A new drug on the street promises to fulfill the user's deepest desires without any effort. It takes over the body and leaves the mind to sit back and enjoy the ride. A secret organization with hands in all twelve districts wants it investigated, and they have just the martyr in mind. Still shaking the dust off of the assault on the Mengko District six months prior, corporate saboteur Heath Fallows has his plate full dealing with a new boss, old skeletons, and tenacious goons chasing a mark on his head. Adding a steaming bowl of blackmail with evidence of a paid assassination and the livelihood of a former lover won't make things easier, but gives him a deeper look into the dark needs of humanity and the evils outside civilization. Impulse is a grit-your-teeth and laugh-out-loud joyride of action and espionage.

Husband to a wonderful woman who challenges me and pushes me in all the best ways... and makes me do laundry. Father to three incredible girls (I am the masculine minority) who make a hero out of me.

I write because it's my passion. The rest of my heart belongs to my family.

Impulse is the heart-pounding follow up to Bryant's outstanding debut, Towers. He brings us an incredible story of Heath Fallows, a snarky anti-hero who reminds me more and more of a dystopian Robin Hood. With beautiful writing to counter the gritty world he created, Towers is a thrill ride you can't miss.

A great follow up to the first book, although you don't have to have read the first one to get this one. It helps a little bit but it's not essential.

This is a year after the events of the first book and Heath is in trouble again, no surprise there. He is tough and street wise, and up to his neck in debt to underground crime lords. He is handed over to a high end criminal to pay of some of his debt, and at the same time the 'Agency' are blackmailing him for information.

I didn't speed through this one as quickly as the first but it's well written and helps you escape from your world for a bit.
