Drawing on students’ experiences of structural racism in the UK higher education institutions, this book offers an informed analysis on the barriers to Black student progression. It documents success stories and provides key recommendations for the sector on how to eliminate discrimination and achieve positive results for Black students.
A very important read for those interested in pursuing, or are already in the academic profession. It’s important to read about the challenges different ethnic groups face so that we’re not blinded by the illusion that success within this sector is meritocratic. There are frequent targeted malpractices hindering Black students success, and while we celebrate the success of these authors, academia needs to be held accountable.
