Excerpt from ROCK ME HARD The Rock Star's Seduction Complete

Kaitlyn

I thought about the last time I saw him, years before, back when I was an undergrad…

When he was broke and struggling, just a guy with a dream.

Before he was Derek Kane, the most famous rock star in the world.

We were standing outside my dorm by my car. There was a horrible, nauseating sadness in my stomach. If I could have put off this moment forever, I would have.

“…I guess this is it,” I whispered. I could feel myself perilously close to crying.

“It doesn’t have to be,” he said.

I frowned. “What do you mean?”

He took my hands in his.

“Stay with me,” he whispered, his green eyes gazing deep into mine.

My lips trembled. “I… I can’t…”

“Yes you can. If you really want to, you can. Stay with me. You can crash at my friend’s house for a couple of weeks… I know he’ll let you stay there until I can find a second job. I’ll get a better place, you can live with me and go to school while I get the band going…”

I had to look away. Tears filled my eyes. “I… I’m supposed to go to NYU…”

“You can keep going to journalism school here.”

“I already told them I’m leaving…”

“They’ll let you back in. Stay with me.

I started crying. “I can’t.”

Derek took my face in his hands and looked at me so sweetly, it hurt. “If you walk away now, you’re going to regret it for the rest of your life.”

“…if I don’t walk away now, I’m going to regret it, too.”

“Then just stay with me one more week.”

I shook my head.

He tried to bargain. “Then just two more days…”

I shook my head every time.

“Then give me just one more night,” he pleaded.

**Warning this will have potential spoilers - you have been warned **

Rock Me Hard by Olivia Thorne is the collection of Rock Me Hard Rock All Night and Hard as Rock - Prior to reading these stories I hadn’t heard of Olivia Thorne but I am glad I found her!

The plot of this story has three the MC (Dereck, Kaitlyn, and Ryan) receiving and giving love, falling in lust, and of course falling in love and being in love. The road to happiness for these three is a convoluted journey that spans about 5-years, involves many obstacles, includes many mistakes, and includes hot as hell sex! 🔥❤️‍🔥💖❤️‍🔥💗❤️‍🔥🔥

For a lot of you this book may not be something you want to read - especially if cheating in a relationship is something that ruins a book for you. There is also a lot to unpack in this book regarding self-worth, forgiveness, egos, and of course…love.

▪️“Is it more important to love someone with all your heart… …or to be loved by someone with all of theirs?”

▪️The difference between LOVING someone versus Being IN LOVE

“You can love somebody and care about them deeply… but being in love with somebody is your heart skipping a beat when they walk in the room. It’s waking up happy because you know you get to see them that day. You can’t wait to be with them again, and leaving them is torture.”

I almost put this book down several times - there are people and situations throughout the story that I didn’t care for…However I was able to carry on reading this book even after the author crafted a love triangle AND after I wanted to seriously slap the female MC (several times on multiple occasions). I admit I was disappointed in the lack of a satisfying ending … instead it’s a HFN. Maybe that’s why I kept reading- ever hopeful of the happily ever after ending.

Included in Book
▪️Bad boy rocker? ✔️
▪️Sweet boy Rocker? ✔️
▪️Passive Aggressive ex-boyfriend?✔️
▪️Cheating - Sexual and Emotional? ✔️
▪️Love triangle? ✔️
▪️Cheating asshole? ✔️
▪️Supporting characters that made you crazy? ✔️

Rock Me Hard Derek’s “love at first sight" upon seeing Kaitlyn and the subsequent jealousy by her scorned roommate is pretty cute. I don’t think I’m willing to believe that an eighteen year old whoring man/boy is truly capable of the devotion he professes. However, it makes for a good story and it’s sad when they part ways.

Rock All Night I’m not too keen on the rock god that Derek has become. He appears to be drinking heavily and who knows if he partakes of the cocaine being passed around. His cocksure attitude and subsequent disrespect of Kaitlyn shows how immature he still is. I’m not sure if the love triangle has been addressed yet, unless the author means Kevin, who came across as a dweeb. I hope it’s not Ryan who seems like such a sweet person and doesn’t deserve the heartache.

Shanna points out that Derek hasn’t told Kaitlyn that he loves her. Maybe not this trip but he had in the past and he has written a lot of songs about her. Everyone in his orbit seems to know who she is. I’m probably just as naive as Kaitlyn but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that now that they’ve overcome old obstacles that they might have HEA. However, Shanna’s belief that Ryan still has feelings for Kaitlyn seems like trouble waiting to happen.

I wonder if things would be different had Kaitlyn stayed in Georgia with Derek. Killian believes sleeping around is Derek's nature and not something he can/will give up. Both Derek and Kaitlyn overreact about some situations causing problems for them. So far they’ve been able to work things out but who knows how long that will last?

I had a bad feeling as I approached the end of this book and sad to say I was right. Derek may be a pig but Kaitlyn has her share of blame for what is happening.

Hard As Rock Don’t hurt Ryan, don’t hurt Ryan, don’t hurt Ryan.

Kaitlyn should just get the hell out of Dodge. At the very least she should stay out of the recording studio. Maybe the boys would work things out if she’s not a constant reminder of their feud. Not only that; she needs to get her head out of her ass. I think therapy is in order. It may benefit her to realize that many alcoholics relapse. She keeps asking herself if Derek has changed but I’m pretty sure deep down he hasn’t really.

I kept waiting for Miles to re-enter the room after giving the three of them an ultimatum. His reaction would have been priceless but it didn’t happen.

I’m let down by the ending. I wish Kaitlyn had actually made a choice and that they had not gone polyamorous. Maybe the constant competition of having Ryan around will keep Derek on the straight and narrow. Speaking of Derek, is he a narcissist? He only seems intent on being with Kaitlyn when she’s unavailable. She had a boyfriend in college so was unattainable. Four years passed without him even trying to contact her. He’s head over heels for awhile when she shows up to interview the band but later confesses his resentment because she'd left him as the reason for deliberately trying to hurt her.

He comes unglued when she leaves and goes to extreme lengths to reclaim her when he finds her with Ryan. Even when he’s released from rehab he acts like an ass because she’s with Ryan. He may stick with Kaitlyn now only because he has to share.

I would have liked to read about the reaction of Kaitlyn and Ryan’s families to their living solution. (Especially Ryan’s sister who had the huge crush on Derek)

Wow. Impressive angsty rockstar romance

This was a very good rockstar romance. Gritty, angst filled, overflowing with sex, drugs and rock and roll. Cheating is centered pretty heavily so if that's a major trigger for you be forewarning.

The main female character is essentially a beautiful nerd. She was a late bloomer in high school, gangly and average in looks when she met her first and only love, Kevin, who was also a nerd, for lack of a better word. All her firsts have been with him and she plans to give him all her lasts, by staying with him forever. But he's at a school a thousand miles away from the school she's at and the long distance is wearing on their relationship. One night her roommate brings home a smoking hot, broody, aspiring musician who takes one look at her and changes his mind about what girl he wants that night. But our main female character is unwilling to cheat on her boyfriend, despite feeling drawn to this new handsome stranger. And that is what kicks off this story that spans about 4 years, first with the few weeks they spend fighting their attraction before separating and going their separate ways and then years later, after they are reunited, older, less innocent, less trusting. In some ways this is a second chance romance. The author mentions before the first chapter this is a love triangle and you don't find out why or with who until quite a ways into the book. I won't say more about that, I think it's more enjoyable to just let it play out.

As to my thoughts. The spice/steam level of this book is high. Not only is there a lot of it, it's pretty detailed and unique. There were some things that happened that I didn't know existed and color me intrigued, I plan to Google after finishing this review.

Beyond all that, there wasn't a boring moment. The characters were interesting and distinctly unique. You really get tonfeel immersed in the fast paced glitter and wealth and dirtyness of the rock and roll lifestyle. And boy do you suffer, alongside our main female character. Which brings me to the cheating. While I felt anger during those moments, and there were a few, it was realistic considering the context and the personalities.

The happily ever after was....interesting. I honestly didn't know what to expect but that point.

And that's all I'm going to say about that. I plan to see what else this author has written because I loved this series. ❤️

Why Let Her Choose

Female Empowerment. I’m usually all about it. But, as time went on over three books, I began to like Kaitlyn less and less. She became whiny, unknowingly manipulative, overbearing. Her jealousy was unbecoming. She didn’t look empowered, just desperate and indecisive.
By the time the last book was concluding, I wanted both men to walk away from her, or I wanted her to keep walking, and I usually like a “why choose”.
Rolling Stone, even though the guy was skeevy, should have fired her within a week. Miles should have banned her from rehearsals and studio time (really… why was she always just hanging around?). Killian should have poisoned her with magic mushrooms. Riley should have cracked her head with a whiskey bottle. Ryan and Derek? They should have walked out, especially Ryan after helping her heal, etc..
She reminds me of this girl I used to know in high school that would bake a literal cake in the middle of a party; a soccer mom trying to be bad. Her music knowledge was abhorrent. Her crying and jealousy over fans seeking attention from the musicians was absurd. You’re dating a rockstar. Do you expect to constantly be the center of attention? Multiple people are warning you. What else do you need? The guy says he’s taking space, so you decide to sneak attack him. Did you expect a happy outcome? (Honestly, that part was well written.) Sure what he did was wrong but come on… she knew who he was. The way she thought and tried to rationalize her behavior was off putting and laughable. I felt suffocated by her and embarrassed for her.
All this said, the books were truly enjoyable, even though it may not sound like it. But the ending? Not so much. Again, the men should’ve walked away or she should’ve kept walking.
My feelings on this are so mixed, but the FMC is kind of an idiot.

Kindle unlimited…. You got me…..
the audacity to put three freaking books in one and not even let the reader know that’s what they downloaded.
I honestly didn’t even figure it out until over 50 percent in when I started thinking “ this book is fckin lonnnnnggggg”

At this point, no matter how terrible I think the book is, how STUPID all the characters are, I’m committed.

FMC is tragically spineless. Her most redeeming quality is shes attractive I guess? She’s supposed to be a journalist but she sucks at it. She cheats on her clingy boyfriend with a local loser who says he loves her after one day.
There’s a lot of back and forth at this point, should she bang local loser, or beg her ass hole ex to forgive her? She obviously chooses both.

Local loser vows never to forget her and promises to love her forever after they’ve known each other for TWO WEEKS.

Fast forward a few years… you’re probably thinking maybe the fmc has grown as a character? I sure as hell hoped . NOT. No she still sucks and is offered the opportunity of a lifetime to write for rolling stone magazine even though she isn’t qualified lol

Local losers turns into a BIG ROCKSTAR ( after like 3 years) and is apparently still pining for our FMC who he’s known for all of five minutes.

Our main lady says she’s not gonna sleep with him and she’s gonna keep it profesh. That last all of two days, now they are banging and the rolling stone article is all but forgotten.

The local loser turned BIG ROCKSTAR is an ass hole jerk who cheats on her and mentally manipulates her.

Oh don’t worry though, she forgives him in the end even though he doesn’t change at all.

The one nice, stable, green flag character who loves her and treats her well isn’t good enough. She wants BOTH MEN

Last 30 pages turns into a freaking reverse harem

First, I would only have started this book if all three books were completed. This is one book, not three. When authors do this, I realize for financial purposes, it is annoying, as if you read quite a few books in between the release of the second and third books, you lose context.

The first book was good. The female main character was a little annoying, but the book was good enough to move onto the second part. The second and third books were incredibly annoying. Both main characters were deplorable. What you don’t realize when you start the book, is that there is a third main character. He was the only Character in the book you could feel emotionally attached to.

I usually DNF books like this. But I wanted to see how it would resolve, good bad, or indifferent. I do not recommend this series at all.

Fantastic Read

I read a lot of books on Kindle. I have a few favourite authors, however I do find that many of the books I read just don’t really vary, same, same just different name! Well that cannot be said for Olivia Thorne, these books gave me a rollercoaster ride of different emotions. I constantly laughed and I definitely cried. It was a great read the whole way through and when I had to stop to do everyday life things I couldn’t wait to get back to reading. Needless to say I’m behind with the housework! I’m now going to start the Mafia books, as Mafia is my favourite and I’m really hoping for something very different from Olivia. If you’re reading this review because you can’t decide if you want to read the Rock Star’s Complete series, then make sure you do as it really is excellent.

You'll feel like a Voyeur on a rock group.. So naughty but so good!

Kaitlyn met & fell in love almost instantly with Derek while he was a broke, struggling wannabe rock star who had a case of love at first sight. At the time Kaitlyn was "on a break" from her on/off long time boyfriend Kevin & was planning on leaving in 2 weeks to go to college. She also met Derek's best friend & fellow band mate Ryan who also was thunder struck on meeting her. At the end of the 2 weeks, she left and broke Derek's heart along with her own. Fast forward 4 years and that's when the real gritty and intense storyline really takes hold.
All of the twists, turns and backstory have made this series one of my favorites that I will be sharing with family and friends for sure!
This was definitely a 10+ and needs to be added to everyone's TBR for sure!!

Sad

I really have a hard time with this story. Derick professes love but never looked for her. He was a jerk around women. Tawny had to be stupid to think she was special considering he was with loads of women they only hooked up once in awhile so that made no sense on her response to Katlyn. Her being with both is not fair to Ryan and they have to be faithful to her but share her? Ryan's attitude to her outside the studio made no sense either. Why couldn't she see what she was doing to this band and walk away. Her job was nonexistent so how was she paying her bills? To use the term wife beater for a tank top is an insult to women. Sharing won't last because Ryan will want security. Glad the bands together but for how long?

Interesting

Great story very well written, I just didn't care for the ending. I've read a number of books with multiple lovers but they shared their bond between all three and sex was less complicated and seemingly romantic. I don't want to spoil the story for those who have not read it. But the story became so complicated by the end the resolution was still divided and became more a sisters wives and a win for Kaitlyn. I guess sometimes you can have your cake and eat it too.

Wow

Just Wow! I guess a life time of disparaging remarks from a parent, boyfriend and others make you a lot leary. Knowing your girlfriends mother cheated on her father should of made you realize she'd leave you because of it. You knew she had trust issues. You knew she didn't want to do the interview but she tried, only to fall in Love with you again! Derek became the rockstar he said he would and he used that to his advantage and as to why he did what he did. They came to a weird ending but if it works for them, then by all means. It was a good story! I enjoyed it!

The first couple of pages I thought I'm going to really like this book . But as i read on i just couldn't get on with it . I had downloaded the box set so I persevered. Kaitlyn was very annoying bit of a prude . To begin with it felt like I was reading a book for a young teenager. Again I kept reading to see if it was going to get better but it didn't so I was quickly scrolling and reading parts if it . This book really wasn't for me.

Fantastic!

Wow! LOVED IT. Such an enthralling story!! It starts off a little slow but once it gets going, it’s flies at an exciting pace!! Kaitlyn is an extremely lucky lady in some ways and unlucky in others. I wish she could have eased up on Derek at the end, but to each his own. I’d love to read more about their future!! Either way, I found a new author to follow and I’m excited!!

Well rounded lil bit for everyone!!!

This series had me hooked, read it in 3 days. I couldn’t put it down. It covered all basis drama, heart ache, love, spice, angst, jealousy, music, drugs and alcohol. It was one persons journey through it all but u were able to c through the eyes of hers and others. Flowed easy to read and understand without extra bs to fill.

Wow

I don't know why but it took me a while to get into the story. However, then it went wham, everything got really intense. I can certainly see why it was so difficult to choose. The feelings were described so well it seemed the author made you feel you had to make a choice. I had a difficult choosing myself. Enjoyed the fantasy 😊.

Thoroughly enjoyed!

Getting to know the band, all of them, was fun between the pages!

The relationships, good bad & ugly were engrossing, with so many feelings!

Backstories were so interesting; poor Riley.

Not sure I enjoyed the last few chapters - re Derek, Ryan & Kaitlin, but it was the book, I really liked Ryan with Kaitlin, such love and trust.

Just WOE!!!

I can't begin to explain how I enjoyed this series!!! I went through every emotion, with every character! I didn't want it to end.... Maybe, HOPEFULLY we can get an extended epilogue to see how things turned out in the future!?!? I know I'm not the only fan wanting that lol 😊

Very Good!

Long but good! The storyline is well planned and executed. The characters are carefully created and most engaging, although Kaitlyn's whining fear was distracting at times. Pacing is controlled. Only suggestion would be that erotic scenes when placed so close together can lose their effectiveness. An enjoyable read!

Interesting

In took 2 days and completely finished reading the series. I really enjoyed it but was honestly a little disappointed about the ending. Really felt bad about Derek because I really think he was serious and really cared and wanted to be trusted. Ryan was great and just comfortable.

What a ride!

This was a reading of the complete series. I became so invested in the story of Kaitlyn and the band. Lots of angst, changes, emotional sweetness and Hot scenes. Really enjoyed it though it had me upset with the characters at times. Was long but well worth it.

This book was very hard to get through. I skipped over a lot of pages because it was meaningless and too detailed with nothing to add to the story. Also, I won’t spoil it but let’s just say I was VERY disappointed with the ending. Probably won’t read anything from this author again.

Amazing series

Great storyline. It keeps you interested, and something is always happening. All characters are interesting in their own ways and consistently involved throughout the storyline. The sex and drama of the story is great! Would love more books/series like this!

What a series!

This is the best Rockstar romance I have read so far. Full of fantastic drama that left me reeling. What an emotional rollercoaster this was! I just could not work out how it was going to finish but the ending didn’t disappoint!!

Amazing

If you like rock stars, two best friends in love with the same woman, band dynamics, and lots of steamy bedroom scenes this series is for you. Throw in some heartbreak, rehab & a happily ever after to complete the series.

Average

I found this series of books lacking substance. Most of the time I wanted to slap some sense into the h. She was indecisive and whiny. The sex scenes were over the top and my opinion to long, being a few chapters long.

it was a good read

Kaitlyn was selfish by being so wishy washy. Always whining about ruining peoples lives but doing it anyway. But I read the series because I needed to know how it ended.

meh

Hated Kaitlyn. Was hoping she would end up with neither. She was selfish and offered nothing to either relationship. Played both men and used her mom cheating as an excuse. Loved Ryan and was hoping he would find someone better!
