Aaron was a veteran and a single parent to an adopted son, Zander. His life was full or so he thought. Nothing seemed right once he saw Bella hauling a loveseat up the stairs by herself. His tenant was strong and just what he needed at his gym. Sam, Aaron’s partner, hired her quickly to man the front desk.
Bella was new and ready to make new friends. Everyone at the gym was friendly. Everyone except her new boss and landlord. The one person she wanted to get to know better avoided her. Bella did develop a relationship with Lex. Lex trained with Aaron at the gym. Lex saw glances and looks Aaron and Bella were giving to one another. She pushed Bella to force Aaron to make a move.
Aaron did not want to cross that line. Despite wanting to get to know Bella better, Aaron tried to keep his distance. What will Aaron do when Bella ups the ante and starts flirting with members? She is his and now he may have lost his chance to let her know. Will Aaron come to his senses before he loses Bella before he can even get her?
Aaron is the MMC, a veteran, single dad and owner of a gym. Bella is the FMC who is renting an apartment above the gym that Aaron hires to be the receptionist for his gym. He fights with his feelings of wanting to make a move on Bella, yet keep their professional relationship intact as well. Bella moves to their town to get a fresh start and is also fighting feelings for Aaron. Things eventually heat up as tension rises and that leaves for some *spicy* moments. I would give it a 🌶️🌶️🌶️ on the spice level. Aaron is definitely dominate! I enjoyed this hot boss dilemma very much! I loved the addition of side characters like Sam, Lex and Zander. It really helped to see how the main characters grew personally with these added relationships. Zander was the best kid! I love how he bonded with Bella over their love of books! 💙
This book hooked me in from the first chapter. I loved these characters from the start. They felt like real people, people you could think of in your own community. The story line was interesting and there was some clear character development seen in Aaron. There was also a bit of unexpected spice in this book which I liked. It suited the story line and these scenes were really well described, not too corny but realistic which is always more favourable. Would I have loved the characters to step outside the gym a bit more, yes but overall a really captivating read.
I will preface this by saying I never read the synopsis for fear it will give away too much. I immediately thought this was going to be an office romance as in a corporate type atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised to find this wasn't the setting. Aaron was a veteran single dad of his deceased friends son, Zander. Bella was starting over after a breakup in a new town and eventually started to work for Aaron at his gym. I liked the characters, especially Bella and Lex. I think Aarons character was way too much in his own head. I think the sexy scenes could have used a bit more spice but they were still fun to read. It was a good story with likeable characters and quite enjoyable. I gave four stars because I thought it could use more.spice and the flow while it kept up the pace left you having to fill in a lot more with your imagination.
This was definitely a slow burn! (Which I wasn't expecting!) But the spicy scenes that did happen were good! Aaron was definition of grumpy in this grumpy sunshine. He fought the chemistry between them for the majority of the book, even though they clearly had feelings for each other! The ending was sweet & steamy once they got on the same page!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Aaron is a military veteran, business owner, and single dad…plus a bit of a grouch. Bella is a 20 something girl ready to start a new life for herself in a brand new town. Their attraction is immediate! The supporting characters are amazing! It was a slow burn with spice sprinkled in here and there. I enjoyed reading this book and recommend if you are searching for an age gap/HEA book.
The chemistry between Bella and Aaron is scorching however, he is determined to keep his distance, not only due to their age-gap but also the fact that she works as a receptionist for his gym. The longer he resists the more he wants her and if she decides to pursue anyone else, he will lose his chance to explore their connection. This was a fantastic read with really great moments.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review.
Aaron thinking he is to old for Bella is just z joke she can't stop thinking and fantasing about being with him since they first met. Funny, hot, and frustrating at times. Great characters and story.
This is a small town cute slow burn romance. He is a cinnamon roll to the 9th degree. She is a sweet but sassy. Must read for the small town low heat lovers.
Aaron owns the local Gym, & Bella is new to town after leaving her ex and making a new start, she rents the apartment above Aaron’s gym. There’s only so long they can ignore the undercurrent. This was a refreshing read, something a little different the norm and the suspense of the building attraction between Bella and Aaron was scorching.
I received this as an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
