Her life is a quiet war against herself, all disgust and hollow days. His is an endless spiral of disappointment, a life lived in shadows he can’t escape. Both are trapped in the same suffocating loop, terrified of the truths they refuse to confront.
Until they cross paths. And suddenly, neither of them feels quite so alone.
A dark, dangerous desire ignites in him, pulling him closer until watching her becomes a hunger he can’t deny. She has no idea she’s falling for a killer—the same man who lingers in the dark corners of her nights, tracking her every move.
Somewhere in the wreckage of everything they spark in each other, they uncover something impossible: comfort, shelter, a space where their lungs can finally fill.
But the truth beneath it all is terrifying.
Will they choose to stay together, embracing the monsters they’ve always been? Or will the truth destroy everything, forcing them to rise from the ashes either bound forever… or as enemies?
WARNING: This is an updated version (a standalone) of Shattered Hearts, featuring a new plot. This book is a dark romance that tackles some heavy subjects. It is highly recommended to check the 'Important Note' page before diving in.
i wanted to do a quick reread before starting the arc read for silent echoes. i missed caleb and lilith SO MUCH !! it was so beautiful to jump back into their story and see how it all unfolds all over again.
this is a dark, stalker romance with a possessive and obsessive mmc, caleb. this man has such a dirty mouth and is so unhinged. ugh !! i love him 🖤 from the moment he met the fmc, lilith, he was just obsessed. did he want to unalive her ? oh yeah … sure.
i can totally relate to lilith in wanting to be invisible and just go about her day. the way she used to write articles here and there to committing writing novels is something i am currently going through right now. she is just so cute and caleb brought out the black cat energy in her.
I picked this book up because I came across the author on TikTok expressing how she was getting bad reviews from her arcs about this book being dark even tonight she warned them it was dark. So naturally being a dark romance, no trigger list, anything goes, the darker the better kind of reader. I was curious. & Curiosity killed the cat and satisfaction did NOT bring it back, or whatever they say.
I have read 250 pages out of 420 on my kindle. & In all honesty I wanted to dnf immediately. Not because it was dark, no. Because girl, you need a new editor, beta team, whatever the hell it's called. The grammar was downright awful, like it should be a crime for how bad the grammar is. Just a little sample of what I mean, "Is there any particular reason why are you bothering us at nine in the morning?” HUH!? I beg your pardon? Throughout the entire book it's like this. I can justify like a couple of times but this is consistent. & The formatting? Someone needs to do better.
I feel like 250 pages is far enough to say this. Someone's lying, either your arc readers or you. Maybe it's possible I don't know what dark is? So just because of his extracurricular actives in the beginning with the women? That we don't even get to fully see/hear about. Perhaps him stalking her and enacting vengeance on her behalf? Either I have some screws in my head missing or this was barely even dark. I was expecting a lot more. Maybe the true dark stuff doesn't come out until after? I'll never know, and I don't care to know.
The pacing was going good and all of a sudden it was rushed. One minute she has a stalker, one day she meets Caleb, then she's on a business trip with him, two days later it's revealed he's the stalker. No questions, no if ands or butts and she's like okay hahah hehe, I'll keep you. Like out of nowhere. This book had a lot of potential and it was just poorly executed. I'm disappointed.
Ok, Let's talk about this. From about the 12% mark, I was wondering what I would say about this book. I received it and the arc of the sequel to read and review and I wanted to give an honest and full review in exchange. I see a lot of potential in the story and I feel like it would have benefited from a few more passes in the editing room.
There are quite a few grammatical /spelling errors in this. At first, I thought maybe it was my copy or a story device-for example the multiple misspellings in the Ava letter- but looking at other reviews I see that is not the case. Normally this is something I can look past, Jennifer L. Armentrout is a Goodreads Choice winner and her books always have typos. It's just what happens when you are self-published. However, the repetitively odd sentence structures make some pages almost impossible to read and gauge the author's intent. I highlighted a page where the words 'correct grammar' were in parathesis after a confusing sentence. I'm not sure if that was left in by accident or was meant to be the character making a joke to the audience. That's another thing that stuck out, the POVs would go back and forth from directly addressing the audience in an 'I bet you're wondering how I got here' type fashion to just being the characters in their world with no rhyme or reason. It seemed as if the book had been translated from a different language. If that is the case, again I feel like this story would have benefited from tighter editing from an outside source.
To that point, there were several points of continuous phrases like mentioning 'serial killer', ' he had everyone down on his knees, and how 'shy' the main character is. The first time these phrases are used, they are all justified but repeating the same lines again and again watered them down. When you continue to tell us that Lily/Lilith is shy, it makes the times you show it redundant. We do not need to be constantly reminded when it is expressed with her actions. For 'He had everyone down on his knees', this is said about Caleb as well as Evan. If the purpose was to create a parallel for the two, that would be one thing but I think if you use the phrase for Evan, you should use an elevated phrase for Caleb, something to show that while Evan is powerful in the school, Caleb's magnetism has a much wider scope. It's such a specific phrase that when used three times so closely together it sticks out. I also understand why the author would utilize 'serial killer' so often since that's literally what Caleb is but it can take away the punch of the words after so long.
Let's take, for example, Caleb's introductory chapter. He is watching the news and they are talking about a serial killer which he immediately admits is him. We have no concept yet at this time in the story that a serial killer is on the loose so we immediately lose any suspense we might have felt about learning that fact. So the first thing we learn about our MMC is that he is a killer, who specifically gets off on killing women, and then that he is a CEO and super-rich. Then a little backstory and he ends the chapter by again stating that he is a serial killer, albeit in a more jokey way. Then, almost immediately in the next chapter, Lilith makes a joke about serial killers. Now, if we had restructured that chapter so that we are introduced to Caleb as he is watching the news, then he is CEO, and then after Grayson annoys him we keep the serial killer joke and it has more of a reveal. It also would complement the joke that Lilith makes on the next page instead of making us already tired of hearing about a serial killer four chapters in.
Chapter structure and character depictions are another thing that could have taken more time to flesh out. Often we are told that someone has been acting cruelly or mean in the past but we do not see much of that on the page, except for Clare, Evan at the party, and Grayson. Kevin does not slowly progress into someone horrible, he is our FMC's only friend, then he annoys her, then he points out some JUSTIFIABLE issues with her relationship with Caleb, and then suddenly he needs his hands broken. We don't even have confirmation that Diana was pulling a prank by standing up Lilith, we just know that is what Caleb and Lilith assume. Then Caleb sends out videos/images that are "embarrassing in all ways" of her and she's gone. And what does that mean exactly? It's so nondescript, I assume it is revenge porn but for all we know she could have just been tripping downstairs. The landlord was possibly the best depiction of a growing creep but even he escalates at a rapid pace. Several times the characters go to a new location to be there for a while- The party, the trip, the park, Canada- then they do one thing and leave. It has the same feeling as watching a movie character make a whole breakfast spread and then only take one gulp of orange juice and leave.
I know I have had a lot to say about what could have been improved on this novel. That is because the story is there. I see the vision and I want what's best for the author. So it's only fair I describe some things that I like. While this is a 'dark' romance, it is relatively tame and does not fall into the normal trap of erasing how cruel the MMC is/can be to others. I liked that our FMC had multiple phobias and how they were related to her trauma in a plausible way. I enjoyed that after Caleb tried to calm her fear of elevators by holding her and telling her to close her eyes, she did the same for him by having his face touched. I enjoyed the rollercoaster scene, I have never read that in a book before and it is probably my favorite sex scene in the whole book. I enjoyed the tattooing scene as well. Including the victim's letters leading up to Lilith finding them was a brilliant decision and I enjoyed seeing how each one was different. You can tell a lot of work went into the little details. I wish we got to sit with that a little bit longer. Also, I am a sucker for any book that has it's playlist on Spotify.
I do intend to finish this story and I wish nothing but the best for the author. It is clear that they have a passion for writing, much like Lilith does and I hope that with a new editor, they can succeed with their passion.

Honestly I know this was a re release but I still think there’s a lot more that could’ve been edited. It has the bones to be a good dark romance but the repetitive use of the same words over and over again took me out of the story as well as the slow pace.
I want to start off by saying this story has been through a LOT. Only a few of y’all know how many versions of it I wrote, then rewrote, and wrote again… Anyway, after years of fantasizing about it, I finally seem to have gotten it into place.
It all started when I watched the first season of You back in 2019—back when I was only building stories in my mind and, at most, jotting down small notes about them.
Excuse me for thinking, what IF a broken man met a woman who matched his freak and didn’t shy away from it? Pair that with Silent Hill-ish dreamy vibes (or even a bit gothic, if I can say that), a sprinkle of spice, and voilà…
After seven goddamn years, I finally got this story right. These two characters are some of the first I ever wrote, and they hold a special place in my heart.
P.S. Silent Echoes (previously the second installment in what is now a non-existent duet) will become Adam and Eliana’s story. The re-release is planned for 2026. Follow my socials to keep an eye on updates.
*Thank you SO SO MUCH Valeriia Miller for the opportunity to read the ARC of the re-release of Shattered Hearts*
🔥“How can something be so utterly delicious and terrifying at the same time?”🔥
I am utterly obsessed… this book has ruined. me. I don’t even know what to say? I’ve been staring at my kindle screen just thinking about what I can even begin to say. First, IM OBSESSED (I know I said that already😭) with Caleb and Lilith, with Valeriia’s incredible writing and the dark tale she’s woven. I can’t believe how devastatingly beautiful this story was. Dark and intoxicating and full of delicious depravity.
Two tortured souls, both morally grey, who find each other in the darkness and revel in it. An unhealthy obsession that turns into a deep all-consuming love, souls entangling and healing each other in the messed up shit they do and crave together. This is a DARK stalker romance that doesn’t shy away from the dirty bits and sinks deeper and deeper into your skin the further you get into the story. An intoxicating romance, not for the faint of heart, that will tear your soul APART! MY SOUL IS TORN APART!
I tend to be picky with my dark romance choices as they can sometimes be mostly smut with very little substance but this book is SO the opposite of that. I could NOT get enough. I am still craving more now that I’ve finished!😭 The slowest burn with the most perfect amount of tension. The spice, oh my god yall, is perfect, small amounts build up until they finally break apart together. I thoroughly enjoyed the pacing, I ate up every single twist and turn, EVERY SINGLE ONE! No matter how dark and disturbing! The things Caleb does?? I was blushing, screaming and kicking my feet the whole fucking time😭 what does that say about me???
I also have to say that as someone who has dealt with a lot of the mental illnesses mentioned in this book, I feel almost… seen and understood and even though this book is very dark and rides a line most people balk at, Valeriia does an amazing job at taking every single topic seriously. It’s very important even in works of fiction to bring awareness to these types of things respectfully and yet she still manages to tell the most wicked story without making it feel negative. When Caleb eats with her, only taking bites when she does? I melted, I’m still melting. I won’t get over that anytime soon and I think I’ve found a new favorite micro trope, so thank you Valeriia!😩
I will be thinking about this depraved book for a long, long time.
Please read the trigger warnings before you read this book, there are a lot of very uncomfortable and disturbing topics that some may not be comfortable with but if you’re like me and you crave the darkness and debauchery then dive right in, head first!
Shattered Hearts is a spicy, stalker, dark romance novel that is sure to have your heart racing 😉😮💨
Lilith keeps to herself at her university while writing a novel but little to her knowledge there is a stalker lurking beyond the shadows. He won’t stop until she falls for him. However, Lilith has similar, dark secrets from her past that mirrors her handsome captor.
This book draws you in from the first page and leaves us on a GIANT cliffhanger. Luckily, the second book will be in my hands soon 😈
Thank you, Valeriia for this digital copy of Shattered Hearts. Available on KU!! For those who have it 😏🏃♀️
A really good stalker romance book .I will definitely say I didn’t expect the ending of this book and I’m excited to start book 2 They both have some trauma form parts and I can see how they bond over that but I’m not going to spoil anything you just have to read for yourself 😁
This was kindly gifted to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. Wow this was so good, delving into the back stories of the main characters and learning their motivations was thoroughly gripping!
⭐️ ⭐️ I received this as an arc and i was excited about the premise of the story, but it just did not hit the spot for me ❤️🩹 not sure if it was the writing style or the plot but it just fell a little flat and didn’t captivate me
Shattered Hearts is a sizzling dark romance novel with a stalker who has although danger spell in his personality, will steal your heart in seconds. Hooked from the very first page, this book was startlingly surprising and sensual.
We follow our protagonist Lilith, who has been envoloped in nightmare blurs and haunts of living life that feels shackled and bound. Hoping for a way out of the hellish endurance she never anticipated the freedom to come in the form of a man who sets her soul on fire. Her passion and emotions are duely tested and the question is can she survive this?
Caleb, a devil who has committed kidnapping of nine women and earned the title of The Black widow was about to have a different turn of event. He is skilled and the efforts he puts are next to none as these women chose him to get close to. His ordinary endeavour was about to quickly escalate into a passionate, devilishly dark romance.
Will Lilith change him or is she about to become his tenth? Embrace the darkness and let loose your dormant self.
An extraordinary, engaging narration with fantastic twists and turns. I was immediately intrigued with the characters and their thoroughly drawn stories. The author's writing style is immensely captivating and she weaves the plot with such vivid and intense emotions that it's impossible to stop and put the book down. The storyline is of course a fast paced one with no dragged out moments. And that cliffhanger was..... epic! I cannot wait to read the next installment in the series. There are some pretty explicit graphic violence, dark moments, and disturbing situations which fleshed the story more.
If you are a reader who loves dark, twisted romance and doesn't shy away from heated and steamy scenes then this book is for you. It's dangerous and curious at the same time. I would definitely recommend this to the dark stalker trope enthusiasts.
I received this as an ARC, leading up to the ARC release of book 2. This is a dark stalker romance, book one of a duet.
So. We’ve got Lilith. This quirky, nerdy, loner who was mentally abused by her mom growing up, and honestly, still is. Her mom’s a weird ass narcissist. We’ve got Caleb, super tall, serial killer millionaire. He’s doing some visit to her school, and ends up seeing her and instantly becomes obsessed, choosing her has his next victim. He does everything he can to be close to her, including manipulating the school into letting him hire her as a journalist. It’s very fast paced, we don’t see a whole lot of them spending time together before she wants him in return. She figured out he’s stalking her, but for some reason that doesn’t bother her. She still falls for him. The end is kind of wild, and it leaves on a crazy cliffhanger.
I read this in one day because the storyline had me in a chokehold. I had to know what was going to happen. You get pulled in right away with Lilith’s trauma, the letters from Caleb’s victims keep you wanting more, and finding out more about Caleb himself was so intriguing. The imagery was fairly well done. Now. The reason this has 3 stars, is mostly because the grammar and spelling. You can tell the authors first language is not English. It definitely doesn’t make this book unreadable. But it did bother me a little. It also doesn’t push me from wanting to read the second asap and find out the cliffhangers ending. The way that Caleb loved Lilith was just 🥰🥰🥰 he wants to be good for HER. I love that for him.
Typically, I dive into dark romance blindly, and that's exactly what I did with this one. After I finished it, I became very thrilled about what happens next. I went to search for the book 2, and then got annoyed because I couldn’t find it. And then I realised it isn’t out yet. Which upset me🫡 This book awakened me from of my reading slumber👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Can we talk about the new comeback of Shattered hearts?! I absolutely loved it! Reading the OG version of Shattered Hearts was kind of chaotic, it was amazing but a lot of chaos. While the revamped version of Shattered Hearts is still chaotic, it’s even more amazing. The chapters are more detailed and it’s gives that eerie feeling in a good way. It showcases more of Lilith’s emotions and how she grounds herself.
Oh gosh, when she stood up to her mother I was applauding her because she deserved it. The amount of trauma and abuse my girly has been through was a lot. Not to mention, it started ever since Lilith came out the womb. Lilith is just struggling so much and my heart goes out to her so dearly.
Now with Caleb 😛🤏🏽 oh period I love that man and I’ll always love him. Very respectful. He is a literal genius. And I do love a hacker in books, it makes it fun. To me, he could lean to the morally gray-ish black side. He has ZEROOOO tolerance for evil motherfuckers and he handles it pretty well…I don’t want to say too much and spoil it 🙈 but everything is handled.
And the spicy chapters?! Oh hells yesss! Round of an applause 👏🏽👏🏽 Valeriia needs her flowers ASAP no rocky. She really outdid herself and I get more amazed.
Overall throughout this book, it’s very detailed and a very CAREFULLY detailed book that gives you those dark yet interesting vibes, it holds your attention and leaves you wanting to know more.
I give this book five stars for getting my attention and leaving me wanting more, I was heavily rooted to my kindle this whole weekend 😛🤏🏽

Good in theory, but good god...this was...something else.
We are reminded a million times that Lilith is so quirky and awkward and weird.
The characters have 0 chemistry and the pacing is so quick! Why did she fall in live with her STALKER after discovering who he is. That was so fast and for no reason ???
Lilith did not have a single normal reaction to the situations she was in.
Some scenes were cute, if they existed on their own. As in, I enjoyed them but in the chronology and universe of the novel, they did not belong.
Plus, so many spelling mistakes for some reason.
Not the best written or the most captivating. I was intrigued by the premise of the book but the execution is far from perfect.
This was a darker read than I'm used to, but I was dipping my toe into dark romance, and I have to say, I enjoyed it! I liked the dual POV, and while I was hesitant, seeing Caleb want to be good for Lilith!!! Just, ugh. Ready to dive into the second one. This was such a good read, and the cliffhanger...
If you're into dark romance, I highly recommend! Check the warnings to see if it's for you, but despite how I was a bit nervous, it was a really good read!

I was not expecting the plot twist the book had. I enjoyed this book and am excited to see where the second one goes and what happens in it. I think it left on a good cliffhanger. I loved the story line Shattered hearts has a lot of spice, in my opinion. Overall, it was a great read! Also, thank you so much, Valeriia, for sending me the digital copy to read!!
First off, I wanted to say I was given this book in addition to the second for an ARC review - this is my true honest review of this book!
Lilith, a shy outcast college writer. Lilith has always kept to herself, focused only on her writing.
Caleb, an extremely handsome, 6’8”, self made billionaire. Oh, and he’s also a serial killer…
Caleb finds his attention drawn to the quiet student that seems to pay him no mind. Caleb finds himself obsessed with the idea of Lilith becoming his tenth victim. So he begins to stalk her. Watching her every move, every interaction. Along the way he realizes that Lilith is becoming more to him than just another victim. She’s everything. His obsession becomes desire.
Throughout the book we see Lilith pulled more and more into Caleb’s darkness, some of which she has her own trauma she’s able to explore by Caleb’s side.
The author does a wonderful job pulling you into the story right away! I loved the use of letters from victims exploring Caleb’s two sides. Who he is with Lilith versus who he is when practicing his dark nature. Many dark romance books are very smutty the whole way through, but this book did a good job of incorporating a storyline with a real plot along side it! (Don’t get me wrong, the spice is still very dark and very present!)
One of my biggest critiques of this book would be the contact grammatical errors. There’s more than just a few present. I know English is not the author’s first language, but I think having someone review the books to edit some grammatical errors would help greatly. There were a few times I felt myself pulled out of the story because of a dramatic grammatical error.
This book ends on an incredible cliffhanger !! So I was SO thankful to have the second book in my hands and ready to read!
Overall, I am thankful for the opportunity to read and review this book!! Thank you so much!!
This is a dark stalker romance about Lilith, an outcast with a troubled childhood who is ruled by nightmares. When Caleb takes an interest in her, it looks like Lilith has an expiration date as the next victim of The Black Widow Killer. The book has some darker themes, but the plot is intriguing.
I enjoyed the first third of the book the best. I saw Lilith and her background while she figured out how to be confident in herself. Then there's Caleb, obsessed and utterly enraptured with the FMC. The letters of his victims were an excellent touch and gave insight into his past. I liked the cat-and-mouse aspect and how the relationship is built up.
However, the book had spelling mistakes and odd word choices at times. It was still easy to understand, but it was noticeable. The relationship moved quickly, considering the book's first third is buildup. Lilith is odd and thinks differently, which was fun. I liked her quirks, but her reactions were abnormal to what's typical for her situation. I understand where the author is trying to go with it, but it was sometimes jarring.
I do find the storyline intriguing, and I will read the second book. The characters by themselves were good. I'm excited to see if the chemistry between the two grows stronger and find out what happens after the cliffhanger of an ending. Make sure to check trigger warnings; your mental health matters.
✨ I received an advance reader copy from the author. All opinions are my own. ✨
If you're a fan of the mindfu** series by St. Abby & Haunting and Hunting Adeline by HD Carlton, this book is for you. An absolutely depraved, dark, spicy, and wicked story. Our MMC, Caleb, is a business man by day and a vigilante by night. Our FMC, Lilith, has always had morally gray ideations, coming from a morose childhood. Caleb runs into Lilith during a college presentation and it was instaobsession. If you love a good stalker romance, who leaves flowers & donuts then Caleb is your man. At first Lilith struggles with the situation she finds herself in, and then beautifully gives in to something she's wanted her whole life. Now listen, when I tell you this couple is toxic, I mean toxic, he will make some of your morally gray characters look like golden retrievers, but when I tell you I ate it up. No crumbs left. When I tell you this is a DARK romance, make sure to read your trigger warnings, book baddies. But if you love your men a little pitch black and your FMC's stabby, pick this book up today! Favorite Quote: "You chose the devil, and now you'll learn what loving him truly costs." "I carve your absence into my ribs and call it faith."
I genuinely think this book healed me in ways I didn't realise I needed to be healed. I could see parts of myself reflected in these characters so I connected with them instantly. At times Lilith doubted herself and other times she was literally THAT bitch. Her growth was inspiring. I also loved her defiant streak and sass so much. She wasn't just some weak beige FMC without a personality, she was smart, stubborn and headstrong. She didn't have the best start in life, but she was determined to make the rest of her life her own, even more so after she met her obsessed stalker. Caleb...I mean where do I start? He was written perfectly. Yes he was fucked up, but the best type of fucked up. His story was so sad, but it made him who he was. I'm so glad Lilith and Caleb found each other. I loved that they both had shadows to battle and neither tried to fix the other. They consumed each other's darkness and turned it into something beautiful instead. It was a love story for the ages truly. Valeriia also wrote some of the most unhinged smutty scenes I have ever read, that one towards the end...gurrrrllll YES! 🔪 I honestly have no notes. Shattered Hearts was spine-tingly spicy. It was completely depraved but didn't take away from the amazing story line at all and I loved it. I will 100% be adding the rest of Valeriia's work to my TBR.

✨Book Review✨ • Shattered Hearts By Valeriia Miller • 4/5🌟 3.5/5🌶️ • “Now I want nothing more than drop on my fucking knees in front of her, like a man praying in front of his goddess.” • First and foremost want to thank Valeriia for choosing me to do the ARC for her two books, with this being so grateful. I would also like to add that I will always be completely honest with my opinion on ARCs. So let’s dive into it! • Right off the bat the author does a really good job of pulling you into the story and their writing is easy and flows well. However my biggest issue is there are some grammar and typo issues throughout the book, which a few here and there is fine but there were more than that. • Moving onto the characters, immediately you get pulled into Lilith’s trauma which is actually heartwrenching as a mother. One thing I felt like the author talked about was how different/weird Lilith was, I understood she didn’t fit in but it was a lot of constant reminders. Now moving onto Caleb, I actually really enjoyed this man and his feelings towards Lilith. His background however was filled with trauma as well, however the man does have a very disturbed lifestyle which is why Lilith first grabbed his attention. • A huge kudos I give to the author is she had the character talk about their feelings, with dark romances sometimes I do feel like it’s just smut, smut, smut. Which is fine but however I do want a side of plot and preferably a plot that isn’t just thrown of there and ended abruptly. • This book does end on a solid cliff hanger, so just be ready cause book 2 shall be a wild ride! • Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it is a recommend I will give out. I also need to start the next one, because I NEED more.
I enjoyed this book and I am excited to dive into book 2 to find out more about this love story that has bloomed. I need to know what happens to them both. If you love dark romance with stalker MMC and he falls first then this is for you.
«We are two fallen angels, rejected by God and weak alone. But together, we are indestructible. We can either live in this world or burn it to the ground and create our own. The choice is yours.»
Lilith - She grew up rough and really is down on herself due to upbringing. Her mother is a real piece of work. She is in school to be a writer and trying to come into her own. She is shy, nerdy, and keeps to the shadows.
Caleb - He is rich and handsome as ever but has a very dark secret. No one knows who he truely is and they all think he is the best guy in the world with a growing company. Everything changes when he sees her.
— He becomes obsessed with her when he meets her. She is his “Little Devil” and nothing will stop him from claiming her. She knows someone is stalking her and the more he watches her the more she realizes she wants him. Will she stay when she finds out his darkest secret or will she run??? He wants the darkness in her to awaken.
This series was insane. I am so glad that I had access to books one and two at the same time, because I would not have been able to handle waiting after the cliffy from this book. This was a dark romance for sure, and I enjoyed every second of it. Our FMC has always felt like an outcast, unwanted and unloved. Until he sees her. She has no idea who he is at first. She knows he's watching. Sending her gifts, protecting her from afar. And then a golden opportunity falls into her lap. Is he responsible, is he the man of her dreams, chasing away the nightmares? But will he bring her into the light, or will he release the darkness inside her? This opportunity will change everything for her, and maybe not for the better. Nothing will prepare her for the revelations that she will learn about her secret admirer, or the nefarious entities lingering even further in the shadows. The banter, the heat, the everything. Chefs kiss.
But please note, there are some issues with grammar choices and extra words. The author speaks many languages, and this may not be her primary one. I did not care, it did not detract from my enjoyment of this book or change my rating in any sense.
I don’t know how I was able to gulp this 600-page book down in a day, but here we are. I’m on my second read, and it just keeps getting better.
The overall vibes, the depth of each character, the spice, the mystery… it’s nothing short of a perfect blend for a dark story. The cat-and-mouse game between them when first he was the one chasing her, and then the tables turned—that was the best twist for me. Reading their dynamic was everything. Caleb is such a perfect example of a humble, hot, possessive man with a cracked moral compass, while Lilith is fierce, haunted by her past, strong, and equally obsessive. The way she was dreaming about him and then he became real for her—that’s what makes the story so special to me. Nothing feels forced, nothing weird or insta-love/lust-like. Just fate. Twisted and sick, but so their style. I fear I’ll be forever chasing the high from this book. I’m getting a physical copy once it’s out, and I highly advise you to get one too. It’s perfect for those who love their dark romance with depth and an actual emotional connection.
*ARC Recipient Review* An enjoyable read for lovers of dark romance. A well set up backstory to start, creating the perfect dynamics for the FMC’s storyline throughout the book. I liked that while we had her perspective clearly, the MMC’s slowly developed ongoing to keep us wanting to know more about him and his journey to where he is today.
I love a text bubble convo, so anytime it gets included in a story, I am immediately obsessed. It feels so much deeper and gets me even more invested into what’s happening between them. With the dual POV, I appreciated that even seeing both sides, it leaned more into the FMC with bursts from the MMC to maximize the reader's perception of their developing relationship.
There were times where I felt disconnected and lost focus more than I would have liked, mostly between spicy scenes or relationship development. While I understand why those topics were included throughout, I do feel some could have been modified to be more concise. Definitely worth a read and glad I could be part of this journey.
⭐️⭐️ Lilith. Girl. Come on. Like WHY would you stay with a man that killed and tortured 9 other girls. He even said he was going to KILL YOU…but he magically..fell in loveee… pleaseeee. But Caleb wanting to be good now because of Lilith..🥹 Also side note.. fuck Claire. She sucks. Some scenes in the book reminded me too much of The Sinner and Haunting of Adeline. Also there were a lot of grammar errors. I feel like this book could be really great- there were parts that I loved. Like the ending. ..that cliffhanger is great. I almost DNF in the beginning.
Like this quote ..ATE ME UP
«I’m going to consume you,» he whispers, pressing a kiss to my forehead. Then, his lips journey downward. «Claim you.» He kisses my collar-bone, then the small area between my breasts. «Shatter you.» His lips trail lower. «Love you.»

There are no words for this book… literally what the hell did I just read because I’ need more, as soon as I started reading this book I thought of “Haunting Adeline” by H.d Carlton and “The sinner” by Shantel Tessier and the show “You” and I LOVEEEE both books and show so this book is definitely amazing to me. (I saw the comparison in another review so I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this) The pure OBSESSION that Caleb develops fuels something inside me that u definitely Need to talk to a professional about. The only problem I have is that there are some Grammar errors but it didn’t distract me too much while reading. I really connected to Lilith while reading because of how she views herself and the trauma she’s gone through, despite all her flaws Caleb sees nothing but perfection and that just melts my heart. I will definitely be recommending this book to other Dark romance readers <3 {ARC REVIEW}
“I don’t know how to exist without Caleb. Because I don’t want to exist without him.”
This is a Dark, stalker romance; it is part of a duet and ends on a cliffhanger. As always, please check trigger warnings before reading!
The only reason this book wasn’t 5 stars is because, at times, I felt a little uncomfortable reading about the previous women Caleb murdered. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book.
Shattered Hearts follows Lilith (Lily), a university student with an unloving mother, and Caleb, a serial killer with a dark past. After seeing Lilith, Caleb quickly develops an obsession and stalks her. Who was originally going to be another victim soon becomes someone he wants to protect and know more about. The ending/ cliffhanger was a plot twist I didn’t see coming. I am excited to read the next book to find out what happens, and to see Lilith and Caleb’s relationship grow and develop.
Thank you Valeriia Miller for a review copy of this book. I can’t wait to read Silent Echoes!
