I haven’t been home in a few years. I’m not sure I’ll stay, just need to take care of some business before I move on again. But then Carloine Wright returns to Plume Island and well, she’s forever been on my list of unfinished business. I’m not sure if Caroline—presently the darling of Hollywood, a bit dinged after a very public break-up with a Hollywood jerk—is just laying low or if there’s any chance we can pick up where we left off when we were just kids. Yeah, I’m a glutton. I’ll let her break my heart again.
Caroline
I have a love/hate relationship with Hollywood and Travis Beck. I come back to Plume Island, smack in the middle of nowhere, whenever I need to get away. But now Travis is back and suddenly my little island doesn’t seem to offer the same escape. I can’t forgive him for how he literally rode off into the sunset without me all those years ago, but then I can’t look at him without recalling how it was for that one glorious summer. There’s no rest, no relaxation, and apparently, no getting away from the paparazzi, Travis, or those long-simmering feelings.
Welcome to the Plume Island Romance series, a delightful journey filled with laughter, love, and those little unexpected moments that can lead to the sweetest of romances. This is a cute second-chance, small-town romance. Travis and Caroline dated when they were younger. Travis joined the military and left Caroline in Plume Island when he went to boot camp. Although they promised to stay in touch, that did not happen. Now, years later, they are both back home at the same time. This story follows them as they navigate the miscommunication that caused them to not speak for so long and the feelings they still have for each other.
'Mr. Right Back Where We Started' is a short, closed-door romance that will make you smile. I'm excited to read the next couple's story.
Thank you, Carly Greer and Literary Inspired, for the e-ARC. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
The Plume Island saga continues with Travis and Caroline! They were truly the sweetest, him all broody ex Marine and her all Ms. Hollywood, both still very much attached to the place they grew up in, Plume Island. It’s crazy to think they’ve lost so much time because of the mistake of someone else, leading to misunderstanding and wasted time. It was amazing watching them grow fond of each other again… with all the small town Plume Island feels in between. I have loved reading about Nick and Eloise (who was named Georgia though in book 2?), and the other side characters mentioned throughout the story.
The story might have been in the shorter side but it had everything in it my heart desired for Travis and Caroline.

With the next book in the Plume Island series, Mr. Right Back Where We Started, Carly Greer has once again written a lovely story, with really nice characters.
Moviestar Caroline runs to her old home on Plume Island to escape the paparazzi and bumps into her High School Sweetheart Travis. Their relationship from long ago ended rather suddenly. From the very first page I loved this book, thanks to the flowing and easy writing style. It is a lovely and relaxing read. The dual POV is a great asset to the story, as this way you learn how Caroline and Travis feel and think. The attraction is still there, but there is also a lot of hurt, because both think the other did nothing to help the realationship survive after Travis went to a military bootcamp.
I had a feeling where the story would go, but that did not alter my feelings for this story at all. Caroline is a wonderful person, not highstrung like big moviestars and Travis is the one who has not forgotten his High School love. It was lovely to read how these two got a second chance. Near the end there was this revelation I had suspected somewhat.
All in all is Mr. Right Back Where We Started a lovely story, with a great flowing writing style, in an island setting with wonderful island characters, a story about memories that never faded, and with really nice characters. It is an ideal book to relax and one I can definitely recommend. I loved it even more than the first book in this series, but these books are stand alones so you can read them in any order you’d like. I can’t wait for the next book!
Oh my goodness. I was not prepared for the angst in this one.
Once again, Carly managed to write such a captivating sweet closed-door romance. I was drawn into this story from the very beginning. This one is definitely my favourite so far 🩷
This is the 2nd in the Plume Island series and follows Caroline, a Hollywood, actress and Travis, an ex-marine.
8 years ago, Travis and Caroline had a whirlwind romance together before he left for boot camp. They made a promise to each other to keep in touch and send letters while Travis was away. However, due to unfortunate circumstances, they never did hear from each other again until they found themselves back on Plume Island again at the same time for the first time in 8 years.
They are instantly drawn to each other just like all those years ago but struggle as their past continues to put a wedge between them.
This story was such a beautiful second-chance. He has all the angst and sweetness without any of the spice.
🌶️
Tropes/themes ✨Second chance ✨Celebrity ✨Ex-marine ✨Angst ✨It's always been you ✨Miscommunication (external factor)
This story picks up on Plume Island where book 1 told the story of Eloise and Nick. Now we get to see Travis and Caroline's story.
8 years ago Travis and Caroline had a passionate whirlwind romance. The kind that gives you all the feels and the rest of the world melts away when you are with them. Then Travis left...
He went to boot camp and then into the Marines. They promised to keep in touch but somehow it never happened. Caroline moved on and became an actress, and life just went two different directions.
8 years later, Caroline returned to Plume Island after a very public break up, and she was not prepared to see Travis, nor was he to see her. Are they going to be able to overcome the past and offer each other forgiveness? Did their paths just take them too far apart to rekindle anything?
Carly's books always have cute, quirky characters, and this was a closed door romance. Overall, I loved the book, and the character build was great in this one!
I love everything Carly Greer, and this is no different! I adored these characters stories, the love, the struggle, everything! But I felt like there was a lot missing. The ending just didn't feel resolved and knowing that we won't get anything past the epilogue made me feel empty.
Plot: Another short romance taking place on Plume Island between an ex-marine and a movie star visiting home from LA. Lots of history between the two, mistakes. And miscommunication, but the love is there!
Characters: Both characters have very strong ideals, feelings, and perspectives which causes them to butt heads quite often. I love the personalities built, but I wish there was just a little bit more!
Overall, I loved the book. The basis, the story, the couple. But, something was missing from this being a solid 4 star book.
If you need to clean your pallet from some of the darker romances on the market, this sweet clean romance is Book 2 in the Plume Island series. This second chance romance is the story of Travis and Caroline.
Caroline and Travis met when she was 18 and he was 21 then he left for boot camp. Fast forward 10 years. Travis is out of the military and is back home on Plume Island. Caroline is a famous actress and is back home to hide out from very public break up. When the two meet up again, sparks fly. Both believe the other ghosted them all those years ago.
This author is quickly becoming my favorite when I want a change of pace. When I want a quick read with lots of laughter, friendships, love, and clean. The plots are easy to read and and will stay with well after you reach the last page. These are the best books to give you that HEA without a lot of drama.
This was such a cute read! I love a good small town romance with some good old fashion drama just like those hallmark movies!! ♥️
This book follows the story of Caroline and Travis who used to date way back when and because of misunderstandings and people getting in the way they drifted apart but after Caroline wants a break from the limelight she finds herself back at home looking to sell and renovating her parents home and consider buying a house in Old Town to always have. Travis is back from the Marines after his foster mother has passed away and hasn't felt the need to leave town just yet, when Caroline comes home. This book reminded me so much of Dear John and Forever My Girl. Travis wanted to keep his distance but he couldn't help but to seep looking out for Caroline which eventually brings them closer and they start to unravel what really happened all those years! If you are looking for a quick romance read this is the book for you.
We love a sweet romance on Plume Island! We love a cast of characters that are in their late 20s, early 30s! We love a happy ending that is as sweet as the characters. We love the Mr. Right series.
Usually a dark romance reader, Plume Island books are amazing pallette cleansers. Quick reads that give all the good feelings.
Caroline, Hollywood Starlight, is back on Plume Island after being cheated on. Home to clean out her childhood home and to avoid L.A. Travis is back for his foster mother's funeral. Also hoping to avoid Caroline, his long lost love. Within a day they run into each other and the chemistry is there, but neither can fully trust the other after the disaster 8 years ago.
Tropes: 2nd Chance at Love Miscommunication Protective MMC Closed-Door Romance
Aww I loved this, total misunderstanding and extenuating circumstances lead to a second chance. The whole time and reading both POVs I kept trying to decipher what had happened and how they both had different memories about what had happened between them, the ending with them both realizing and coming to terms with what had happened was refreshing and wonderfully uncomplicated, especially with Travis talking about how the best thing to do was move forward. I really love how that was handled. The constant bickering and love hate attraction they had was hilarious, how they wanted to be mad but chemistry keeps getting in the way. A cute story all around in a beautiful setting! That you so much for the ARC!
I absolutely love this series. Carly writes the most cutest stories. I love how all the characters are intertwined and you get a great sense of the town and how it’s laid out.
Caroline is a movie star returning to her small home town where she grew up. Travis is an ex marine who has also come home. This couple have history and tension is thick. I will say more! Agh it’s just such a cute read.
Highly recommend if you like -small town romance -second chance romance -small town reunion -miscommunication (done well)
Another sweet quick read highlighting the small town charm of Plume Island! Caroline and Travis had a tragic end to their young love, but when they run into each other after eight years there’s a lot to figure out. Especially since Caroline is a famous movie star just coming of age messy public breakup. Although they’ve both been back over the years they’d managed to successfully avoid each other until this trip, and now have to come to terms with what happened that summer daughter years before.
Thanks to the author and Literary Inspired for the early glimpse at the send of the Plume Island series!
As with every Carly Greer book I’ve read, I finished this in a day! I absolutely adore her writing and this next Plume Island story is no different!
This felt like a play on The Notebook and I am obsessed. An absolute swoon-worthy, sweet second chance romance with Travis, a Marine, and Caroline, a Hollywood actress who had a whirlwind young adult romance and are both back home now.
I am so in love with these characters and my heart is so happy💙

This was my introduction into the world of Carly Greer and I’m a convert! I was hooked the minute I opened this book and thoroughly devoured it in a few hours. I was worried I may not follow as it’s the 2nd book in a series but that wasn’t the case. I will be going back to read the 1st one and now can’t wait for Mr Right Before My Eyes to come out next month so I can read Lucy and Liam’s story.
Overall this was a really sweet small town second chance romance that hit all of the feels. The characters and world building were really nicely done and I was vouching for them to get their HEA from start to finish.
This is a sweet small town romance that had me asking a few questions from the start. Caroline and Travis are both back home and they run in to each other. They both have pent up issues from their past that they need to talk about and figure about but of course they don't and just keep skirting the issue. While Caroline is cleaning out her parents house and deciding if she wants to renovate she finally has to go through their belongings.... It all answered the questions I had at the beginning and they got their HEA!!!
*ARC REVIEW* - this book was given to me by the author in return for an honest review, which was done voluntarily.
And yet another cute romance book by Carly Greer ! I loved this book so much. These small town romances are really starting to warm up on me. The constant back and forth between the characters kept me going.
It didn’t surprise me that her parents were the reason she never got her letters and vice versa. I figured it was them from the get go after finding out they didn’t like him.
I just love that after the 8 years they knew that they were the one for each other…

Mr. Right Back Where We Started is a second chance romance in a small town. Caroline is a hollywood star who returns home to Plume Island after a messy and very public breakup. Travis is back in town after attending the funeral of his foster mom and deciding to stay in town. Travis and Caroline were high school sweethearts who have not talked since Travis left for boot camp. The two run into each other and they must decide if they can forgive each other and give love a second chance. This was a very entertaining book and I would recommend it to all romance lovers.
This second instalment was even better than the first! I love a good famous-person-moves-back-to-small-town story, and even though this one stemmed from miscommunication, it was resolved as quickly as they realised and I could really sense the feelings between these two, felt the history . I also love a whole house cleanse and refurb, it's so refreshing even to read about. I liked the nods to their history, and the mention of the couple from the first book
Okay so this book reminds me of the letters scene in The Notebook. Miscommunication trope is simply not for me. I nearly dnfed this ARC but there’s good enough moments between the MMC and the FMC that I didn’t. The conflict only been solved 90% of the book. The scene in the wedding when the topic was broached was handled waaaay bad IMO. They could’ve acted like adults and talked it through instead of acting like teenagers and brushed it off.

Loved that this was a misunderstanding/lost love connection type of storyline in the second Plume Island series book. The why was a little predictable for me but I love that once the misunderstanding was cleared up it was like it didnt even matter anymore.
It was entertaining reading Caroline and Travis trying to aviod each other do to the misunderstanding even when they both had the same feelings. It was like neither could stay away. ♥
-Second Chance -Dual POV -Small Town Reunion -Past Love Rekindled -Star Crossed Lovers -Returning Home
This is a cute small town romance story. Caroline and Travis are cute together. Caroline is definitely a sweet woman. The story is short, sweet and to the point. It’s a pretty quick read and good for anyone who loves a sweet love story.
Travis and Caroline💕 ARC Review ✨️ This small town, second chance romance is sure to steal your heart! I can't wait to read book three! I love the way Carly writes her stories! If you're a fan of slow burn clean romance, this is for you! This story was short and sweet! The perfect read to relax with for an afternoon 🤗🖤
I am loving Plume Island and its residents!! This is a charming second chance romance between Hollywood movie star Carolyn and Travis, her former boyfriend. Due to some misunderstandings, they parted ways eight years ago and hadn’t seen each other since. Now that they’re both back on the island, sparks reignite between them. Very sweet story!!
Such a cute, fast read! Travis and Caroline are basically mad at each other for no reason! While I guessed the twist in the book early on, I loved every second of it. Always happy to get a HEA 😍 And the little bit of fake dating was the cherry on the top.
The quick little small town second chance romance that kept me wanting more. Caroline and Travis kept me wondering what was keeping them apart and who was to blame for their disconnection all those years ago. Such a sweet read. I am excited to read the next one in the series.
A sweet, small-town second chance romance. She left and became famous. When she needs to decompress, she comes back to Plume Island. He returns and ends up staying, becoming a cop for the town. They both believe the other did them dirty way back when. The chemistry is still there. Can they find a way to come back together?
This is the second book I’ve read by Carly Greer and it was very cute! I fully admit to not being the biggest fan of the miscommunication trope, but Travis and Caroline’s love story was worth reading. The revelation we get at the end had my head spinning and my heart aching for these two! 🥹💕😮💨
Carly Greer writes tension and angst so well. By the end of this book I was so excited to see these two finally get their happy ending. 🤌🏻👏🏼
I thoroughly enjoyed the second book of the Plume Island series. I can definitely see myself reading Travis and Caroline’s story again!
