Pet Whisperer P.I. #4

Farabutti pelosi

Rate this book

Molly Fitz is the quirky, cozy mystery pen name of USA Today bestselling author, Melissa Storm. And while she can't technically talk to animals, she and her doggie best friend, Sky Princess, have deep and very animated conversations as they navigate their days. Add to that, five more dogs, a snarky feline, comedian husband, and diva daughter, and you can pretty much imagine how life looks in the Casa de Fitz.

Molly lives in a house on a high hill in the Michigan woods and occasionally ventures out for good food, great coffee, or to meet new animal friends.

When Angie Russo's boss, Bethany, hires an annoying slacker to "help" Angie with her workload, it kicks off a chain of events Angie could never have expected. Not only does she discover more about how she gained the ability to talk to her cat, but also knowledge that some people are totally not what they seem....

Dog Eared Delinquent is the 4th book in the Pet Whisperer P.I. series. I love Angie as a main character and Octo-Cat is just wonderfully snarky and entertaining. This book took the series for a bit of an unexpected detour....but I enjoyed it. (If you don't like stories that contain magic or paranormal situations, then skip this one. It won't hurt your enjoyment of the series to just jump to the next book.)

There is a lot of investigation in this one -- but no murder. This story goes completely another direction. It was a nice surprise!

As with most cozies, the plot is not overly complex, but had enough twists and entertaining moments to keep my attention from beginning to end. I didn't expect a lot of the situations that cropped up for Angie and her feline sidekick this time.

I listened to the audio book version of this story. Narrated by Ann Richardson, the audio is about 3 hours long. It was an easy, entertaining listen as usual. I like Ann's voice. She reads at a nice pace and does a great job voicing Angie, Octo-Cat and all the other characters.

All in all, a fun (and very different) addition to the series!

It appears that I have run out of audio books for this series. I listen to a lot of books these days due to problems with my eye sight. But, I like this series enough to put on my very strong glasses and enlarge the type size on my kindle to read the next book -- The Cat Caper! Can't wait to find out what's coming next for Angie and Octo-cat!

There's a new intern at Longfellow, Peters, & Associates, where Angie Russo still works part-time, Peter Peters, and is he ever creepy. Angie suspects he might know about her and Octo-Cat...

After the mildly disappointing book 3, I was very much looking forward to DOG-EARED DELINQUENT, and it was certainly not what I'd hoped for. It was much more suspenseful than the previous book, but I was not pleased with the plot twists. It turns out that DOG-EARED DELINQUENT is little more than the introduction to the author's upcoming series, Paws & Probable Cause, which I will definitely not read. I felt my time was wasted; I did not enjoy this book, I avoid paranormal cozy mysteries.

While I adore Nan, Angie's grandmother, and the cat (Octo-Cat; I still cannot write the name without cringing), it seems Angie keeps losing brain cells as well as seemingly having suddenly developed "giant boobs"! (Unless it had been mentioned before, but I sincerely doubt it). What is it with female authors' obsession with ample bosoms recently? This is not only Ms. Fitz, but in general, and is not reflected in my rating, however what seemed like Apple product placement is. And what was that with the episode at the electronics store? It was silly of Angie.

This book made me angry, I felt I had been duped, hence the 2 stars. It started out great, but it was in fact an unnecessary installment, and I'm guessing if you skip this one, you will have missed very little for book 5, as in each book the premise is reexplained. Only the last few pages convinced me to continue with the series. And while there is only a handful of typos, it seems hiring a *third* proofreader is in order, because "a riveting tail", really? And it wasn't a play on words.

I'm sticking with the series because it was fun, I want to see how it ends, but I will have to forget DOG-EARED DELINQUENT ever happened.

This was my least favorite of the bunch because which seemed...silly. I still enjoy the concept of a cat talking to its owner (literally) and even more solving mysteries. But...I don't know if I need more, with what just came up. We'll see how my reading mood is the next time a book is released/comes across my radar.

Arriving at work, Angie discovers someone sitting at her desk. Supposedly, Peter is there to help her, but Angie soon finds out that he is not to be trusted. She is also surprised at the turn of events that reveal to her that she is not the only one blessed, or maybe cursed, with magic. There are many ups and downs in this magical tale, and, of course, Octo-Cat is the star of the show. If you enjoy quirky characters, both human and animal, you are bound to enjoy the clever cozies in this series.

She talks to her cat, and he responds

Okay, I get the basic premise. I communicate pretty well with one of my black labs on a regular basis. BUT werecats and weredogs and a magical conspiracy? Nope! That's stretching things just a little. I just couldn't "buy" the way that part of the story developed - just did not make sense to me. Sorry, cannot recommend this one.

The law firm of Longfellow, Peters, and Associates has hired an assistant for Angie, now that she’s part-time, and he’s Peter Peters, the annoying cousin of new partner Bethany. When Angie inquires about his qualifications, Peter spits out “I’m her cousin, and I work for minimum wage.”

From his first day, Peter makes sneaky and snarky remarks hinting at Angie’s ability to talk to Octo-Cat. The comments unnerve Angie, but whenever she responds, Peter accuses her of being too sensitive. Until he hands her an address and tells her to be there at 10 p.m.

Naturally, Angie and Octo-Cat decide to check out the location early, which doesn’t go well, but offers clues about a string of baffling robberies taking place in Blueberry Bay’s business district. Events head downhill from there, putting the duo in danger, but eventually revealing just how Angie acquired her special power.

Dog-Eared Delinquent is an especially satisfying addition to the Pet Psychic series, as it not only explains Angie’s gift, but devotes a substantial portion of the story to the ever-growing love between Angie and Octavius Maxwell Ricardo Edmund Frederick Fulton Russo. With Nan in residence cooking up a storm and forcing Octo-Cat to wear the occasional bow tie (“Et tu, Nan? I thought you loved me”), everyone is ultimately comforted and close, although Charles is still dating that annoying realtor.

The Apple Peter is a cat's best friend

Awesome. Quirky, funny and magical. A plot of burglaries that shows our heroine and her toffee nosed cat another side of the world we live in. A magical side! The characters just get better and although Octo Cat might find faults in her (okay more than might) he does have a sneaky regard for her.
She is still dithering about quitting and setting up as a PI. But coming in and seeing the intern is a shock. An intern that is a cousin of one of the partners and one who shows complete disrespect towards her. Not only that he seems to be hinting that he knows her secret. Nan and Octo decide to find out if it is true. A secret meeting, a club that disappears, burglaries around town (but no suspects and nothing on the security films), shifters and magic. Will she cope with the new reality she is forced to see? What will happen when they find out she is normal but can understand Octo? Will they make her ewes power disappear and if so where will it leave her and Octo?

Angie's curiosity might just kill the cat!🙀

Author Molly Fitz's pampered Octo-Cat character is a bit more loyal and loving, less snarky in this book in the series. Angie Russo finds something rotten in Denmark (oops, actually in the law firm where she paralegals part-time) and its name is Peter Peters. Her unease about his comments and behavior lead to dangerous investigative moves and her cat volunteers as her sidekick P.I.

Although Octo-Cat's sass has been turned down a bit compared to earlier stories in the series, he still provides for some choice moments, like Angie's shopping expedition to find him the perfect cat tracker. Angie's Gran also flaunts her eccentricity. The humor and sarcasm is one of my favorite things about the series.

Cute, cozy story with eccentrics and a bit of magic I did not see coming.

I read a complimentary copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

""Times are tricky when you have a talking cat bossing you around day-in and day-out."

Angi and Octo-Cat set out on their fourth adventure, and this one's different than anything before. When Bethany Peters, Angi's boss du jour brings her cousin Peter into the firm to be the new intern, things get so bad Angi wishes she's never met the guy let alone be forced to work with him. He might know her secret: could he used it to get his way?

I love the characters in this series. However, I was disappointed with the story which felt like a sitcom script gone bad. I found myself cringing as I read farther, hoping I wasn't really reading what I was reading. It was too "pat" for such great chats as Angi, Nan, and even Octo-Cat. This book gets 3 out of 5 stars. It was good, but could have been so much better. 3/5

This book had to much magic in it for me. Yes I realized that a talking cat seems over the top too but some people seem to have a knack for talking to animals and knowing what they want.
DOG-EARED DELINQUENT is the introduction to the author's upcoming series, Paws & Probable Cause, Since it will have more magic like this I will not be reading it.
The book is well written for those who like this type of book. Bethany hires her cousin Peter to work for the firm and man does he cause problems for Angie and Octo- Cat, and the police with all his burglaries. You will have to read the book to find out all the stuff.

I enjoyed this book. It is very different to the previous books and is based all around magic and not to everyone cup of tea but I liked learning how Angie got her ability to talk to Octo-cat. There was no mystery to solve but it was still a good read and I read the whole book in one evening. I loved Octo-cats antics and still found him as funny as ever.
The firm has hired a new staff member but something about him is off, if only Angie could put her finger on it or remember. Nan and Octo-cat don't trust him either so plan to befriend him in order to learn what he is up to. It's not long before the gig is up and they learn his secret. In stead of telling them what is happening he invites Angie to a strange new clubs that will turn her whole world upside down and change it forever but will it break the bond between her and Octo-cat?

This book was quite different from the other ones in the series. It involved magic and no one died.

I enjoyed finding out how Angie Russo and Octo-Cat were able to communicate after Angie got electrocuted by the coffee pot at work. If you like reading books about magic and people turning into animals you will like that in this book. I personally do not really enjoy that so this book is not my favorite in the series although I really enjoyed the other parts of the book. It was very suspenseful which I enjoyed and it was not like the other books which was nice too. I also liked wondering if Angie and Octo-Cat had lost their ability to communicate for good, I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

I really am loving this series as Angie and Octo-Cat get together and solve mysterious happenings, murders and in this case thefts. Angie really wants to know how she ended up with the ability to talk to Octo-Cat and have him speak back to her. Someone should have reminded her about that old saying "be careful for what you wish for".

She finds out okay--and meets a bunch of animals that can transform into people and they want Angie and Octo-Cat to help them rob a store. How Angie ends up circumventing this at the last minute was ingenious.

She does find out why she now has this ability--but with the help of a bit of magic is able to forget again! One little difference--she can now understand when animals other then Octo-Cat speak. Hum--I wonder how Octo-Cat will like that?

When magic bites

Bethany, Angie's boss, hires her creepy cousin Peter to 'help' Angie with her less than busy workload. When Peter claims to understand OctoCat too, Angie is full of questions about how this could be true. When Peter asks to meet at a special place to answer her questions but the daring duo show up early, they meet Moss. Then Peter turns on Angie when he realises she's not who he assumed she was. And how are the string of robberies downtown being done when no one is seen in the vicinity? Are the two linked? Will Angie finally find out why she & OctoCat can understand each other? And just who is Moss?
You'll want to be with Angie as she realises how her ability started.

I really liked this story!

I very much enjoy Molly Fitz's books and this one is no different.
This story introduces a character from another series (also by Molly Fitz), and another one besides who is a rather nasty piece of work. This had a few good twists in it and some answers that anyone reading this series has probably been waiting for.
The only reason I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 is because this book really could've used an editor. There was more than one word that was entirely wrong from it should've been. Missing words and incorrect punctuation in more than one place too.
The story itself was very good tho and even sad towards the end, altho that bit gets resolved in a good way.
On to the next book in the series!

I didn't care for this book as much as I did the first three. It was nice learning how Angie and Octo-Cat got the ability to talk to each other. I was never satisfied with the idea of her getting zapped and acquiring that ability. The mystery in this one felt a bit forced and there were some inconsistencies. I can't really go into detail without writing spoilers. I thought it was silly that Angie wanted her memory erased. She hadn't done anything to be ashamed of and if her memory was erased she wouldn't be able to testify against the bad guys(which she would have to do in real life.) I plan on reading the next book and hope it is better.

I’m actually kind of glad that I read the author’s Claw & Order series before reading this book. Having done it backwards, I knew a little bit of what to expect and so I wasn’t as caught off guard by the introduction of so many new paranormal elements. (It also makes several things in the Claw & Order series a lot clearer now.) This was a fun story that I enjoyed. I liked seeing all the new plot points the author is playing with, and I’m looking forward to discovering where they’ll lead us. But it wasn’t the same kind of sleuthing that I’d come to expect from Angie and Octo-cat. It almost felt like it was more set in the other series than it was a true part of the Pet Whisperer P.I.

The fourth book in this series and Angie has to work alongside an intern with alterior motives.

This book has more 'magical' ingredients than the previous ones and it took a bit to get used to it, but I did like the suspense of figuring it out and going on the rollercoaster ride with Angie and Octo.

I loved Octo-cat's love for Apple products, he's so entitled and cute LOL

This book also had me ugly crying, which to me is an indication of how well it is written. It really tugs at your heartstrings, well, mine at least.

This book was the best in the series so far (and I already loved the previous ones), so I can't wait to read more!

Another fun book in this zany series

In this installment, it’s finally revealed why Angie woke up from her near death experience with the ability to communicate with Octo-Cat. So cool. And there was a super fun twist for Angie and Octo-Cat at the end of the book. The development alone is worth the read.

And yes, it’s a bit over the top at times, but IMHO in a very good way! In an oh-my-goodness-that’s-so-funny way! In an I-don’t-take-myself-too-seriously way.

If you’re looking for a good mystery with a lot of laughs, than look no further. I love this series!

The law firm where Angie works has hired a new guy named Peter Peters to help with her workload; however, Angie doesn't trust him. There's just something about him that seems to be trouble. When Angie and Octo-Cat follow Peter, they're introduced to a world of magic complete with shifters. As part of the events, Angie finds out why she can talk to Octo-Cat.

I enjoyed the book and it was great to find out the reason behind Angie's ability. I recommend this book to fans of animals and mystery. Do read the books in order for the most enjoyable experience.

Ms.Fitz sure put a surprise into this mystery a little twist that gave a hole new light on Angie's list of of strange , that also upped the ante on the vibrant caracters Ms.Fitz brings to her fabulous storey telling. Angie and Octo-Cat struggle with a new foe and this one somehow knows thier secret, wanting to blackmail them into committing a crime. This time they're fighting to save themselves from discovery. Can they succeed ,if you pick-up your own copy of" Dog Eared Delinquent " you too can enjoy finding the answers. 😑🤔🙄☺ Kat

This is less of a review and more of a reminder to myself for when I read further into the series. I'm glad we finally learned how Angie and Octocat became able to talk to one another, but the ending left me confused. Did the forget spell work on her as well as the cat? If not, won't Octocat just tell her what happened?? I don't want her to forget about magic. She needs to know to protect herself and Octocat. And Octocat needs to know he lost another one of his lives. I hope the spell wears off and she remembers and we finally get to hear the story of how Octocat lost the first 4 lives.

Dog-Eared Delinquent is the latest book in the delightful Pet Whisperer P.I. series. Angie and Octo-cat are back and something is not right with the new assistant at the law firm. Even worse, he seems to know their secret.
This book has all the wonderful features you expect from this series including great characters, laugh out loud moments and a mystery to solve. It also reveals more of Angie's ability to talk to Octo-cat. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it, and the series.

I enjoyed Dog-Eared Delinquent. It is a bit different than the previous books in the series and I was a bit surprised. I did not like it as much as the previous couple of books. It is a lot more paranormal and deals with magic more than the previous books and this didn't seem to match the usual feel of this series. I do love the characters and enjoyed their interactions together. This book did not have the usual murder mystery either. Overall the book is interesting and fun. The ending did leave me interested to read the next book in the series.

Do you believe in magic? Sometimes all is not as it seems.
Angie is being hassled at work by a newcomer and trouble maker, who just happens to be the bosses cousin.
I loved the twists and turns as the plot thickens around Angie and Octo-Cat.
They seem to be able to manage to get themselves in trouble at every corner.
How they ever manage to pull themselves out of it, with a little help from their friends, always amuses me.
Enjoyed this book and recommend Molly Fitz as a fun author.

I received this book as a free copy and give my honest review with pleasure.
