An outstanding finale!
Having followed our tortured, wise, sometimes aggravating mage, Farden, from the first pages of The Written, to the last in To Kill A God, I feel his story was brought to a satisfying, yet bittersweet conclusion. I won’t lie, I shed a few tears.
Our cast of characters resume trying to rebuild after the cataclysmic upheaval of Loki’s attempt to wrest control of Emaneska from the denizens who inhabit it, and the gods who want nothing more than supreme control. His whispers are turning allies against The Forever King Farden, and his young Protégée Mithrid.
While Farden tries to rebuild Scalussen as New Scalussen, Mithrid struggles with her own personal demons. Her power almost consumed her and would have destroyed an entire city of people, without the intervention of Farden.
They need stronger, more powerful allies if they are going to survive the final war against the liar and trickster Loki. And where they find them is the real surprise.
But Loki has gathered a deadly ally, long thought to have been wiped out 1,000 years ago. And they desire nothing more than to wipe out humans, and rule in unfettered violence. The clash of these beasts of myth nearly wipes out everyone. Their magic is ancient, and their mastery of bow and sword are unmatched.

An end to an Era.
I was always drawn to Emaneska, so much so that I've wreread the series within a year of finishing it the first time. I savoured every day waiting for the release of To Kill a god and when it was 2 months before the release of this book I read Forever king and Heavy lies the crown back to back to get to this epic finale. When there's a >70 page chapter at the end you know it's an epic battle. This book was jam packed and written so smoothly. 5/5 I am so glad I finished Sclussean Chronicles but now I'm upset that after 2 years of waiting to start/complete this series I did it.
Thank you Ben Galley, you've did it after 14 years of Emaneska, you did it.

What a ride. I did a re-read of the series before reading the final book, and I am so glad I did. Was sad for it to finish and say goodbye to my favourite mage. Thank you Ben for the journey, one of my favourite series, now I just need all the special editions!

So good and now I'm sad
I loved both Emaneska series and am a bit sad that the story has come to an end. The world building and character development was great and I was fully invested in Farden's journey. Can't wait for the next offering by Mr. Galley.
