The Cowboy Charm

Rate this book
All work and no play is not how this cowboy intends to spend his day…

Former special forces soldier Ryder Lea has dedicated his life to serving others. Now honorably discharged, he’s looking to return to his cowboy roots to work as a rodeo stock contractor and travel the country he’s spent years protecting. But first, he has an obligation in Marietta, Montana to his fallen commanding officer. Surely completing a few hours of community service won’t be that challenging?

Physical therapist Edison Martin is short-staffed and underwhelmed when the tall, broad-shouldered cowboy with the ‘awe shucks’ smile swaggers into her clinic as her latest community-service volunteer. She needs trained help, not eye-candy. And Ryder reminds Edi of everything she’s lost and every man who’s done her wrong.

Bound by duty and compassionate by nature, Ryder dives into his temporary role with humor and enthusiasm. His make a difference. But what will it take to get statuesque, super serious Edi to smile and remember that each day is a gift?

Sinclair has loved reading romance novels since she discovered Barbara Cartland historical romances when she was in sixth grade. By seventh grade, she was haunting the library shelves looking to fall in love over and over again with the heroes born from the imaginations of her favorite authors. After teaching writing classes and workshops to adults and teens for many years in Seattle and Portland, she returned to her first love of reading romances and became an editor for Tule Publishing last year. Sinclair lives in Oregon’s wine country where she and her family own a small vineyard of Pinot Noir and where she dreams of being able to write at a desk like Jane Austen instead of in parking lots waiting for her kids to finish one of their 12,000 extracurricular activities.

Another beautiful story in this fabulous series it is time for Special Forces soldier, Ryder Lea to return to the States and keep his promise to his former leader, he is Marietta bound to complete some community service and then he can take on work as a rodeo stock contractor and travel.

Edison Martin is a physical therapist and works at The May Bell centre for aged care, Edi had been working with children not long ago but life changed for her and her Gran needed her so Marietta is now her home, they are very short staffed at the centre and Edi is stunned when handsome Ryland arrives to help her with her clients, her heart jumps but her mind says so much more, two hundred and fifty hours of community service seems like such a long time, how will it work out?.

Ryder arrives filled with laughter and compassion for the clients and Edi is struggling with what has happened and what is happening in her life can they work together? With a little push from Edi’s Gran, Lydia Ryder and Edi are soon working out that there can be a life together, if they can open up about their pasts and put it behind them and look to the future.

This really is a moving and emotional story with such awesome characters who are very easy to love and make friends with, I felt their pain and their happiness, there are some very witty moments in this one with Lydia and of course there are sensual moments as well.

This is one that I do highly recommend to any romance reader, it is sure to leave you smiling.

My thanks to the publisher Tule for my digital copy to read and review.

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying Sinclair Jayne’s Coyote Cowboys series and was really looking forward to reading this book. It’s an excellent addition to the series but can be read just as well as a stand-alone. Set in gorgeous Marietta, Montana in the depths of winter, The Cowboy Charm is an effortless combination of cowboy swagger and the honour and service of the US Army Special Forces. What’s not to love? Ryder Lea has always been the jokester among his soldier brothers and he carries the ability to always crack a joke or bring a smile into his civilian life. Behind this mask, however, is a man who’s low on self-worth and struggling to find a place in the world after leaving the military. Edison Martin is a physical therapist and has just moved to Marietta to care for her ageing grandmother, who raised her from a child. Edi has suffered the devastating loss of a baby and a subsequent divorce, so her move to Marietta is a fresh start in every sense of the word. She’s only three days into her new job at the May Bell Care Centre when Ryder appears on the scene and naturally his ability to hijack the room with his easy charm and his jokes is just whad Edi doesn’t need whule she’s trying to find her feet. It turns out both she and Ryder were raised by loving grandmothers and both had otherwise awful childhoods. With that in common, they are slow to trust enough to act on the instant physical draw that tey each feel and even slower to allow love into their hearts. This is a truly charming love story with loads of wonderful secondary characters adding depth and interest. I loved watching Edi and Ryder finding their feet and each other and I’m now eagerly awaiting the next book in the series. This one has been a joy to read.

We are back in Marietta, Montana , and this time it’s former Special Forces Ryder Lea’s turn to fulfill one of the items in his fallen commander’s list.
Jace McBride, was the leader of an elite Special Forces team and one of the Coyote Cowboys. When he is killed in action, he leaves behind a list of things he was going to do once he left the military. Feeling a need to fulfill the wishes of their friend and leader , as they separate from the military , each teammate has undertaken one of the deeds.
Ryder’s assignment is to complete Jace’s community service hours . It seemed simple enough. Once that’s done, he hopes to travel the country as a rodeo stock contractor.
Whom he never expected to turn his life upside down was Edi/Edison Martin. Edi is a physical therapist in a senior center. She has moved to Marietta to be close to her grandmother who has the beginning of dementia, and to start a new life after a divorce.
Ryder challenges her, and even though he seems a “go with the flow” kind of guy, he is more than that. As feelings develop both find themselves at a crossroad in life.
This is a story about loyalties, and second chances in life and love. It’s also a story that reminds us that our childhoods do in fact affect the adult we become. But it’s also a reminder that we have a choice . The past should remain in the past and it’s what we do with those experiences that matter.
This was a touching addition to the series.
I was entrusted a copy of this by Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are soley my own.

Edison Martin is a highly trained physical therapist. She’s just started a new job at the May
Bell Center in Marietta, Montana, so she can be close to her grandmother who is showing signs of dementia. Ryder Lea is a soldier turned cowboy, or at least that’s what he wants to be. He has a gift for dealing with animals. He’s come to Marietta to fulfill his late team leader’s last wishes. He’s filled with charm, and when a judge assigns him to work at the May Bell Center, he begins to put that charm to good use. Both Edison, Edi, and Ryder had tough childhoods and faced other situations that left them both wary of relationships. Can they get over all the hurt and difficulties to work something out between them?

This was a sweet story. I loved how well Ryder dealt with the seniors living at the assisted living facility. He had a knack for understanding them and for knowing what would keep them engaged. Edi, having previously worked with children, struggled to accept her changed situation.

This was a sweet yet steamy story for mature, adult readers. Mix Ryder and Edi together for several weeks, and the result will having you wishing for more. If you love cowboy romance, you’ll likely enjoy this book.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher. I thank all involved for their generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.

This is book four in The Coyote Cowboys of Montana and it is Ryder and Edison’s story. Ryder is former special forces and had dedicated his life to serving others but now he had been honorary discharged and he knows what he wants to do next and that is go back to his cowboy roots but first he had a assignment to complete for his commanding officer who died while in active service so now Ryder is off to Marietta Montana to do a few hours of community service before moving on with his life but what he didn’t expect was to meet Edison and his life take on a completely different path. Edison is a physical therapist and is so short staffed that she needs volunteers but what she wasn’t expecting is for Ryder to walk through her door and volunteering to help her but after a divorce men were not on her list of priorities even thou he is a hunk of humour and kindness. Edison and Ryder both have baggage, insecurities and trust issues due to their pasts but with the strong attraction, chemistry and connection between them will they be able to communicate and make themselves vulnerable so that they can eventually get the happiness that they both deserve after everything that they have been through. This book takes you on a rollercoaster journey of emotions and I loved how the characters interacted and adjusted to their lives and changes and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see what the outcome would be for them in the end and I look forward to reading more books in this series.

This was a charming and emotional story with likable, intriguing characters. Ryder Lea has just been honorably discharged from the military after serving his country. He wants to return to his cowboy roots. However, he must first complete community service hours in honor and by request of his commanding officer, which is how he arrives in Marietta, Montana.

Edison Martin is a physical therapy who has uprooted her life to come and care for her aging grandmother. Edison wants a clean slate and wants to leave the past behind her.

Both characters' lives are about to upended in ways they never imagined. Ryder has always used jokes and pranks as a shield to cover up insecurities and low self-esteem. He is a hero in his own right. He served his country well, but he feels like he doesn't really belong anywhere. He has that cowboy saunter, as well as the heroic persona of a military man. She is not initially impressed as she is super serious. However, they find they have more in common than they first realized as they were both raised by grandmothers and have a past they would rather remain in the past. They will have to learn that the hurdles of the past are not insurmountable, especially if you have someone you love by your side to overcome the odds.

If you enjoy a good cowboy romance with some emotional depth, you will enjoy this book.

Thank you to Tule Publishing for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Cowboy Charm by Sinclair Jayne is the fourth in this excellent series titled The Coyote Cowboys of Montana. I love how each of the former elite Special Forces team member find just what they need as they fulfill a fallen leader’s to-do list. Ryder Lea’s assignment is to complete community service hours for Jace McBride. Then he hopes to stay in Marietta working on a ranch becoming a rodeo stock contractor. I did not know how this story was going to work with him being assigned a nursing home for the community service. It works perfectly for this former latch-key kid whose late grandmother had taken him in when on one else was interested in him.

Physical therapist Edison Martin is a bit of a harder sell but the author does so brilliantly. Her grandmother was also a primary caregiver and more importantly a supporter and encourager of Edison. Now needing care Edison moves to Marietta to provide that for her grandmother. She and Ryder butt heads a time or two but honestly it is all on her side. A more pleasant personality, hard working and one who understands and accepts older individuals could not be found in all of Marietta then in Ryder Lea.

By the conclusion, Ryder finds a place to belong, purpose and love but it is Edison who shows the most growth after being weighed down with sorrows and grief. The Cowboy Charm is a personal favorite of mine from the series. Highly recommend.

THE COWBOY’S CHARM
by Sinclair Jayne

Cowboys of Montana book 4

WOW! The series is based on a fallen special forces soldier. And his brothers and arms have each taken on the duty of finishing something that the soldier could not.

Ryder Lea Is one of the special four soldiers. He is heading home to fulfill the commitment to do 250 hours of Community service. And when this commitment is over, he wants to be a rancher.

Edison Martin is the Physical therapist at the May Bell center. She had to come home to Marietta to take care of her Gran. By taking on this job and moving her Gran to the center. She can now afford to keep her Gran there and be able to be with her and share meals with her daily.

When Ryder shows up to start his community service at the center Edison is just overwhelmed. How is she ever going to stay on track with this extremely attractive soldier that she has an instant attraction to. he is witty and charming and just fun all around. He has all the clients wrapped around his little finger. He is getting them to do things that Edison just has not been able to get them to do.

I cannot express how much I absolutely loved this book. I cannot wait to finish the series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, given to me by Tule Publishing via BookFunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Two wounded souls, both troubled in their own ways, meet in “The Cowboy Charm”, by Sinclair Jayne, a story about love, healing and redemption.
I really enjoyed this story with characters marked by emotional scars, doubts and insecurities that show their full humanity. They both feel broken, had difficult childhoods, but deal with these feelings differently and aren’t overwhelmed by them.
Ryder and Edi feel imperfect and flawed, but they’re competent, selfless and giving individuals, a blend of vulnerability and strength that makes them great characters.
Ryder, the badass former soldier, has a need for belonging and a sense of inferiority hiding behind the charm and confidence; he’s so generous with his time, skills, ideas and enthusiasm with the seniors.
I liked how he managed the lack of self-worth and the feelings of inadequacy that still erupt as an adult. His interaction with the seniors is heartwarming and amusing.
I enjoyed watching “serious, sweet, more than a little sad” Edi overcome insecurities, anxiety, fears and honestly acknowledge them and open up to Ryder’s smart and sensible suggestions.
Watching the leads reveal their raw emotions and fears created some dramatic scenes and moments.

I have really enjoyed this series so far and this book did not disappoint either. I love how the author takes two broken people very different walks of Life but the heartbreak is still so similar and then turns and make them a hero in the story. It goes to show we call all be the hero's in our own story. Ryder comes back from his time in the military and while he stilling he structure mindset he's also in a playful one ready to help anyway he can. I enjoyed reading his and Lydia's antics it was like those two were peas in a pod. I feel like the author did an amazing job not sugar coating the struggles of a love one with dementia, its a hard disease, for the family as well. Edison (cool name) was what some may say a stick in the mud at first but she was so use to everything having to be that way and having so much on her shoulders you could see as the story went how she started to relax and enjoy her life. Overall this was a fun read and I can't wait for more from these brothers. There is sexual content in the story so it may not be suitable for all.

The Cowboy Charm ~The Coyote Cowboys of Montana # 4 by Sinclair Jayne.
Simply... Brilliant. Another great story to add to "The Coyote Cowboys of Montana".
Ryder is the next soldier to return stateside and follow Jace McBride's last wishes. Ryder carries out the community service of 250 hours that Jace was due to serve. Not looking for love he finds Edison Martin another lost sole.
This book has been written brilliantly with wonderful characters that feel like friends. The storyline is believable and when reading you feel like you too are there.
This is a fantastic series that I have thoroughly enjoyed reading. I highly recommend this to all. If I could give more than 5* then I would.
I look forward to reading the next in the series.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Easy-to-read, Entertaining, Great world building, Happily Ever After, Inspirational, Page-turner, Romantic, Realistic, Wonderful characters, and Marietta Montana:)

Ryder is in town to fulfil a task for his fallen team mate. All his coyote brothers are in town and making a life for themselves. Whilst he desperately wants to fit in he feels inadequate and less. But on meeting Edi he most definitely wants to be more.

Edi is and has been struggling since the death of her daughter and her divorce. Even more so with her Grandmother's failing memory. To top it all she is given a larger than life cowboy volunteer to help with her senior fitness classes. He is tall, built, handsome and charming. How on earth is she going to keep her hands off of him?

This is a truly wonderful series about a group of retired special forces men who are looking to build lives for themselves. Each story is a standalone but why read just one when they are all fantastic?!.

Ryder needs to fulfill the vow to his deceased team leader before getting on with his life. He has to do some hours of community service in Marietta’s May Bell Center
Edi works at Marietta’s May Bell Center where her grandma is a resident who is in the first stages of dementia.
Both, Ryder and Edi, have problems that came from their youth and both of them have been raised by their grandmothers.
At the beginning, Edi feels jealous of Ryder, but after a while, she realizes that he is just trying to help, not only the clients but also her.
The story was nice, although sometimes it was a bit dense mostly at the beginning.

Healing and redemption
A rollercoaster of emotions for the main characters of The Cowboy Charm. Both characters had difficult childhoods and bare emotional scars. They are adjusting to changes in their lives and finding their place. They are both selfless and giving though full of self-doubts. While I had a hard time with Edi’s character, the book title is perfect for Ryder. He is charming! His interaction with Edi and the elderly is touching and fun. I did not get into the book until about the halfway point when I felt the storyline flowed smoother and I was more into the characters. Still a good read and I’ll go back and read the prior books in the series.

Edi was so grumpy when she first met Ryder, pushing him away when he was trying to help with her physical therapy program. She fights her attraction after being told for years she wasn’t good enough especially by her ex who abandoned her and their unviable child. Former military Ryder only knows one night stands and feels inadequate with barely getting through high school to Edi’s doctorate. I love the ideas Ryder came up with to get the residents more involved and the former service dog program. If only Edi will let him in and accept temporary distance doesn’t mean he won’t be there to share a life with her. Edi’s grandmother and the other nursing home residents were fire crackers.

Edi has returned to Marietta to be near her grandmother. She works as a PT at May Bell assisted living where her grandmother is staying. She has not had good luck with men and is happy on her own. Ryder showed up in Marietta to complete community service hours for his fallen commanding officer. He is assigned 250 hours volunteering at May Bell. When he walks in all confident and takes over her class Edi wants him gone. How can his carefree nature be good for the residents? The more time they spend together the more she sees past the front he uses. He is the opposite of Edi. He is easy going and enjoys each day. Can he help Edi see the good in each day and maybe the good in him? Good read.

An emotional and heartfelt romance.

This is an emotional workplace romance between a Former Special Forces soldier, Ryder, who has come to Marietta to fulfill his fallen leader’s wishes and a physical therapist, Edi, who is new at her new job where her aging grandmother lives at May Bell Center.

I enjoyed seeing Ryder and Edi evolve from their prickly first encounter to discovering friendship and then love. Being complete opposites made the story fun to read. This is a great addition to the Coyote Cowboys of Montana series.

Edison is trying to make ends meet, keep her grandma with onset dementia safe, so she has no time for romance - Ryder is freshly discharged and doing some community service for a fallen comrade - they meet at the nursing home where she is leading the PT team! Ryder is trying to help her and she is having problems with his very upbeat personality taking over - they learn a thing or 2 from each other on their road to an HEA!.

I love Ms. Jayne’s stories involving military cowboys. This story is poignant and uplifting and includes the love and care of family. This story clearly shows how people try to hide so much of themselves and when erecting walls to protect themselves, they almost miss the opportunities of a lifetime. I always enjoy returning to Marietta and seeing what is happening with the Coyote Cowboys, their families by blood and their families by choice. I voluntarily read an advance copy of the book. The Cowboy Charm is one of the most relatable books I’ve read in a long time. The characters all come to life as you read more and more. The story flows naturally and makes you feel for Ryder and Edi. Between honor promises and self blaming for horrible outcomes to making lasting friendships and finding real live, this book has it all.
