A witch. A vampire. An immortal mistake.

As a witch, I have a healthy dislike for the undead. While they can turn a human, their venom kills those of us with power. At least that was true until I was attacked by a rogue and transitioned into a vampire.

Now the entire supernatural community wants answers, including the vampire overseer who had a surprising reaction to my unnatural rebirth. In addition to my sexy undead leader, I am assigned a death dealer mentor to investigate the reason I was targeted and protect my family.

When we discover there is a conspiracy at play, will I accept my new life or unleash an unholy monster that could destroy humanity?

A promising series starter

While I liked the book's premise, I found the dialogue to be stilted in most cases due to a lack of use of the contractions used in ordinary conversation. There are also enough partial sentences and issues with punctuation that distracted me and slowed down the reading.

Attention to such details would have improved enjoyment of an otherwise quite promising book.

A witch who turns was unheard of [...] A witch who developed magic after becoming a vampire. That was a fricking unicorn. I simply shouldn’t exist.
This should've been a great read! The premise, love it. The writing style, no so much.

For whatever reason, I'm not a fan of little to no contractions. It just doesn't feel natural. How many people, aside from androids, hold a normal convo without a contraction or two? Anyway, that's a me-thing. Then, there's the fact that we just don't get necessary info. Info needed to support what's happening. Please explain why a new vampire, told she'll have to wait until she can control herself around humans, blood, etc before she can see her family, is allowed (with an escort, but still) to go see her human boyfriend in a crowded restaurant? The head of the coven attacks Raven, claims a prophecy, but why? What prophecy? Raven's power was so low as to be ignored, yet she's suddenly incredibly powerful and somehow knows how to use it?

The relationship we're supposed to feel forming between Raven and Rene was pretty lack luster. And, while Raven's resistance to Rene's attempts to influence her initially appealed, her constant push back, at a time when she should be getting answers instead of proving how strong she is, became a bit annoying.

Maybe the story was just rushed? Maybe the other installments answer these questions that were just placed throughout to make us wonder and continue on? Maybe the relationship between these two becomes more believable? Maybe, maybe, maybe. Maybe I'll eventually return to the series, maybe I won't.

This is book one of the Magical Midlife Death series and the main character is Raven St Clare, a witch with seemingly very little magic, whose main use is helping plants to grow in the floristry shop she works in with her friend Deanna. Their shop Powerful Petals is in Black Blossom County, but she has little to do with the local coven or the coven leader Brigid, after being told how completely useless she is! Brigid even tries to tell her she better get this latest requested job done asap, considering all the support the coven has given her, which is a complete lie and makes her mad. Her daughter Jana is due to come round to the shop shortly and Deanna waits to get order for dinner until she arrives. Once Jana arrives and she is left alone with her mom, a vampire comes into the shop, which is a bit unexpected, as the shop is known to be witch owned. The vamp had followed Jana into the shop and is paying her a lot of attention and states she would make a stunning vampire! Not something Raven is very happy to hear, although her daughter is a bit more understanding of different cultures, especially since her father is a drag queen and owns a popular club. The vamp doesn’t like Raven’s comments about him not drinking her daughter and calling in the death dealers to deal with him, and he tells her that Cassara, a very well-known death dealer, won’t be around to see what happens. And it will start with Raven’s death! Raven tells her daughter to run and pushes her towards the back door.

The vamp moves faster than Raven can see and grabs her and starts ripping into her throat and gets his fangs into her neck. He tells her she was just part of a job and was selected because she was so weak and her death would start a war! A former war saw the lycans wiped out, so war is not something most races would consider! Humans have far too many weapons that could wipe out any opponent and would ally with the witches easier than with vampires. Her daughter had thankfully escaped his reach and she could allow the blackness to take her, expecting death as vampire venom was toxic to witches and can’t be turned. That is until her unusual awakening in the mortuary, which almost gives the mortician, Dr Derek Johnson, a heart attack! He has to notify the vampire and witch leaders, as well as the human delegate William Francis, since her turning must mean she was mundane rather than a witch, but that isn’t true at all. Raven was definitely a witch, even though her daughter was human, having been tested by the coven leader herself. The ancient vampire leader of the Shadow Bone clan is Rene Roth and comes with the local leader Dimitri, whilst the witch high priestess Ursula Kane has come with Brigid. Both leaders fight to have Raven come back with them, but the witches would rather see her dead or experimented upon, whilst Dimitri would love her dead as well. Rene is somewhat surprised that Raven doesn’t succumb to his orders and is able to talk back at him, which as a new vampire, she shouldn’t be able to!

Rene is the overseer of all the vampires in the country and has taken Raven under his protection, and made his lead death dealer, Cassara James to be her mentor and to ensure she is trained and kept safe, or more importantly that humans are safe from her! Everyone wants answers and the fact she was a witch and has been turned successfully, has made a unique problem for the rest of the covens, in case it could happen again. It never has, the witch always dies, and so what is different about Raven? There is a group of vampires out there trying to start a war and hers was only the first death they were to expect, except it hasn’t gone exactly as they wanted. There was to be a conclave meeting of all the leaders in the next day or so, but Raven’s transformation has brought it forward and Raven is asked to attend with Rene. She feels something is wrong and they will soon find out what High Priestess Ursula has planned and who she considers Raven to be, from a prophecy of the witches. Rene has been changed by meeting with Raven and Cassara is amazed at his reactions, something that is hard to even see, but she knows him well and he was on his way to being completely inhuman and needing to be ended, before he would kill without control, as happens to many that live really long lives. Something has shifter within Raven’s magic and attempts to attack her have led to some unexpected surprises. Those that start all of this, have not given up yet the fight and bring it to Rene and his clan, with weapons that can harm vampires and would probably kill Raven. The fight isn’t over and it is clear those heading the attack are not the ones who are behind this plot and they must figure out who is responsible, to be able to stop their plans! So much more to go and I can't wait to read the next book and find out what Raven, Rene and Cass get up to and how her powers expand and affect those around her. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Forever Forty is the first book in Didmon's new Magical Midlife Death series. The story centers around a witch named Raven St. Clare who lives in Black Blossom County. She owns a florist shop named Powerful Petals with her friend Deanna where she uses her magical abilities to help plants grow. She is not a powerful witch, so her coven doesn't have much use for her; she lives a quiet and happy life. She has a 20 year old daughter named Jana who did not inherit any of her mother's magical abilities. Jana is the product of a brief union between her and her delightfully colourful best friend, Isra Nasir.

One day, while Jana is visiting Raven at her shop, a man walks in claiming to want a bouquet for his mother. After some small chitchat, the man, a vampire, attacks Raven. Raven knows that vampire venom is toxic to witches but tries to use the little time she has left to allow her daughter to escape. Before she dies the vampire reveals that she was chosen because she is of little value in her community and they're hoping to start a war.

When Raven wakes up in the morgue, no one is more surprised than her! The mortician, Dr. Derek Johnson, tests her and confirms that she is now a vampire. She turned instead of dying, which is unprecedented. He promptly contacts Ursula Kane and Rene Roth, the leaders of the witches and vampires, respectively. Rene claims her as a new fledgling. He accepts responsibility for her since her sire is a rogue vampire who will need to be culled. He also assigns Cassara (Cass), the leader of the death dealers, and his last sire, as her mentor. Ursula thinks she is an abomination and wants her culled.

No one understands what has happened, which has everyone intrigued, including Rene who is ancient and perpetually bored. Raven is a mystery he wants to solve. She seems to be resistant to his direct commands, and takes every opportunity to talk back and challenge him.

Forever Forty is just the beginning of this adventure, and based on what I've read so far, it will be absolutely delightful. The characters are wonderfully charming and the banter is so very entertaining. I kept smiling and chuckling throughout the book. I loved it and I'm looking forward to the second book, Forty Proof and Dead, which is expected in less than a month!

There are plenty of humorous lines in this book so I thought I'd share one. "Any woman alive would be attracted to you. Right up until they discovered you have the personality of a lamppost."

My #NewToMeWord is covenstead. It is a coven's meeting place.

The Best Vampire Book I've read so Far

This started out like a witchy cozy, the lovely weaker plant-witch who had been a less than enthusiastic member of her local coven, because the High Priestess was negative and always critical of witches who weren't strong and provided seemingly unnecessary talents to fight off other paranormals As we settle down for a fun read, our lovely witch, Raven, in the flower shop Powerful Petals, built be her and her close friend and fellow witch Deeana, is being put down by one of the higher Council leaders for the High Priestess ordering a rare plant, almost impossible to find and difficult to grow for an event at the coven in just a couple of days. While ordering, she also reminded Raven that their dues were late. We see guess right away that this is going to be a conflict between witches. But Raven continues to manipulates plants in the shop.
She loved working with plants and helping them grow magically at accelerated rates from seed to full grown tree if needed or keeping flowers alive for weeks or more.
As the vicious witch finally left with an insult, she was steaming mad and didn't immediately notice that the good looking blonde man who entered her shop, seemingly following her beautiful 20 year old daughter was a vampire. He looked around for a while then brings his choice of red roses up to the counter, keeping his eyes on her daughter when all of a sudden, he attacked her daughter from across the room and Raven attacks him across the face with heavily thornner bushes that ripped his face and distracted him enough for her daughter run away. As soon as she is gone the rogue Vampire mercenary grabbed her in a twist and drained her killing her.
Then the story takes a weird turn as something totally impossible happens and the evil all around turned this into a horror story as the local power hungry Coven leader and her most powerful council witches started attacking the vampires, breaking all the rules at a the Peace Council between all paranormals and humans as they tried to kill the Head of the Vampire of this sector and his guard, Cassata, the death dealer, as she was an approved killer of those who went rogue in any groups and took them out
Naturally this attack wasn't just an attack on Vampires. It was planned to break the peace and eliminate the peace Council altogether. Ursula who craves complete power over all and wants to eliminate the vampires and the human SWAT like team who worked to keep peace.
It ends with the start of the first paranormal war in modern times.

Magical Malady and Empowered Empathy

Raven is a kind, mildly powered plant-focused witch who enjoys her ability to grow wonderful plants and offer them to their community in the shop, Powerful Petals, brought to existence by Raven and Deanna. Raven is also a coven member of other empowered witches, although her skills are not as honored. The coven and Raven's upbringing have provided an awareness for Raven to understand other empowered beings and, in some cases, perhaps be wary.

The coven High Priestess had ordered a rare plant and requested the availability to be almost impossible for Raven to achieve in such a short time frame, although Raven can grow plants much faster and can keep them vibrant for longer. While Raven is working on the plants, a gentleman enters the shop with what appears to be eyes for Raven's daughter and unbeknownst to those within, this gentleman is a vampire.

This gentleman then makes a move which endangers the shop's residents, forcing Raven to enact defenses and distracted this vampire enough, so almost everyone stays safe, or do they? Upon this vampire leaving, there appears to be another, perhaps a rogue, that decides to retaliate and puts Raven in danger.

Normally, there are no successful hybrids between a witch and vampire and with Raven, she may have become the first.

This leads into the story of Raven understanding what she has become, who her friends may be and where life takes her daughter, her shop and her empowerment. Raven may also be introduced to her mate, and powerful leader of the vampires, Rene. Much more to come with the coven, the vampires, the council and the peace that was in place between the empowered and not empowered.

Probably one of the best series written, with so many new and interesting ideals introduced!

Spice 🌶️/5

Raven is a middle aged witch with low level magic which gives her a low place in society. This doesn't bother her and she happily runs a business with her best friend, lives with her adult daughter and hangs out with her drag queen ex and father of her daughter. Raven is spunky, doesn't take sh*t from anyone, is determined and loves her friends and family.

A witch turning into a vampire should be impossible. When Raven is turned all three factions, witches, humans and vampires take interest. She winds up under the care of Rene, the ancient vampires leader and Cassara, head of the Death Dealers. For a witch, being a vampire is s fate worse than death but Raven quickly adapts.

Unlike everyone else, Raven doesn't blindly obey Rene. She asks questions and doesn't appreciate the status quo. For the first time in 1,000 years, Rene is intrigued by something. He works to help Raven discover who turned her and why.

The chemistry between Rene and Raven is palpable but it seems rushed to me. I do think I will continue the series.

***Slight Spoilers***

I thought the book was too fast paced. The book takes place in the span of about three days. Rene went from an emotionless ice man to passionate and possessive within two days? Everyone goes from telling Raven it will be awhile before she can safely see her family to going on a date and attending a crowded club the second day she's a vampire? Come on.

***End of Spoilers***.

Author Tia Didmon starts us right off on an exciting and perilous journey from the first chapter - a quick introduction to Raven, a low level witch, and her inner circle of family and friends, and we're plunged into a perilous new chapter in her life!

Filled with interesting, colorful characters, the story quickly enfolds to her new reality of life (or death) within a nest of vampires, and growing hostilities within the paranormal realm... Cassara and Rene are introduced as her guides to dealing with these changes in her life, and Didmon sets the stage for the rest of the series.

The characters quickly become compelling figures, and we want to learn more about the backstories of each character... there's so much more to learn about Raven! How will she deal with all of these changes in her life, and can she hold onto her family and friends? Will Cassara teach her the skills she needs to learn, and how will her relationship with Rene unfold? I'm hooked and want to learn more...

If you like to read paranormal stories featuring strong, female leads over forty... this is a great series to check out. Eagerly moving on to the next story in the series... I definitely enjoyed this quick read!.

Raven and Deanna are witches that run Powerful Petals, a specialty flower shop. The coven wants star canyon done up for a ritual asap and they are extremely rare. Raven doesn’t have much power wise for a witch, but at the full moon, she can make things grow quickly from seeds and that is what she is going to do, as they need the money to pay their taxes to the coven. Raven has a daughter, Jana, who is human; with her best friend who is a drag queen, by the name of Isra. Raven is dating one of the human Paranormal ops dudes, by the name of Cameron. Most of the witches look down on Raven, especially since she has a non powered daughter and the same for the daughter’s father. This was a great start to a new series. I really loved it. I spent a lot of time gasping, giggling and chewing on my nails. There is a reason the sub title is Rise of the Blood Witch. Let’s just say that there is a subdivision of each grouping that is not what they seem and they want to change the status quo, and Raven was chosen to be the first casualty, but it didn’t go to their plan. There are a lot of shocking reveals and revelations in the book. I can’t wait to read the next book. Isra and Jana are riots and I fell in love with the vamps and the humans and Raven.

Oh, this series is going to be so good! Raven is a witch with limited powers who owns a flower shop. A vampire comes in under the pretense of buying a bouquet and attacks her daughter. She gets him to release Jana, but he ends up draining her instead. Raven wakes up at the morgue, not sure what is happening. She knows the vampire killed her - a vampire bite always kills a witch - so why is she still alive, but immobile?

Raven ends up claimed by the vampire overseer and is taken off to the Shadow Bone Clan's mansion to be trained. Unfortunately, the head of her coven wants her dead and there is something sinister behind her vampire attack. Someone is trying to start a war. Also, Raven now has powers she never had before and apparently, Rene (the overseer) has taken an unusual interest in her. Life as a vamp is going to suck. Why couldn't she have lost that last ten pounds first?

Lots of snark in this one. Can't wait to find out what happens next. I hate cliffhangers.... I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Truly deeply awful series

Perfectly wonderful story ruined by the author. Book 1: the women are strong and independent. Cass is a badass. Raven is relatively strong and retains her sense of self. This started to decline after book 3. Cass gets more and more ineffectual and Raven becomes a prop for a ‘paranormal WOMEN’s fiction” story that is, in truth about Rene the man. Even when Raven is attacked: the scene is about the man and his temper. And then in book six: Cass’ position is usurped by a man. And Raven becomes a ‘queen’ with zero power, autonomy or authority. And now on this book Cass is treated like an incompetent teenager and constantly being reprimanded. Women’s fiction this is absolutely not. I started skimming hard in book 4 because I am interested in this war and the overarching plot. But the overbearing misogyny of the author has made it impossible to continue. The women are either seamstresses, and baublemakers, corrupt power hungry villains, or props used for male ambition. It’s frankly appalling.

Vampire bites are supposed to be fatal to witches, so why our heroine is still alive it quite the mystery. Of course, that is not nearly as important as why she was bitten in the first place and what she is going to do about it. Lots of questions, very few answers.

This is book one of the series, so a fine place to start.

This is a paranormal romance story with witches, vampires, shifters and the whole lot. The story is well written and easy to read with a plot that nonetheless has a lot going on. The setting is well developed and quite intriguing, and I continue to enjoy seeing new elements of it. The characters are equally well done. I like our heroine as she is tough and smart, just the way I like them. Add in a plot with plenty of mystery and intrigue and, of course, magic. Overall, this was an excellent start to the series and I look forward to seeing what comes next.

Highly recommended.

Good

As a witch, Raven should have died when she was attacked by a vampire, instead she finds herself one of them- and not everyone is happy about it…

This is the start of a new paranormal midlife adventure- and it’s a good one. We find ourselves in a new world with some intriguing premises. The paranormal factions are not nearly as tamed in this book as they are in some, and it’s amusing watching Raven trying to deal with her inherent witch bias as she transitions to vampire.
It’s a fairly fast paced tale, with a small hint of a slow burn romance, and a bit of an enemy to lover trope. The overarching background story is an interesting one, and the characters are likeable. I especially enjoyed the fact that there is not an ex-relationship drama between Raven and the father of her daughter- it was a refreshing change.
An entertaining read, this one will be enjoyed by paranormal women’s fiction fans, and paranormal/urban fantasy fans.

Tia Didmon's "Forever Forty" is an engrossing and captivating book that will keep you up all night! This Paranormal Women's Fiction book deftly combines vampires, magic, and mystery to create an engrossingly detailed universe that readers will find hard to put down. The way in which Raven transitions from a witch to a vampire is masterfully done, and the swings and turns she takes to find out why she attacked are sure to leave you wondering. The mentor, a death dealer, and the attractive vampire overseer are two well-developed supporting characters that give the narrative a tantalizing twist of suspense and mystery.
This novel stands out for its distinctive fusion of romance, humor, and suspense, it's a really captivating read. You will adore this series if you enjoy Shannon Mayer, K.F. Breene, or Victoria Danann! I would definitely recommend this book and the rest in series.

Unique Awesomeness

This is an incredible Vampire book. The world building is unique and complete, the plot complex enough to satisfy without twisting your brain into knots, and each person is realistic and interesting, even the hateful ones.

While the larger story is not completed here, Forever Forty does not end on a cliffhanger. Certain things are resolved and what the main people learn creates an effective end point for this book, this Act I, so to speak. The curtain has fallen, for now.

The brief preview of the next book has a great line: "If the fangs fit." The humor and snark throughout this well written and well edited book are spot on.

It is a clean read with sexual references but no action. There is violence--battling in self defense--with a few details. This is not a horror novel, nor suspense. It's simply different people and factions wanting power for themselves.

Huge thanks to Writer Tia Didmon for this book. Book two awaits!

Happy reading!

I was on a bit of a slump in this genre, when I picked up this book to listen to. I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to do the book justice and give it a chance. The premise was interesting so I gave it a couple minutes.

I was very quickly won over by the banter, creative side characters and the tease of mystery at every turn (but not in a cozy mystery sort of way). I’m kind of dying to find out everything but also hoping not to find out too soon…

The narrator I thought did an excellent job. There are a lot of fun characters and some of them could be over the top or even annoying. Let’s face it a main character that mainly speaks in monotone could easily be hard on the ears but she hit it right.

I can’t wait for the next book! Thanks for getting me out of my slump!.

So good! Raven, the FMC, is a witch with minimal magic. She’s looked down upon by her coven for only having a little skill with plants. She gets killed by a vampire and becomes the first witch to not only survive, but becomes the first vampire witch (blood witch). The sexy two thousand year old vampire overseer takes her under his wing and we see the beginning of a slow burn romance. No spice, but I’m hopeful by book 2 or 3. Raven is a strong FMC, especially after she dies and becomes a vampire witch. Add in the hot vampire overseer Rene, the kick ass death dealer Cass, plus Raven’s daughter, baby daddy and current boyfriend things are bound to get interesting. Plus there’s a prophesy. Cannot wait to read the next book!.

That was a great start to a new series! Raven is a witch in a coven that treat her as a weak link. Raven and her daughter are attacked by a rogue Vampire. Witches die in these attacks, but Raven has survived only thing is she has turned. Treated as an abomination by her Coven, the Vampire overseer claims her as his fledgling. Rene has lived a long time and has lost interest in life. That is until Raven has come into the Clan, she intrigues him. Looks like she is more special than people believed he to be. Captivating read, great storyline, and the perfect mix of paranormal drama! I'm looking forward to seeing the progression of this series!.

Tia has done it again. This series will be excellent. I love the world building. I can picture a world of humans, witches and vampires.
I love Raven. Even against all odds she still remains herself. What she goes through is not for the faint of heart. I love her personality, her sass and gumption.
The there is Rene, the oldest creature known. I love how he slowly transforms . Of course there is the leader to the death squad, Cass. She is a hoot. I love her version of things and how she puts Rene's ego in its place.
Lots of smiles, action and a smidge of romance. Not because Rene isn't trying. The mystery is revealed and will continue in the books to follow.

Excellent New Series The author has done it again—her new series will be one that you won’t want to miss. This book is the interesting tale of a witch who miraculously transitions into a vampire instead of perishing when she is maliciously attacked while defending her daughter. The sometimes-hilarious action keeps the story moving along quite nicely. There’s the added bonus of a fledgling romance budding between this newly vampiric witch and an ancient vampire overseer who is intrigued by her that also keeps you turning the pages to see where this unexpected romance will lead. All-in-all, I highly recommend this book to all paranormal romance lovers. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Raven is a 40 year old witch, her coven treats her with contempt as her magic is weak and unimportant. Her daughter Jana and Isra Nasir dearest friend and Jana’s dad are Ravens world. A vampire enters Ravens shop and drains Raven. She wakes on table in morgue. Ravens life will never be the same she’s a vampire, that should be impossible. Now she must learn how to live as a vampire, she’s claimed by Rene as his fledgling. He will train and protect her, while all the witches try to kill Raven and Rene repeatedly. Rouge vampires want them dead and rouge humans want to play two. Life has definitely become very interesting.

Vampire drama mystery

Vampire drama mystery with a dash of comedy. Vamyster-dramedy has it all really! FMC is a sarcastic stubborn intelligent human with a dash of witch then transforms into a new vampire that is learning to navigate her new world, meets an ancient powerful vamp king of the clans that claims her, finds a vamp BFF and is quickly betrayed by her former coven. The world development is well done, lots of double agents and hidden goals along with a dramatic willingness to kill to achieve their version of world order. Am interesting read. 5* storyline hook line and sinker - can't wait to see what happens next. So far characters are solid 4* - a bit one dimensional after the first book, hoping everyone will find some personality beyond their shallow single lanes. Slow burn, hints at possible intimacy as the story continues.

I absolutely loved this book I could not put it down. The characters were witty and fun with exciting backstories that unfold naturally. The book had great flow and I immensely enjoyed the story concept. 40-year-old MC with lots of attitude and a great sense of humor. My only complaint is that the book ended and I must wait until December with bated breath for more. Hands down is going on my most recommend list 10/10 would read it again. Raven is a low level witch and the least favorite of her coven. She owns a flower shop business with her friend. One day a vampire follows her daughter into the shop. When he goes to attack her Rene intervenes. She is sucked dry. When she comes to she's in the morgue. When the mortician sees her alive he calls the local vampire clan and the witch's coven. From this point on Raven's life can be measured in days if she's lucky. It seems everyone wants to kill her as well as the vampire clan leader Rene. Threats abound!
A fascinating and thrilling read!!.

Gleeful Goblin Review: I picked this story up because I've read and listened to other work by this same author and I thought that the concept of how being one type of supernatural (witch) made it impossible to be turned into another supernatural (vampire). And I'm stoked I did! The story is told single POV and I thought the narrator did a great job of bringing characters to vivid life. The conflict between the different factions of the supernaturals was really interesting and fun to see unfold. I'm stoked for the next book! 5/5 Stars.

40 yr old witch with nominal power has a decent life with her business she runs with her bestie, daughter who is the love of her life, and a bestfriend/baby daddy she will always love but can never be with (it's not that stressful, I promise). Then in a freak attack, the impossible happens (a witch is turned into a vampire!) and now both factions of supernaturals are after her. The only one providing shelter (and actually able to provide it) is the leader of all vampires named Rene and the kickass Death Dealer named Cass.

I think all of these in the series are a little short so they're easy to read and addictive like potato chips. You can't read just one!

Ugh. Kill Me Now

MagicalMidlife1

Raven St Clare is a witch - a hedge witch with major plant skills, but lacking the power to advance in her local coven. The disrespect was rampant, so much so that she was targeted for death by vampire. Vampire venom is toxic to witches, and he was also gunning for her mundane daughter.

But, Raven was turned, not killed, and that starts a whole different ballgame. Now, her local coven is trying to take her out, and the vampire Overseer has claimed her as his fledgling, Raven can do defensive magic, and people are losing their effing minds.

This is book 1 in the Magical Midlife Death series and was a great way to start. Raven a witch is murdered by a vampire and wakes as a vampire. No witch before her has ever survived a vampire attack. Rene the leader of the vampires saves her and claims her as one of his vampires. Now Raven must deal with her former coven that want to killer her claiming she is a blood witch and survive her vampire clan members. This story is full of suspense, action, adventure and Raven learning to deal with her new undead life.

This story consumed me whole.
The twists of her being turned, who, how, why.
Then Rene, he's just a complete enigma in himself.
I adore the way she can annoy him back to life.
And Cass is just a blast.
But Raven, she's something that never should of happened and she's determined not to go down without a fight.
Her daughter is sweet, and her daughters father delightful.
Hated when it got to the end.
In desperate need to see what happens next....
