Nicole Wilde loves nothing more than hitting the road with her rockstar best friend, Dylan King, and his band The Burnouts.
Sure, life on the road can be chaotic, but Nicole lives for it. That is, of course, until Dylan does something crazy – which happens more often than you might think.
Driving home in a blizzard was never going to be easy, but when it's Dylan who finds them all somewhere to crash for the night after the tour bus breaks down, Nicole has no idea what a wild time she is in for.
This certainly wasn't how she was planning on spending her Valentine's Day, but sometimes true love is closer than you might think.
A fun, fast-paced novella from the million-copy bestselling author.

Portia MacIntosh is the bestselling author of over 30 romantic comedy novels.
From disastrous dates to destination weddings, Portia’s romcoms are the perfect way to escape from day to day life, visiting sunny beaches in the summer and snowy villages at Christmas time. Whether it’s southern Italy or the Yorkshire coast, Portia’s stories are the holiday you’re craving, conveniently packed in between the pages.
Formerly a journalist, Portia has left the city, swapping the music biz for the moors, to live the (not so) quiet life with her husband and her dog in Yorkshire.
Bit all over the place. Did not feel the romance (or the fun I was promised) and was really sure it would turn into a horror story at one point.
Apparently the author has more stories with these characters, which I noticed because of a lack of background. OK it was a novella, so generally no background, but things were too fast and too try hard for me.
Too bad! Not sure if this author is for me. 2.5 stars rounded down. EDIT: took away a star when I weighed it against my other reads.
That was … interesting? Now I know what happened all those years ago and can go back to Ex in the City and understand it better as I finish it up properly! I should have started here but didn’t realize this novella existed before.
This was certainly a wild idea and a crazy nightmare of a snowed in night for Nicole and the band, and a very strange family. Now I return to the main book to find out the rest of Nicole and Dylan’s story!
I felt like I was dropped into someone's life with no prior context at first (not having read prior works of PM). Then the story drew me in and I loved this groups one wild night. Hilarious and very cute. As far as it goes the story should be a chapter or two inside a book.
Overall, it was short and amusing like a "People Magazine" article.
What actually was that? Confusing, chaotic and eventful for no reason. Felt like events were happening for the plot. I disliked the writing a lot in the nicest way possible. Even if it’s a prequel, I’m very confused how it leads to anything just felt like a wattpad ramble. No idea what the writer was going for but it was very much not necessary. Put me off rockstar romance books.
Didnt know what to expect, but I hoped it would be up to Portia's normal standard. I wasnt disappointed. It was funny, but not her normal rom-com style, thought it was going off on a dramatic sinister twist, not what you associate with rom-com.
Nicole Wilde loves nothing more than hitting the road with her rock star best friend, Dylan King, and his band The Burnouts. Sure, life can be chaotic but Nicole lives for it. That is, of course, until Dylan does something crazy- which happens more often than you might think. After a blizzard and a close call with their tour bus and driver, Dylan decides to use his fame to its advantage and ends up getting him, Nicole and the band somewhere to stay whilst they wait for backup. What he didn't realize was the girl offering a place to stay is a bit of an obsessed fan of Dylan's and also a teenager who lives with her mum and dad on their Farm. The crew are weary of the family and working on the farm to help pay their way wasn't what they were expecting either, so when one of their own doesn't turn up for dinner, they brave the night on the bus instead.
3.25 ⭐️ this was actually a bit creepy but was good too. I know it’s a prequel but I don’t love friends to lovers stories that much it just gives me trust issues so not sure if I’ll read the next book 😂
Enjoyed the book, it's too short, even for a prequel. Will definitely read the main book Ex in the City. This book left too much in the air. But I loved all of the characters.
