He’s reserved, a master at controlling the present. The one thing they didn’t expect? Playing detectives together.
Glo Easton knows old books have secrets. She just never expected them to be dangerous.
When a prestigious job at a Massachusetts estate turns into a literal headache—a very real bump to the head—Glo finds herself medically benched under the same roof as her billionaire boss.
Callum Waltons is the definition of a Stern Brunch Man: all boardroom composure and devastatingly attentive behind closed doors. The kind of man who shares midnight strawberries and makes employer-employee boundaries feel like a very thin suggestion.
While they investigate a century-old mystery, late-night conversations turn into something far less professional.
But in a house filled with famous forgeries, Glo can’t help wondering… Is what’s growing between them just another illusion?
Or is it the one truth that finally deserves daylight?
This dual-POV, closed-door romcom novella features witty banter, forced proximity with an off-limits billionaire boss, a dash of cozy mystery, mild language, and amateur sleuthing that just might just lead to forever.
Lila Marlow writes closed-door romance where swoon-worthy moments, witty banter, and all the messy feels come together—without explicit intimate scenes, but with plenty of sizzling chemistry. Her stories are layered with depth, stirring journeys, little secrets, and relationships worth building a future on. Perfect for readers who crave a romantic slow burn with a slightly sexier, emotionally richer vibe. Her love for storytelling began in her teens, but life tossed her a few curveballs her way, eventually leading her in sunny California. There, the surf, sand, and endless sunshine fuel her creativity. You’ll find Lila tucked beneath a California oak tree, breathing in the scent of orange poppies while her imagination runs wild. Her next swoony romance is always just a page away.
This is an adorable, fast-paced book, just what the doctor ordered. In this book, we meet Callum and Glo. Callum hires Glo to work for him, restoring things in his library.
On her first day, she stumbles upon a hidden room, but someone gets a little testy and knocks her block off. Callum finds her and gets her medical attention. From that point on, the sparks fly faster than a sparkler on the Fourth of July. Will they risk their working relationship for a steamy fling? You’ll just have to read to find out.
The only thing that was a major bummer was that it felt super rushed at the end.
Thanks to Book Sirens for sending me an advanced copy to read and review.
Glo (short for Glorietta) has a Master’s in Library and Information Science, with a focus in digital archiving. You’d think that would be enough to get her a job in her field, but jobs like that are thin on the ground. Thankfully, she gets an interview with billionaire Callum Waltons, who wants her to organize his extensive family collection. Though she’s not someone with decades of experience, she knows what she’s doing.
Callum is trying to patch things back together after an earthquake damaged the oldest part of his family library. He hires Glo for the job, but the quake damaged the cottage that she was supposed to live in, so he provides money for an apartment until the cottage is livable. And even though he doesn’t admit it to himself yet, he’s very attracted to Glo.
Her first day in the library, she finds a secret room behind one of the bookcases. When she goes in, armed with a flashlight, she makes a discovery, and then is promptly hit on the head and falls unconscious. At this point, I usually brace myself for the inaccuracy of people being hit on the head and/or knocked out in books, movies, and television. Here's the thing — if you knock someone out, they’re only out for maybe two minutes. If they’re out longer than that, then something is very, very wrong. In this case, that knock on the head gives Glo a concussion, and she’s still unconscious when Callum finds her. Well done to the author for that realism.
This story doesn’t go where I expected, and that’s not a complaint. Not everything has to be dramatic or have a big reveal. The gentle relationship blooming between Callum and Glo is lovely, and I appreciated that there wasn’t any of this “she’s not cultured/rich/smart enough” stuff that you often see amongst rich families. No, none of that matters to this couple, and they get their happy ending.
If you love stories that have a bit of mystery mixed in to the romance, you’ll enjoy this book.
What Happens When You Combine Love and Books - Glorietta felt like she was in heaven as she catalogued her new boss’s home library filled with regular and rare books, but her attraction towards her boss made her job difficult. Callum had given up on relationships after his breakup, so he tried everything possible to dismiss the Callum he felt towards Glorietta from the moment they met. Unfortunately, everything Callum and Glorietta tried to do to maintain a professional relationship was destroyed when they were forced to spend time together following her accident.
Callum ‘s protective instincts kicked in after the incident and he took his job of taking care of Glorietta very serious, which heightened their attraction for each other and led to them making it possible to get to know each other better. As luck would have it, Glorietta and Callum finally acknowledged their love for each other and he managed to convince her to give them a chance to get a happy future together.
This was a really enjoyable story, filled with drama, suspense and some angst, but most importantly a heartwarming journey to love. I was hooked on this page turner from the beginning until the end. This is the first book that I have read from this author and it definitely won’t be the last.
I received a copy of this book free and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really wanted to like this book more as it has my two favorite things mystery and romance. This book seriously lacked in both. While the initial mystery had promise it falls flat rather quickly and I often found myself bored with the revelations that didn't seem like revelations. It just felt too convenient and made me disinterested. I feel that the author could have flushed out the mystery better and offer more twists and turns but it seems the author got too caught up in trying to make the romance seem believable. Which is another thing I didn't buy the characters relationship even towards the end it felt that if the author had more time and more chapters the story could have been better. Like the whole thing with the side character Paul, it seems the author meant to do something with him but forgot he existed just to tie everything up in a neat bow. Overall I just kept wanting more from this story that just wasn't given to me. That being said, this book is a solid 3 it wasn't terrible but it also wasn't perfect. "The billionaire and the librarian…? Yeah, that could totally be another title for this book. I’m a jobless foreign language translator. So, when an opportunity came up, I packed my car and hit the road. Destination: The Waltons property, Moore, Massachusetts."
Cute clean romance. Set in a small town that happens to have a huge mansion with three single billionaire brothers living in it. Sign me up. Callum and Gloretta are supposed to be American but come off as British. There are a few words or phrases that aren't used in America, not even Massachusetts.
A billionaire with a terrific library and a librarian looking for a job. Perfect set-up for romance. Throw in a mystery and it added up to an enjoyable short read.
This was a sweet story where the author in her great descriptions made me feel like I was their in the Walton's grand dining room, living room and the pink room, not to mention the library where Glorietta spent much of her time. She was hired to help with the library getting back to it's pristine condition after an earthquake caused significant damage.
Callum, the oldest of the 3 sons from the Waltons family was in charge of hiring this specialist for handling and working with their rare and antique books, manuscripts and then translating after getting the library assembled. Callum and Glorietta's romance was sweet albeit a short period of time, but they were truly made for each other. Enjoyed this book and the author's realistic descriptions.
I received an early ARC copy for my free and voluntary review.
Glorietta and Callum our main characters. Glorietta Bookseller and translator and Callum Billionaire with one goal: to rebuild the family bookshop after a serious earthquake. The two will find themselves working together and forced under the same roof after an attack on Glorietta. For both of them it was attraction at first sight from the first moment, and finding themselves living under the same roof was not easy. From that moment on, Callum is intent on understanding the mystery behind the attack and above all the books found!! I really appreciated the story between the two and the little suspense behind finding the books. A book to be devoured in a few hours, a fresh romance suitable for those people who want to enter the world of romance and let's face it who doesn't love a bit of adventure in a love story!!
This is a sweet easy to read story, that is perfect to curl up for a lazy afternoon read. Glorietta is surprised to recieve the call telling her she got the position as live in librarian in the Waltons historic library after repairs were complete. Callum loved the history his family maintained with the grounds buildings and library, which he held great fondness with. When a mysterious accident befalls Glorietta on her first day, these two are drawn to each other. But she had to remember he was her billionaire boss and she couldn't risk losing this job. Can they find out what happened and will the both be able to hide their feelings. This is an easy to read book with lovely characters. I'm looking forward to more from this series
The author grabs you from the beginning that you must read this book in one sitting. It's a real page turner. Glorietta gets a job at a private family library complete with a place to stay. Her boss, Callum Walton, a billionaire from a very well healed family teams up with Glorietta to find the family mystery that is unearthed due to an earthquake. Gloriette is attacked and things get really going making she and Callum even more determined not to mention they are falling for each other. With twists and turns and some danger thrown in along with some romance, we are totally entertained from beginning to the very end. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Forced proximity 🏡 + billionaire boss + accidental housemates, Housemates with My Billionaire Boss was a fun, easy, bingeable romance with a little bit of a thriller on the side, awkward moments, banter, and the kind of “we absolutely should NOT be doing this” energy 😂 … the billionaire boss trope can sometimes feel overdone, but this one actually managed to make the MMC feel charming instead of just “rich and emotionally unavailable” 😂
The story definitely leans more cozy/fun than deeply emotional, which worked perfectly for the vibe. It’s very much the kind of book you pick up when you want something entertaining, flirty, and easy to read “just one more chapter.”
When she gets the chance to work for the Waltons she jumps at it. A new job, with housing is just what she's looking for. Finding a secret room with what looks like extremely rare books in the library and sparks with one of her bosses is even better. Getting knocked out and ending up with a concussion...not so much. What's with the room and books? Who attacked her and why? Will anything come of the attraction that seems mutual?.
I received a copy of this book from the author. Review voluntarily given.
Glorietta gets hire to be the librarian at Callum's family estate. Sparks fly between them when they meet and its not long before things heat up between them. Callum is drawn to Glorietta and when she gets hurt in a secret room, she has found it makes them grow closer. Will their time together grow into something more?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book over would enjoy.
ARC Review—From BookSirens Housemates With My Billionaire Boss by Lila Marlow Star Rating: 3.5⭐️ Pub Date: Feb 14, 2024(Newly added on BookSirens) Genre: Mystery/Romance Format: Digital
This was very short and cute with a slight mystery of what happened to FMC when something happened to her. I would have liked this a lot more if there was more. There wasn’t anything wrong with it, cute story very fluffy and she works as a library archivist which was interesting I just wanted more within the romance. I also didn’t find grumpy/sunshine at all MMC wasn’t at all grumpy.
This is a story of Glorietta who has a degree in library science and a master’s degree in translation of Arabic and Hebrew. She wants a job in a history-rich library. After a telephone job interview she is hired by Callum Waltons, a billionaire. Glorietta and Callum join forces to solve a family mystery that is discovered because of an earthquake. This is a well-written story which kept my interest to the end. I can highly recommend this short story.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy Lila Marlow’s “Housemates with My Billionaire Boss,” if like interesting, sweet, clean romance with a touch of mystery. Another heartwarming aspect of the book was the tenderness and care that the MMC showed the FMC!!
If you only have a couple of hours to read, I’d definitely recommend that you pick up this enjoyable, quick read!
Thank you, Lila Marlow, for the opportunity to read an ARC of your book in exchange for my honest review!
*employee x boss romance *dual POV *billionaire romance *mystery although i enjoyed this, the plot felt undeveloped. there were just so many loose ends and things wrapped up too abruptly with no explanations. the fmc’s head trauma and recovery was really unrealistic. the entire mystery part was just really surface level and confusing to follow. lots of things were repeated and it made it redundant. i liked the characters and their personalities but it just felt meh.

Moving in with my boss was never part of the plan. Annoyingly calm, unfairly attractive. His place. My temp Hitchhiker's stop
And absolutely no complications. Except… late-nights caretaking and things blurred.
Housemates with My Billionaire Boss is a dual-POV, closed-door romcom novella with witty banter, forced proximity with an off-limits billionaire boss, a dash of cozy mystery, mild language, and amateur sleuthing that just might just lead to forever.
A sweet and wholesome clean romance with a hint of mystery and a bit of suspense thrown in. Callum and his two brothers need help restoring their family library. Enter Glo and her ever present feline companion.
When Glo is mysteriously attacked, she is forced to take up residence with her new boss and the two discover they have more in common than just literature.

While the story hidden in here has the potential to be cute, the execution really missed the mark. The writing was incredibly choppy which was distracting. This absolutely would not fall under the category of "contemporary" either; it's written more like something my grandma would have read as a child.
This was an enjoyable short story. Glorietta is given a job working at a library. She meets her boss Callum and falls for him instantly. However, one night she is attacked. Thankfully, in the end she is okay. Plus, her and Callum get their happy ending.
Sweet story of love and devotion as Callum and Glorietta work to restore the library and find the mystery of the secret room revealed be the earthquake.this Great read.
Quick fun romance. Starts as friends him helping her out find a house. He’s the top notch realtor and wealthy. She’s a simply elementary school teacher. I enjoy their banter.
