There are a lot of great, short, Christmas stories in this book. The stories are written by Jack Weyland, Jennie Hansen, N.C. Allen, Kerry Blair, Erin Klingler, and several other authors. One story is about someone driving a shipment of gold bars to Salt Lake City. Another story has to do with a Christmas tradition of telling how the bear lost his tail. There is also a story about a young girl who lost her father around Christmas time and how she and her father loved horses, and the things that she learned by him encouraging her love of horses. I really liked this book.

This book is authored by some great LDS authors and the stories in it range from funny to heart-warming. Needless to say you'll feel the Christmas spirit after reading it! I'm reviewing this in October and I now feel like pulling out some Christmas lights and my nativity! And the bonus about this book...it's actually decently priced which is nice if you want to buy them in bulk for the holidays! :D

What a wonderful collection of Christmas stories! And best of all, they are all true. Each one was special and touched on various aspects of Christmas: facing the death of a loved one at Christmas, finding out you have cancer just before Christmas, finding the true meaning of Christmas amidst the bustle of shopping, etc.; a trucker trying to get home for Christmas and having obstacles in his way, and a little girl getting help from her busy bishop on Christmas day, and others. My favorite would have to be the very first one in the book "A Holy Night in a Holy City." The authors, Brent and Wendy Top, are some of our dearest friends. Brent is an exceptional teacher, and Wendy is a unique woman with many talents. They are both spiritual giants in my book. I have learned much from them in the classes they taught, the books they have written, and in personal time spent with them. The story in this book recounts a special Christmas Eve when they were in Israel. Besides bringing tears to my eyes with the tender, simple experience they shared in Bethlehem's shepherd fields, the message was strong that sometimes we think the bright lights and party atmosphere make Christmas merrier, when really, the quiet reflection and appreciation of the babe born in Bethlehem brings the greatest joy. I have felt humbled and more ready for this Christmas season by reading this book.

Books like this are what make Christmas special for me!

I get so busy with my own Christmas preparations that I tend to lose sight of 'the reason for the season.'

So I am GRATEFUL for these stories that bring perspective back to me and help me realize what it truly is all about!

In this book you will read TRUE HOLIDAY MEMORIES of "tidings of comfort and joy."

Some will be 'miraculous', some will be 'dramatic', some will be tender, all will be WONDERFUL!

You will read:
A Holy Night in a Holy City from Brent L. and Wendy C. Top

My Best Christmas Ever by Jack Weyland

Gold for Christmas by Earl Rich, as told to Jennie Hansen

How the Bear Lost His Tail by N.C. Allen

Remembering the Christmas Spirit by Kerry Blair

The Christmas I Learned Courage by Margot Hovley

The Gift of the Stables by Erin Klingler

The Gift by Jodi Marie Robinson

The Nightmare before Christmas by Julie Daines

The Christmas Coat by Ronda Gibb Hinrichsen

I felt the need to read yet another Yuletide collection of stories to finish out my Christmas weekend. The stories were cute and had some good spirit and vim to them. But they were also a little laden with cheesiness and a real overuse of exclamation points, a hallmark of kitsch writing. But a couple of the stories were great and worth reading. A quick read, if you want Mormon examples of the Xmas spirit and joy.

This little book just didn't really impress me. It is 10 "inspiring true Christmas stories". However, I thought out of 10..I like 2 which I considered inspirational. A story about throwing up on Christmas Eve just didn't feel "inspiring" to me at all. But the two stories "The Christmas Coat", and "The Gift" were worth reading the book for.

I loved this collection of short Christmas stories. They are all wonderful, but I especially liked "The Christmas Coat" by Ronda Gibb Hinrichsen and "The Gift of the Stables" by Erin Klingler. These stories are truly inspiring and perfect to read at Christmas time or anytime you need a lift.
