FitzDuncan #8

FitzDuncan's Navy

Rate this book
Uneasy Lies the Head that Wears the Crown. Does it also apply to the prince?

Casimir FitzDuncan is adopted as King Mark's heir and immediately given a new assignment—to build a navy for Aquileia. His ships will be enforcing a blockade of the Rhetian Empire. While the vessels are being built, he and Fenwick are sent to the southern continent to meet with the rulers there to communicate this.

As the two travel further west, they learn of potential trouble brewing in the kingdom of Hier. What they find is far worse than expected. Resolving the trouble nearly costs Caz and Fenwick their lives.

After their difficult return home, Caz and Fenwick join the crews on some of the new ships and take part in sea trials. Misfortune leads them to an unexpected treasure, though it is not of the monetary variety. Instead, they bring back a priceless artifact.

The year comes to a close, with the festivities of the Winter Solstice. In the midst of revelry, a messenger comes with a dire request. Caz and Fenwick are called south again. Things are even worse than before.

The Dark Lord threatens to control the southern continent. Will Caz and Fenwick be strong enough to stop this, or die trying?

wonderful series. well written

The author writes a very tight story. The series so far has been very consistent. This writer has not made the mistake that many I have read recently thinking the more convoluted the better, This is a good story and easy to read. Highly recommend.

Lots of adventures for the new Crown Prince
Dark Mages seems to be proliferating as Cas grows into his new role. His navy adds a lot of new opportunities and dangerous times as the Chinese translation of such usually foretells.
