A child of man, with hair like day meeting night, will guide the vampire back into the sunlight.
Lila Bran has been here before, she has been the mouse in the Vipers’ game. But this time, she’s stronger. This time, she has power, the safety of her brother, and—most importantly—she has Ambrose Draven.
As she aims to prove herself against her enemies in the Viper Morada, will Lila find the depth of her powers and prove she is more than a murine? Or will she discover the beginnings of another great war between the four remaining vampire manors?
As enemies threaten to overtake Malvania, Lila and Ambrose must choose their allies wisely. But what if they can’t even trust themselves?

If I could give no stars I would. This author mentions the MMC having dark brown skin and being “black”. She even mentions transatlantic enslavement in his history. However, every artwork she posts of him is as a white man. I messaged her respectfully explaining how careless this is and she blocked me with no response. As a black person I did not choose a fantasy book expecting the history of my ancestors to exploited like this. I am so disappointed that I wasted my time reading these two books. I hope this helps others look for a different author and book.
Trigger warning: This book contains unnecessary reference to transatlantic enslavement and trade of black people. The author is careless about how this may impact black readers, especially given that she keeps posting images of him as a white man but describes him with dark brown skin.

Review: What a fantastic sequel! I don’t know about anyone else but sometimes I get scared to pick up sequels especially if I loved the first book! But this book was not the case and it was even better than the first book! There is never a boring moment! I loved that this book has even more spice than the first book! I feel like when I picked up this book and suddenly it was already over! I did not want to say goodbye to Lila and Ambrose! The audio book narrator truly understands the emotions of the characters! Thank you so much to the author and Blue Nose audio for giving me the chance to listen to this audiobook!
First of all; thank you so much Julie for choosing me to be an ARC reader! I’m truly so thankful. 🫶🏼
I rate it: 4.5/5⭐️ LIKE 7/5🌶️🌶️🌶️ THE SPICE WAS SPICIN HOLY MOLY🔥🔥🔥🔥 • I LOVED this conclusion to Lila and Ambrose’s story. Everything played out better than I could’ve ever hoped for, truly!
At the beginning of the book I was horrified by what Lila was going through (please read through and take the trigger warnings seriously before reading this book🫶🏼), it was very dark and I was like “oh my goodness how are we ever going to recover from this??” I feel like most books choose either “the man saves the woman” or “the woman saves herself” but this book somehow married those two tropes together. It was SO👏🏻SATISFYING👏🏻 This book has: 🔥who did this to you 🔥touch her and you d!e 🔥touch HIM and you d!e 🔥insane smut 🥵 🔥REVENGE 🔥unexpected friendship And so so much more. If you haven’t read The Crow Lord (book 1) yet, you need to. And then you NEED to read this one! Well done JM Failde! Thank you for bestowing upon us the monsters of Malvania’s story!
When I tell you that I BINGED this book🔥 it’s waaaaay darker than book 1 😳 now our Little Mouse is back into the enemy’s hands in the Viper Morada, she’s determined to prove herself and destroy them from within.. but that is if they don’t ruin her first 😈 GAH I love this series.
What surprised me about this sequel was Rebekkah, I grew very found of her and her redemption arc. Hektor was a whole new level of evil I wanted him to BURN 😂
What you can expect: 🩸lots of Vampires, bites, & bloodlust 🩸forced proximity 🩸monster love 🩸spice spice spice! 🩸touch her and I’ll 💀 you 🩸controlling & possessive males 🩸found family
This book was both so fun and so daunting to write. I loved this continuation with Lila and Ambrose; seeing how they both grew over these two books was so thrilling to write. I hope you all enjoy reading their story as much as I enjoyed telling it <3
4.5 - only because I am loyal to The Crow Lord I've said this before and I'll say it again, the second book has a tough job. It needs to continue the suspens, while progressing a story we are already fully immersed in and it needs to shine in its own right. And The Sun Child did, it took us on a journey of two characters and their own development along with their relationship building into something past the initial frenzy. But just as second books have a job to do, so do first books, they need to be interesting enough for us to want to read the next one and build a story we are committed to, well The Crow Lord did that in spades, I think it was too big a job for The Sun Child to exceed our already outrageous expectations. This was a solidly fantastic read, everything is well rounded and brought to a beautiful conclusion, I loved it, I just can't let my first love go - my first love in the form of The Crow Lord.
I loved the Crow lord so much and the anticipation till this book came out was insane🔥 Lila and Ambrose story continues in The Sun Child. Lila by the end of book one was determined to get her revenge on the Viper Morada. Her pursuit to find out her power as the sun child unfolds in this book. There is a lot of world building and new characters that you will fall in love with. The book started a bit slow but the final chapters keep you at the edge of your seat. There is a lot of action and lots and lots of SPICE🔥 we didn’t see much action between Lila and Ambrose in book one but Julie makes up for it in this book. You will defiantly see lots of spice once Ambrose and Lila unite. The way these characters grow and become intertwined with each other, revealing the horror and trauma of their past to each other just makes them a stronger force. I will say this was the perfect ending I would look for in a book. I enjoyed seeing each character get what they deserved 🫠 Most of all I loved seeing more of Pollock and the rest of the crow force 😍
Some of my favorite quotes :
“My arms feel empty without you in them, my fingers feel tangled in the phantom strands of your hair. My soul has never felt colder.”
“I only want you, Ambrose. Monster and all. If you need to loose control, lose it on me. If you need to yell, yell for me. If you need to kill, kill for me. But know, even in death, all I will ever want is you.”
“If your heart mourns for something I’ve made, I will make it again and again and again, until my hands fail to make any more. If your heart mourns for something because it was mine, you already have all of me, body, heart, and soul.”
“The bargain… it’s between both of us. It fused the crow lord and the sun child.”
“You showed me the stars. Let me show you the sun.”
“She was the sun of his universe, and he would orbit around her for as long as she allowed, even if it meant he got so close, it burned him right up.”
“You have made me strong. You have made me resilient and you have given me the power to overcome the trauma of my past.”
to fully understand what’s going on you must read or listen to the first book in the series (The Crow Lord)
If you’re into adult fantasy/romance where the MMC is head over heels for the FMC and will do absolutely anything for her, this is it! This is the book you’ll want to read or listen to. Not only is it packed with events, but also with spice! I actually had to take a break at one point, I caught myself thinking, is she okay? Respectfully, I mean this in the most positive way lol.
I wasn’t expecting so many spicy chapters, but trust me they’re in there! If you loved the first book, you’ll love this one too. It picks up right afterwards, the whole time i listen to this I was on the edge of my seat Once you start, you won’t want to put it down.
Lila is a character who slowly but surely finds her strength and power, she’ll do anything for the people she loves. There’s so much character growth for her between book one and two. The vibes I got from her were pure embracing the moment, empowerment, confidence, leadership. The more you experience her, the more it feels like you’re growing with her.
Ambrose, on the other hand, gives off strong protective alpha energy the “don’t you dare touch her” type vibes along with so much more. Once you read or listen, you’ll see exactly what I mean
with Ambrose you get all the classic and unhinged MMC energy
“she’s mine,” “touch her and 💀” “who did this to you,” “how hurt do you want them?” and more. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, but wow, there’s a lot.
The narrators really captured the emotion and brought these characters to life. If they felt damaged, you heard it and felt it with them. If they were cheerful, you felt that joy right alongside them.
The performance is phenomenal. The story is great. The plot is definitely there. The author did an amazing job of explaining everything within the world she built, she takes you on a journey and gives you the answers you need and more!
This gives you vibes of war where choices must be made, it’s safe to say you’ll have plenty to keep you hooked with this one.
So my only big pet peeve about the Sun Child is again this book being told through third person being told basically as a story. I thought this was an amazing audio. Raven and Ryan did such a phenomenal job with their narration of this story again with Ryan’s voice in this book all I can think of was the villain Michael Morbius from the animated Spider-Man show back in the 90s that’s just who reminded me of and it’s funny because Michael Morbius was also a vampire. Raven throughout this just goes through like a range of everything and she portrays the character through all that range. Our FMC has her downs and ups, she goes through a lot and I don’t think anyone else but Raven could’ve done this. If you’ve read the crow Lord, then Sun Child picks up three months after the events of the Crow Lord, this book is more spicy you get more, more basically vampire, drama, more action, and more Lila and Ambrose. Kind of like a quick recap for anyone going into the Sun child, is at the end of the Crow Lord, Lila has now gone back with the vipers as she’s trying to have like a Feyre moment from ACOWAR and basically bring them down from the inside. But again in this one, we top book one with our spice, with our drama, with the action. Thank you so much to blue nose audio for allowing an opportunity to listen to these audios early. Thank you so much again to the amazing Ryan Stone and Raven Wildewood for your narration. And most importantly, thank you to the author J.M. Failde!
I listened to The Sun Child on audio through Blue Nose, and the narrators were phenomenal—they added so much dimension and really brought the world to life. Lila’s journey is filled with twists, political intrigue, and a growing awareness of her skills and power that kept me engaged throughout.
It was spicier than I expected and at times the pacing felt a little drawn out, but the mystery and tension woven into the story made it a captivating continuation of Lila’s path.
I couldn’t imagine a better sequel for such a lovely story! It’s sad that it has come to an end, but I really enjoyed it while it lasted and I thank the author for that. The perfect combination of fantasy and romance made me realize just how much I’ve missed vampire stories, and, just like with part 1, I believe that the idea of having different type of vampires was quite creative, not to mention the existence of the Sun Child which made sense. In other words, world building was really good and left me wanting more of it. On the other hand, the part I liked the most about book 2 was Lila and Ambrose’s relationship. During the whole book I was thinking just how great the change in their dynamic was, and how I’m glad we actually got to see how their relationship progressed instead of getting the good old “they lived happily ever after.” In short, their love story in this book was on the whole other level, both emotionally and physically, and I enjoyed it more than anything else. Special shoutout to the dedication, I believe most people here would relate to it ;) I both love and hate how the story has stopped as a duology since I’ve got to really like and relate to most of the characters (I do believe that we got a very scarce amount of secondary characters scenes in part 2 though), but I also understand that everything has been said and done, so now I’m just waiting for new books ;)
The amount of internal screaming I am doing at this book. Good screaming, I promise. Oh. My. God. This book do be spicing (after the teasing of spice in the first book) but it also be storying... I laughed, I cried, I sat on the edge of my seat rooting them on, I yelled in frustration, I grinned so wide and felt my heart melt, I flailed in embarrassment, and I hurt my neck because I could not put the book down long enough to stretch my neck out. The amount of slouching over my kindle for hours on end that I just did...especially half way in the book all the way to the end. Youch!
I read what Julie wrote at the end, about how the direction of the story went the completely opposite way of how it was planned, and I'm SOOO glad Ambrose and Lila had a mind of their own. This was perfect, and I WILL be rereading this duology repeatedly in the coming future. All the characters, not just Ambrose and Lila, were absolutely wonderful and I want to dive back into their world again. Yes, even the gritty dark stuff that happened. I'm ready to shout in anger and cry again, thanks. Also, I quoted the spicy moments at my husband, so now he's wanting to read the duology for himself haha!
A few things I want to point out though. This book gets REALLY dark and also gory, so please take care and check out the list of trigger warnings on Julie's site. There is also a miscommunication trope, and that's probably my least favorite trope ever, but I loved the characters so much that I managed to tough it out. These are characters that grow throughout the story, not just their relationship but themselves as people, so they need tropes like this to try to work through.
Lastly, as I mentioned before, this book IS spicy - the whole duology, but this second book especially. There are a ton of scenes and multiple k!nks are explored. I would consider this dark romantasy, so you know what to expect. Also monster love, he is a vampire with a monster form after all. Ambrose and Lira are a highly charged relationship, they find any kind of excuse to get down. Just as a heads up! I thought it was fine personally, but I wanted to point it out for others.
Okay, now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go scream some more.
**WARNING that there may be spoilers in this review if you have not read The Crow Lord**
Finals slowed me down on this book but I LOVED it! It was so lovely to see Lila and Ambrose again after the way The Crow Lord ended. The beginning of the book was hard to go through but it was therapeutic seeing Lila grow stronger in herself, her power, and her bond with Ambrose.
A lot of my favorite characters were back like Pollock (🥹), Constance, Kaz, and now Rebekkah. Everyone really banded together to beat the odds. I have a feeling the nasty Drusilla is somehow still going to torment us some more… can’t wait to see what happens next!
“Just like her love, her rage was a weapon.”
“I only want you, Ambrose. Monster and all. If you need to lose control, lose it on me. If you need to yell, yell for me. If you need to kill, kill for me. But know, even in death, all I ever want is you.”

P.S. My girl MORE than made up for the slow burn tension torture in book one 👀
the sun child by j.m failde is the second book in the vampires of malvania series that is set 3 months after the crow lord ended. after the war, lila bran was forced to go back to the viper morada leaving behind her lover, the crow lord himself, ambrose draven. now, lila and ambrose must fight hard to make it back to each other and rescue lila's brother.
the crow lord was one of my favorite fantasy books i've ever read and the cliffhanger almost killed me. i have been dying to get my hands on this book & i'm so grateful to julie for sending me an arc for this <333
this book gave me everything i needed from lila and ambrose, i loved seeing lila get even more powerful and seeing ambrose getting even more whipped? my absolute favorite combination. the beginning was a little rough, ill be honest. it was hard trying to understand why lila was doing what she was doing but slowly everything started to add up & it was all i hoped for. this book exceeded my expectations & fed me so well. i want so much more of lila and ambrose and i'm sad that i have to say goodbye to their story now but i'm hoping we'll see glimpses of them in the future books of the series!
overall, this was an incredible book. if you haven't picked up the first one yet - WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? you will not find a more intense, fun & swoon worthy romantasy! the sun child comes out tomorrow on the 21st of june so if you've been dying to get back to lila & ambrose's story - don't forget to pick it up!!
I loved the conclusion to the Vampires of Malvania duology. Book two definitely cranked up the volume of spicy scenes and had a heavier hand on the darker elements than the first book, so double check your triggers. Loved Ambrose and Lila's character evolution through this book. They both made some choices that were really questionable, but later everything plays out so perfectly! I am really hoping to see more of the Vampires of Malvania, and explore more character's stories!
"When it comes to you, I am absolutely feral, darling."
If you’ve seen my review for “The Crow Lord” you’ll know I absolutely loved the first book and was super hopeful for the second book in the series….and it absolutely did not disappoint!!! The story progressed beautifully, the characters were still enticing and the romance/spice was turned ALL the way up! 🔥
I was completely entranced wondering what was gonna happen next throughout this entire novel and was pleasantly surprised with some of the twists and turns. I’ll admit the beginning did have me questioning Lila’s choices but as the story progressed they made sense. I loved seeing Lila, our little crow, evolve and am SO happy with how things turned out for her and those around her. (He’s probably quite burnt out.🤣🤣) Ambrose is still amazing and I loved his protective moments - he truly is a crow daddy. 🤣 “You will forever be my monster.” Speaking of crows … Pollock is still the absolute best character. 🐦⬛ (I’m not even a bird person and I would die for him.) This book truly exceeded my expectations and left me wanting more! While this is the last official book for Lila and Ambrose, I truly hope we see more of Malvania and them in the future. 🤞I feel like there’s so many other characters I want a happy ending for (like Rebecca and Marcus) and while we did get some major hints at their love stories, I would love to see more. 😍 I can always tell when I really love a book because it makes me think what if and daydream over what happens next and this book absolutely did that for me and I hope it does for you too! 💜🐦⬛
“When it comes to you, I am absolutely feral, darling.”
The Sun Child is an action-packed, spicy romantasy that explores themes of resilience and the power of love. The book follows the journey of Lila Bran, who at the end of The Crow Lord discovered hidden powers, and her quest to avenge herself and the other vampires and humans who were victimized by her enemies in the Viper Morada. Amidst her quest, she finds strength in the fortified bond she has formed with the Crow Lord, Ambrose Draven.
I was in awe of Lila and how far she’s come. Not only did she hone her fighting skills, but she also became a symbol of hope for human and vampire alike. Lila’s self-sacrifice made her a pillar of strength and although she struggled with past and current traumas, she continued to put others before herself, including Ambrose. After the events that led Lila to return to the Viper Morada, Ambrose found himself in a pit of self-loathing and lost to the monster he thought he was. He found strength in Lila’s love, and I was melting every time he waxed poetic to her. Ambrose fell hard for her, and his world was all Lila.
The banter between Ambrose and Lila was so smexy and sometimes filthy. I loved all their innuendos and double entendre. They were so playful, and I loved the telepathic monologues they had with each other. J.M. Failde went balls to the wall with the spice in this book. It was FIRE and it was quite a treat seeing the freaky side of Lila. And don’t get me started on Ambrose monster size *wink, wink*
Get ready for a wild ride! The Sun Child will have you at the edge of your seat and your heart pounding. Also, you may blush quite a bit and/or need a cold shower. If you’re looking for your next romantasy, look no further.
The love I have for this book! Julie is fantastic and so is this sequel! The smut is perfection! The connection and action is well balanced! I will read ANYTHING that she puts out! This did NOT disappoint!
✨𝑨𝑹𝑪 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘✨ 📖: The Sun Child (The Vampires of Malvania Book 2) 🐦⬛: Out now and available in KU!
Danger lurks and war has come. Following the events of the first book, we find Lila suffering the cruel whims of the enemies as her allies work to regroup and stave off the impending evil. Will they be able to save the courts and humanity?

This installment felt like an intimate portrait of Ambrose, our Monster of Malvania. We are given deeper insight into his dark past, self-loathing, and unrelenting love for Lila.
Lila undergoes much physical and mental turmoil but continues to fight for a future where mortals are free from enslavement. She and Ambrose help heal each other from the painful memories of their pasts and strengthen each other through their love. I enjoyed watching Lila step into her power and slowly embrace her darkness and Ambrose’s.
The Sun Child is an action-packed sequel teeming with searing spice, unique magic, and highlights the journey of hope and healing. I’m excited to see what’s in store for our characters in Book 3!
Huge thanks to the author for this ARC opportunity. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I was very excited for this sequel, and I have to say I'm a bit sad to say goodbye to these characters. The Sun Child picks up shortly after the events of the first book, and it doubles down on the darkness and the romance!
The first half of the book with Lila back with her abusers was sometimes very difficult to read (and I highly encourage you to read the trigger warnings provided by the author before diving in) and admittedly it was also the part I had a harder time getting into. I wasn't entirely sure what Lila's plan to outsmart her enemies was given that they seemed to be able to overpower her at every turn, and this would have also been a great opportunity to perhaps dive deeper into the psyche of the "villains" and give them more layers.
The second half of the book, on the other hand, was my favorite! Ambrose and Lila together are the strength of this story, and I loved how the action moved forward quickly in this section, with the introduction of some fantastic characters. This part also had so much spice, which might be a lot for some but that I enjoyed 1) because it was a long time coming and 2) because I feel like it gave space to unravel aspects of Ambrose's character that dip deeper into his "monsterous" side. Finding out more about him was one of my favorite things about the book!
Overall, I very much enjoyed this sequel and am super satisfied with the ending.
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy to review. Opinions are my own.
This picked up right where we left off in book one and my god everything that took place in this book were danger, obsession of power, Lila coming into her own power and strength, the ridiculous amount of love, respect and lust the sun child and the monster of malvania had for each other. Higher stakes and being introduced to new characters which one specifically that I loved.
All the tension from book one built up and exploded into this second half of the duet. Literally, Lila and Ambrose neeeeeeeded to let themselves breathe because how in the world is it possible to do all those things they did. 🫠❤️🔥
➵ FMC gets her revenge ➵ They could not keep their hands off each other ➵ Vamp wars and fight for dominance ➵ Monstef/true form fun times 🫠🫠
Again, narrated by Raven Wildewood & Ryan Stone. They did a brilliant job bringing these characters to life and handled those spicy scenes well.
Thank you to J.M. Failde & Blue Nose Audio for the alc 🖤
The perfect end to The Crow Lord! I love this story and its author so much! The Sun Child definitely kicks up the stakes and the spice. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Lila and Ambrose have my heart. The world of Malvania is a place I would live forever as long as I get Pollock! 10/10 can’t wait to see what J.M. Failde writes next!
I had high hopes for this sequel, because I loved the first book, but unfortunately it fell a bit short for me. The pacing was slow in the beginning, it took a while for the action to pick up, and once it did, it kept getting interrupted by smut.
Don't get me wrong, I love some good smut in my books but I need for the plot to be strong as well, and for the smut to make sense in the plot. Smut in the middle of a battle? Not my favorite.
I did enjoy the found family aspect, the dual POV, and the themes of revenge and forgiveness were well done; Pollock the crow remains the cutest character!
Fans of romantasy, touch her/him and ☠️, and "who did this to you?" will enjoy this one!
Thank you to the author for a copy in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 The writing in this book was so good. There was so much love written into this book I found myself feeling ALL the feels. Compared to book 1 the writing had some changes, but they were good ones. The Sun Child was 10000% had more spice than The Crow Lord. In fact, there was A LOT of spice tbh, but I am not complaining. To include THAT many spicy scenes in a book and be able to write them in a way that doesn’t seem repetitive and his hot EVERY time is a true skill.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒 Although the characters from The Crow Lord were all featured in this book, I’d say most of The Sun Child revolved around Ambrose and Lila. Which I loved. We got to explore their love story more and watch it grow and evolve and that was something I looked forward to after finishing book one.
We did meet Nostros in this book who i absolutely adored as well but I’ll let you guys read it so you can develop your own love for him 😉
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐋𝐎𝐓 This book was an excellent sequel to The Crow Lord. I mean reading about Lila going from the meek abused human and starting to find her strength in that book to being a COMPLETE FIERCE BADA** WOMAN who snatched her power right tf back was such a fun ride. I have always rooted for her. This book was slow to medium paced until the end and it really picked up and got crazy. I really had so much fun with this and I cannot wait to see what Julie has in store next.
I finished this story a couple of days ago and wasn't able to write anything for the review, probably because I needed some time to overcome the feels that I got during reading. The book has a lot of remarkable things, like the Maggot Mansion (which I would love to read more about), the growth of Rebbekah Reinick and the presence of other characters like Nostro.
The writing style is something I like a lot when it comes to Julie's books. She has this kind of way of describing places that's very pretty. Also her ability to create "easy" dialogue it's something I admire. There's a lot of emotion going on here. Every paragraph's full of feelings, and for me the emotional part of the characters is super important 'cause that way we, as readers, are able to understand the goals, thinking process and way of respond all along the story.
The relationship between Lila and Ambrose is spicier than ever in this book. And eventhough I'm not really bother about it, I wanted more of them talking, having little moments together without sex being involved.
The last chapters were fast paced, easy to read and enjoy. And overall I loved the story ✨️ So you must be asking why I rated it with 4 stars and not 5, so here's why...
🌼 The book is good, but it doesn't show you the things, it tells you. And when it comes to books the thing of show—don't—tell it's very important. 🌼 I would've loved to know better the villains, specially Drusilla. I knew she wanted power, and that she was creating this kind of army, but I never met her, so she became a distant character and when it comes to villains, well, they're basically the most important characters on the story, because based on what they do that's the answer we're going to have from the protagonists.
Tbh there's a lot going on here and eventhough I prefer "The Crow Lord", I think this book is wonderful 💖
If you ever wanted to fuck the man AND the monster.. Look no further. Holy crow lord, Julie really did THAT.
After the ending of The Crow Lord, I was left hanging off a damn cliff and The Sun Child did not disappoint. I was not expecting the level of damn spice, but good gods was it everything I needed and more 🥵 I would not recommend reading at work 😂 We get to see more of Malvania, the other lords, and just a general back story about how it all came to be.
Ambrose Draven is my husband and I will fight any of you who try and take him. The way I kept saying that this man was too good to be true, and he only kept getting more perfect 😩 Monster of Malvania in the streets, big old softie (but it’s actually hard 😏) in the sheets.
Lila Bran. In book one we meet her as the little mouse, and throughout TSC we get to see her grow into a little crow. She’s so strong and definitely doesn’t want to sit on the side lines and let a man take care of business.
It was so lovely seeing both of them grow on their own but come back to each other stronger than ever. This duet is such a fun and wild journey so if you haven’t read it yet, you should really get on that.
Loved book one. Idk what happened here, I guess my expectations were different. I just couldn't wrap my head around the MCs actions. Whyy?? Why? Why would anyone with a slither of common sense decide to put themselves into grave danger just to prove a point? There wasn't enough reasoning for me to believe it was necessary and to build the whole book around something so contrived and silly just made no sense to me. The smut was also kind of... Weird? Out of place? It didn't feel "native" to the book for some reason.
Oh my Ambrose! This book really had me guessing at what was coming next! Holy moly! I loved the character development Lila (and Marcus goes through) and how she finds her power in herself and believes in herself by not just her own realization, but the cheerleaders she has! The spice level was turned on so high that it was sometimes steaming up my iPad screen 🫣
I have to say one thing without spoiling tho: I have loved Rebekah since the first book. I guess it’s the red hair 😉
I also cannot wait for this series to become a NYT bestseller!
4.5⭐️ Oh this was fun. And intense. And SPICY. like, SPICY HOT. you know how it was a slow burn in The Crow Lord and it left some of us wanting more. Yea, J.M. made sure we weren't left wanting more. 😅 But seriously, I enjoyed continuing this story and seeing what happens with Lila after that intense cliffhanger in book 1. Though it was heartbreaking watching what she goes through. But damn she's tough as nails. And she does get her revenge, which was oh so sweet. Absolutely loved seeing her discover her true identity and what she's capable of. You definitely don't want to be on her bad side.
Her and Ambrose, they deserve a long vacation alone, in peace after all they went through.
Aww I missed Pollock, was so happy to see him again. 🥹 And Rebekkah, I've come to love her character. And felt for her too.
Overall I freaking enjoyed this book. And ending was cute and hot lol I wonder though, will there be more 🤔
