A tale of passion and power unfolds in the shadows of a world where magic stirs, and dragons rule the skies.
A formidable demon king with the might to shift into a dragon and command the very winds finds himself on a quest that could alter the fate of the three realms. When he discovers a hidden dragon goddess, one of many secreted for their own safety, the king and goddess’s fates and hearts entwine.
In a story of romance and determination, the couple races to defeat an evil shard intent on conquering their realms. Will the demon king save the goddess before the threads of destiny unravel, or are they both doomed?
This romantic fantasy weaves together the thrill of danger and the allure of the forbidden, promising a journey that will leave hearts racing and yearnings fulfilled.
I loved this book. I really liked how she captured him as a lizard at first. It was thrilling to watch her evolve as their love grows and they fight for each other.
What a hard review to write. I don’t want to leave two stars, so I’m settling on three. This book doesn’t live up to its potential. There are some editing errors, but that isn’t what bothered me about this story.
This story is a little Miss the Dragon and Love Between Fairy and Devil. (Fans of both will recognize it.) There is also plenty of fresh plot points in this one, unlike book 1.
Where it fell apart for me: the romance was flat. It is instalove, which isn’t a problem. But these two had a bond where they could literally feel the others emotions. Where is the room for Liliah to doubt? There wasn’t. And then suddenly it is all closed door bedroom activity, as if that would fix the romance that wasn’t quite working.
The editing that bothered me is that this is a fantasy works based on ancient China. It it inspired by xianxia! Yet, it is the blue we have geishas. In that same lifetime we have Liliah calling her parents Abba and Omma. So Korean now? And it’s Appa (아빠 ) Abba is Hebrew. Add that in with geisha and it threw me out of the world so badly it wasn’t easy to keep reading. Except the romance suddenly being lust was a huge turn off.
But I wanted to finish it. I’m on the fence for the next one.
And:
Dear Author, Please don’t give up. Fix the issues going forward. You are creative and have a gift for storytelling. We in the west need more xianxia inspired works. Sincerely, Your reader
