things aren't what they seem they find out that the woman isn't who she thinks she is. This book is heat warming and dangerous all in one if you like a real mystery you will really like this one!!

I found this to be a haunting, sad story that I couldnt put down. A father would not tell her of her past, the attic she knew had secrets. It was time now to know the unknown, she found even more secrets. Hiring detectives would she get answers.
A well written plot that captured my attention to the end. I recommend.

I think this might be my favorite Martina Monroe book. I really enjoy these characters how they depend on each other and are there for each other. It was no different with Martina’s new client Kay. They helped her with what she needed and showed her they cared about her welfare. It’s a very interesting storyline. Grabbed my attention from the beginning and I hated to have to put it down.

Martina and Vincent are dragged into a complex case of kidnapping and a pedophile ring after they start searching for two grave sites as they were asked by a young woman who just showed up at their office. There's a good plot, lots of action and twists and turns till the culprits are in prison and Kay finds her true life story. Entertaining!

Suspenseful, from Beginning to End

When Kay’s father dies, it leads her to a search that will change her life forever. Her family secrets will leave you reeling. I could not put down this gripping story. I recommend it to those who like crime thrillers with shocking family secrets. I loved this story and very much look forward to what this author writes next.

Out of all of the books in this series, even though it is a psychological thriller, it ends up being very heartwarming. H.K.Christ is unequivocally talented in putting the pieces together and makes me want to keep reading her stories. I will be starting book 13 of this series tonight and look forward to more to come.

another fantastic read

What begins as a grief stricken daughter searching for the graves of her dead mother and sister becomes a case of kidnapping, child pornography and more. We also get updates on the personal lives of Martina and the team. Great read. Highly recommend!
