Solid and Informative Start

I generally found the book well written and informative -- more the type of book one turns to for education, awareness and personal growth as opposed to a book for leisure reading!
For social work, psychology or child development majors this book will be more of a review most likely rather than "news." That is the case for me. I still found it helpful however.
My one "complaint" if one could even call it that, is the book seems to focus mainly on romantic intimate relationships. I wish it would have also included friendships both long term and how to approach building on new friendships when you have a fair amount in common but approach life and stressors very differently or when one friend is perhaps single and the other married, employed vs stay at home. Or, one is much more emotionally needy than the other. Perhaps a sequel is in order?
