Winter
Imagine going through a traumatic experience that almost changes your whole life. That’s exactly why I try to live every day tucking my secret away. However, my abusive, alcoholic father likes to remind me daily how much of a screw up I am when all I want to do is forget about my past and live my life like a normal twenty-one-year-old. Then one day I walk into a bar, and everything changes. I lock eyes with Carsten Hatcher, and I forget how to breathe. Everyone seems to have their opinions of him; he's different around me, he shows me what it's like to feel loved for who I am, saving me from my life and from myself.
Carsten
Some might call me a man whore and see me as someone who goes through girls like crazy, I just see myself as someone who doesn't do relationships. That is until I meet Winter, she catches my attention right away and I instantly become protective of her. She makes me want to change my old ways and things I never imagined wanting before. I will do anything I can to keep her in my life and make her mine, because now that I’ve had her, I’m too obsessed to lose her.

I am removing my review because it appears that the promotional company sent out a completely unedited file to ARC readers (which was very apparent). Hopefully the corrected proof will be much better.

This book was such a cute story. Definitely a pallet cleanser for ones that read some super dark books like I do. I loved Winter and Carsten so much! I really loved how realistic this story seemed with these characters getting together and the struggles of getting to know each other and problems that can happen in everyday life. Poor Winter went through so much in this story and I am so glad she got the ending she did. This book had a very good amount of spice and some dirty talk. The plot was also good in my opinion, I continuously stayed interested in the story. I’m not sure if this author has more books out now, or if this is the only one written so far, but I would definitely like to read more from this author.

Wow! What a Powerful Read!

This book blew me away. Winter has so much trauma and pain in her life, but she is strong and resilient and is able to work her way through to the other side. Carsten is being added to my list of book boyfriends as he is tasty! I loved how he took care of Winter and how when he knew, he knew. This book is not one that can be taken lightly. Please read the trigger warnings, and if you are okay with them, then you really need to read this. The chemistry is strong, and the heat is hot! I couldn’t put it down. Bravo on an amazing premier release, and I look forward to reading many more from this new author!

This book was great! I received an ARC copy from the amazing Christina Maria. I didn't want to do life and stop reading. There was so much to the plot, lots of crazy things happening to Winter. And my goodness, you could not help falling for Carsten and his amazing family. There was plenty of spice, these two could not keep their hands off of each other. One con with the spice, some of it felt repetitive, same sex they always had. But still so good! Thank you again, Christina! Great job!

Alcoholic abusive parent on the MFC side
Loss of a parent

Winter has had a rough life. Her mother was in a terrible car accident and died. Her dad is an abusive alcoholic parent but she loves him.

Her friend Emerald and she went to a bar in town. Emerald wanted her to have fun. When they got there and walked in Carsten noticed her right away and couldn't take his eyes off of her. The man who doesn't like to be called "baby" likes to call the shots. Doesn't want a relationship because of the girl who left him years ago. He was consumed by Winter's beauty.

He had to get to know her.

After that night she went home to her Dad. Finally had enough of her Dad abusing her and moved in with Emerald.

When she got there Carsten saw what had happened and that was the day he knew he would protect her always.

Winter
“Can you please help me down, with like a ladder or something, so I don’t freeze to death, ‘cause I’m a freeze baby. Or so I don’t embarrass myself and pee my pants.'' He’s still laughing and I'm standing here hoping the freaking wind doesn’t knock me over.

This is where some of it began. Her getting locked out of her friend's house on the upstairs porch.

There is so much more to this story than just smex and the banter. It's a story of two people coming together. Experience what real love is about. The characters are believably relatable.
This is where I fell in love with them all

Carsten
“It’s simple really.” I step a little closer to her, pushing her hair behind her ear. “No two snowflakes are exactly alike, she’s so unique in so many different ways.” I stand in front of her caging her in with my arms. “Winter is my favorite season, and so far, she’s becoming my favorite person.” I brush the hair away from her other ear, grazing her cheek, watching her shiver. She gulps hard, I don’t hear it but I see it. “To me the snow is so beautiful and when it snows, every time I see it, it’s like it’s the first time. Every time I see my Snowflake, it’s like the first time I’ve ever laid eyes on her. Every. Single. Time,” I end with a whisper, leaning in to kiss her.

That's what made me fall in love with this story. .
Carsten s transformation from being the town wh@re and Winter being the love of his life.
It doesn't end there.

This story was so beautiful. Friends and family coming together. It made me laugh, and cry. I just fricken loved it. I can't wait for Creedance and Esmerelda's story..

It was the spice in this book that made it stand out. Muy Bueno Kiss of the Chefs! The rapid pace of this novel's burn captivated me. The story had a delightful sweetness to it, as well as a fascinating portrayal of the growth and interconnectedness between the two male main characters and the female main characters. In terms of potential improvements, I would have liked to have seen some more background on MMC. He was perfect, do not get me wrong, but I feel as though I did not have the chance to learn more about him or his brother. Possibly in future books. To sum it up, Christina Marie nailed it with Breathing You In and I'm looking forward to her next book(s).

Courtlynd is a small town where everybody knows everybody’s gossip.
Carsten is a man whore and works at his family bar Black Velvet. Tonight is Country Line Dancing Night. He spots Winter who has come into the bar with her friend Emerald for a night out with dancing. He instantly falls for her.
Winter has had a troubled past. Drunken and abusive dad, her mum passing away, being raped. She just wants to enjoy life. She meets Carsten and they hit it off straight away.
This book is really sweet mixed with hot and spicy scenes. I felt a whole range of emotions whilst reading this book. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Breathing You In was a quick, easy read. I did like the idea of this book but think that it could have been further developed/edited. I wish we learned more of Carsten's upbringing and why he is the way he is. I thought the side characters were very likeable, the spice was FREAKING SPICY, and the cover is GORGEOUS!! Also, I was obsessed with Carsten calling Winter "Snowflake" all the time.

**Book Review: *Breathing You In (The Courtlynd Series Book 1)* by Christina Maria**

Christina Maria’s *Breathing You In*, the first book in *The Courtlynd Series*, is a heart-wrenching yet hopeful romantic tale that delves deep into the lives of two individuals seeking solace and redemption. This novel is an emotional rollercoaster, skillfully portraying the complexities of love, healing, and personal transformation.

**Winter**: Winter's story is one of resilience and vulnerability. Traumatized by a past that continues to haunt her and an abusive, alcoholic father who constantly undermines her, Winter's struggle to live a normal life is deeply moving. Maria captures her internal battles with sensitivity, making readers empathize with her plight. The moment she locks eyes with Carsten Hatcher in a bar becomes a pivotal turning point, signifying the beginning of her journey towards healing and self-acceptance.

**Carsten**: Carsten Hatcher, on the surface, appears to be a stereotypical playboy, known for his aversion to relationships. However, Maria peels back the layers to reveal a man capable of deep affection and loyalty. Carsten's transformation is believable and heartfelt, driven by his desire to protect and cherish Winter. His immediate protectiveness and willingness to change for her create a compelling dynamic that adds depth to his character.

The chemistry between Winter and Carsten is palpable, filled with moments of intense connection and tender vulnerability. Their relationship evolves naturally, with each helping the other to confront and overcome their pasts. Carsten's unwavering support and Winter's gradual opening up form the crux of the narrative, making their love story both captivating and inspiring.

Maria’s writing is emotive and evocative, drawing readers into the characters’ emotional landscapes. She deftly balances the darker themes of trauma and abuse with the redemptive power of love and personal growth. The dialogue is authentic, reflecting the characters' struggles and growth, and the pacing keeps readers engaged from start to finish.

One of the strengths of *Breathing You In* is its exploration of the characters' inner worlds. Winter’s journey towards self-worth and Carsten’s realization of his capacity for deep, meaningful love are handled with care and realism. Maria does not shy away from depicting the harsh realities of Winter's life, but she also offers hope and the possibility of a better future, making the story resonate on a deeper level.

The novel also addresses themes of identity and redemption. Both Winter and Carsten are shaped by their pasts, yet their relationship becomes a catalyst for change, showing that it is possible to find light even in the darkest of circumstances. This message is both powerful and uplifting, providing a sense of hope and possibility to readers.

In conclusion, *Breathing You In* is a beautifully crafted romantic drama that delves into the transformative power of love and the importance of confronting one's past. Christina Maria has created complex, relatable characters whose journey towards healing and love is both poignant and inspiring. This first installment of *The Courtlynd Series* sets a high bar, leaving readers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Winter and Carsten’s story. For anyone looking for a heartfelt, emotionally charged romance, this book is a must-read.

Breathing You In was an enjoyable read for me. This story follows Winter and Carsten as they navigate their new found friendship turned relationship.

𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 has only experienced toxic relationships and traumatic hardships since her mothers passing (minus her bestfriend). Unfortunately that includes her own father who decided to drown his sorrows in alcohol. The emotional and physical abuse was heartbreaking💔 Life starts to change when Carsten bursts in and shows her how things can be different.

𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧 isn't the relationship type of guy, causal flings are more his style. While working the bar with his brother he notices Winter in the crowd. She is occupying all his thoughts and he wants nothing more than to be around her. I didn't immediately fall for him in the very beginning but I will say he redeemed himself pretty fast!

This was also a pretty spicy read, these two certainly know how to turn the heat up!

This is winters and carstens story.
And what a story it was.
There are some triggers,so please be aware of them if you have any.
This goes to show that people can change their ways and not everything is what it looks like.
I love how carsten was with winter that he knew there was something different about her and wanted to get to know her.
I loved how, after a misunderstanding,he fought for winter whilst giving her space to let her process things in her own time, but at the same time,he let her know he wasnt going anywhere and would wait for her and do everything to get things back to how they were.
Winter was a lovely character, your heart went out to her for what she went through, but she finally had had enough but it made her stronger and once she met carsten,he was in her corner fighting for her and protecting her.
I absolutely loved the banter between carsten and his brother chase and their 2 friends .
i would love to read the storys of chase and their 2 housemates axton and creed.

Winter and Carsten’s romance is hit and heavy right from the moment they meet. She’s a traumatized, somewhat sheltered and abused FMC determined to heal and move forward and he is a playboy with a hidden alpha protector that comes out as soon as he realizes he may have a chance with Winter.
The story starts off with Carsten with Brynn and I was so thankful that she wasn’t the love interest because she’s got bad news written all over her. Winter has some self confidence to work on, but it’s justified with what she’s been through. Carsten messes up a couple times witch also makes sense since he’s never committed to one woman before. They figure things out together and sometimes not always the best way, but they are truly amazing together and so right for one another.
Extra spicy, great side characters and flow to the story. Please check the trigger warnings because there are some dark moments. I’m excited for the next story in the series!

Breathing you In was such a beautiful and sweet read and had some heartbreaking moments!! It was not my usual type of read but i couldn't put this book down i loved Carsten and Winter's story. It felt so natural and so good.

Their story starts when Winter and her friend goes to a bar where Carsten works (Carstens family bar) and what should i say, Snowflake (Winter) and Carsten are definitely soul mates. The character development and the bond of their relationship were so well written i enjoyed reading it and wow the banter between the brothers and their friends were absolutely amazing. Don't even let me start with the spice 🔥 they couldn't keep their hands off each other.

Let me say i was really happy about the ending, how everything turned out for them and Winters dad.

Absolutely recommend. 🤌 and looking forward to read other books/stories.

First to me author! ✨ ARC Review ✨

Whoa! This book was……AMAZING! From the moment I started reading this book, I could not put it down. Carsten instantly became my favorite man! Although, this story has some triggering topics (anxiety, S. Abuse, P. Abuse and A. abuse) these are very important key factors that add to the story. However, I would had like a little more background on Carsten, as I feel like he didn’t get to really know that well.

Overall I truly enjoyed this story. It had everything, drama, love, spice and was overall good.

10/10 Recommend!

This book was a great read, yes there were some powerful triggers that some readers may need to be mindful of, ( sexual assault, physical abuse, alcoholism, anxiety) but they all add to the story to make it more endearing in the growing feelings between the hunky hot male (Carsten) & curvy in the right places female (Winter) leads. And omg, the spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. This book was sooo hot 🥵🤤I enjoyed how both the characters seemed to age as their relationship grew and it was more than just the usual hook up that Carsten was into at the start of the story. Definitely a great smutty read with all the feels & a happy ending! ( you can read that as a pun too if you like 😉👌🏻) 😍

Thank you for writing this book & allowing me to read it!🫶🏻☺️🔥

Wow! This book was so intense, sexy, and just beautiful. It does have some triggering subjects so please be careful when reading and take a break if it’s too much. There’s a lot of growth throughout the book for the main characters. I found it beautiful how the MMC wasn’t afraid to talk about his feelings and how they evolved through his relationship with the FMC. I’m so glad they had their happily ever after in the end! Also, there’s lot of spice in this book that I’m sure spice lovers will enjoy.

Thanks to the author Christina Maria and Grey Promotions for allowing me to read this wonderful story.

I really wanted to like this book, it seemed really interesting and right up my alley. However, I couldn't get past the juvenile conversations and the repetitive writing. Once Winter and Carsten got together the story just seemed to throw random unimportant problems their way and didn't feel real. For a 22- and 23-year-old, I felt they were acting too young. I liked the concept behind the story but this just wasn't a good book for me.

I was glad I had the opportunity to give this book a second chance once the issues were resolved. It was well worth the read and a refreshing rollercoaster of a contemporary romance from this first time author.

I enjoyed this story. I found the romance to be sweet. The story was a twist and reminded me of why I hate mean girls. Breathing You In by Christina Maria is book one in The Courtlynd Series. This is the first book I’m reading by this author, after reading the blurb I was really interested in this story. I read this book in a day, and really enjoyed it. I will mention checking your trigger warnings just to be on the safe side. I really liked the pacing of the book, there’s some dark themes and events that Winter our FMC has experienced. At times I felt my heart crack with some of the things she has experienced but at the same time I loved her character. When it comes to Carsten he’s a playboy until he meets Winter. I really liked his character but I kind of wish his backstory was delved into a little more. Might just be a me thing but it doesn’t detract from the story at all. This has to me a great blend of sweet, savory and spicy all mixed in making it a fun fast paced read. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Winter and Carsten and how their dynamic was done. The characters were just all so relatable and I really liked that as well. It definitely took my emotions for a stroll while reading certain scenes. Overall I really enjoyed the writing, plot and descriptions of everything… Will be looking out for more from this author.

This book was super sweet. The first half actually eased my anxiety with all the reassurance and new relationship energy. Every hit was met with a soothing touch. The men in the main group of brothers/friends were amazing! I loved all of them and how they supported Carsten and Winter. The second half had me all over the place. Carsten, a retired man whore, was so respectful and I loved how intrigued he was by Winter. He knew what questions to ask and how to play with her. Boy did he know how to play with her and hit all the right buttons. Their relationship was constantly at the whim of small town culture. I almost wanted them to run away but I wouldn't be able to leave that friend group either. And my brain was not expecting that ending. But I also probably read too much dark romance. Overall, it was a sweet and romantic story.

I wish we could give half stars, because this is really 3.5

I love the friendship between Winter and Emerald, but I wish there was more of a back story for certain parts. If these girls are 22 and in college, how does Emerald have this amazing townhouse and where are her parents? Tell me more about Carsten and Chase and their mom… How are the roommates connected? I feel like these characters definitely have major potential, especially for a series, but I just needed a little bit more plot. The spice is great - no complaints there at all lol I also think this needs one or two more reviews by an editor.

Overall, the story was enjoyable and the characters are extremely relatable, and it reads like you’re just a part of the story overhearing their conversations. I think there’s a ton of potential here, but I was just hoping for a little more.

This book was fast paced. I love the relationship between Winter and Carsten. The plot was my everything. I loved the connection they had. I loved that her nickname was Snowflake.
I honestly would read this again but the plot was a bit repetitive at times and very cringe. Their characters were very interesting, I loved that they connected the way they did. The player who never really dates fall in loves with a tattooed girl who is abused by her alcoholic father. The plot twists were very unpredictable. This book was fun for the ride but I wouldn’t say this is a masterpiece.
The friend group in the book was everything, their connections made me smile, and the book itself felt real to me. This book was my every thought when I wasn’t reading it. All I could think is, ‘what would happen next?’.
I rated this book 4 stars because I loved the feeling the book gave me, the characters development was great, the characters were everything to me, the characters were relatable, but the only flaw was the cringe I felt by the surprise pregnancy trope, and at time the plot.

Breathe You In is a fast paced insta attraction romance. Carsten and Winter meet one night when Winter and her bestie Emerald go to Black Velvet for line dancing. Carsten co owns the bar and spots her right away. It’s a insta attraction with two and wow. Carsten is a playboy, never keeping a girl around too long because relationships aren’t for him. But Winter makes him change his mind. Winter was an amazing character with so many layers, you just want to grab her, hug her and protect her. Carsten may have captured my heart as well, he proves his love to his “Snowflake” over and over. This book was so good, I can’t believe this is Christina’s first book! Creed, Emerald and Chase are such an amazing supporting characters too, I’d love to hear about them in the future.

This book was such a delicious story. I loved the fast pace that left me wanting more and more. The MFC, Winter, has such a history and a tough battle she is constantly going through which makes her so interesting. Enter the MMC, Carsten, he is a walking talking dream of a man. The Playboy turned obsessed lover who can not get enough of Winter. The relationship between these two is nothing short of spicy and sweet. I also loved all of the secondary characters in this book from Winters BFF to the circle of friends Carsten has, I can't wait to see if we get more from those characters! The book does dive into some heavy topics so please be sure to check the trigger warnings before reading, but I promise you little heathons this book is a top tier read!

✨ARC review, all thoughts and opinions are my own✨

3.5 stars (rounded to 4)

Breathing You In is the first book in a new series. The story overall was good, could have been refined some, and the spice was probably my favorite thing about this book. I liked seeing Winter and Carsten’s relationship grow over the course of the book and I loved his nickname for her as well. The story did deal with some hard topics and I think they were handled decently well.

There was an issue with this ARC originally with the file being corrupted so this is the second time I have read this book technically! There were still some editing errors and a whole chunk of a chapter that repeated but overall it was a decent read!

Thank you to the author for the advanced copy!
