At the onset, I was ready for a fun and amusing set of tales from a teacher who had encountered a lot of eccentric young students (which probably describes all young students). But I was really disappointed. This seemed like someone's passion project turned into a novel (but not as a complement). Before I continue, this is not meant to be as an insult towards the author, Betty. I am simply stating my subjective opinion on this memoir. This was a poor concoction of a string of short stories pretending to be somewhat coherent enough to pose as a memoir. From what I can gather, Betty must be told all the time, "you're a great story teller, so why don't you make a book out of those stories".... and it seems like Betty took that a little too seriously.

Let me put it this way. As a blog, this will probably be top tier. As a book, this is one of the very few times in my long reading / audiobooking journey that I felt like I've straight up wasted my time. Not for me, but I'm sure there is an audience for this.

A great casual read to have on your coffee table. Every chapter is its own slice-of-life story seen through the author's unique humourous lens. Her inner monologue can turn every little life event, from using a public washroom, to getting pulled over for speeding, into a rib-tickling adventure.
