Double the trouble is what you find in this wonderful women’s fiction story and contemporary romance. With two sets of identical twins what could go wrong? Jennifer Raines unique stories come to life with original and refreshing storylines.
This is Kate and Liam's compelling emotional journey. Secrets and lies hurt and these two are no strangers. The couple faces various challenges that they must overcome to be together as they learn to trust again and slowly begin to heal. Although Kate is living a double life research assistant by day, sexy romance author by night.
Masquerade has a bit of everything from fear and angst, passion and compassion, love and loyalty and some humour and more will keep you glued to the pages.
Jennifer gives just the right balance of humour and heart in this heartwarming tale of friendship, family, love and healing. Although I have read a few of her books I look forward to reding even more.

I really enjoy treating myself to a good read and having read a few of Jennifer’s books I knew I was in for a treat 😉
Liam needs to land a project that requires confidentiality that’s next level and he’s desperate to get this de because the money he makes from it will save his mom’s home but there’s a few things counting against him like him getting burnt by his ex that was a spy for the mining industry and that doesn’t bode well for an environmental lawyer 🙈anyhoo he’s got to be really careful in his choice of assistant but get this he has a twin as does his new assistant …. Let the games begin 🤷♀️🤣🙈
Kate is a romance author but her dad despised her writing which is sad because he’s supposed to be her #1 supporter and her ex belittled her then stalked her , jeez talk about about being confused 😕
So Kate becomes Liam’s assistant and they go a road trip and soon enough their relationship goes to the next level but both are a little jaded when it comes to romance thanks to their awful exes and I feel sorry for them but they do have chemistry and they’re sooooooo attracted to each other and it was a treat to be part of their journey and there were times I just wanted to climb into the story and shake them , rattle their brains and then leave to their own devices 🤣🥰
Kate and Liam , I love you guys ! You made me laugh , cry and feel moments of frustration and you were a great escape for me ❤️

Having read a few books by this author before, I immediately grabbed this one when I came across it. This is marvelous as the first book in the Choosing Family series. The author weaves a delightful tapestry of romance, identity, and the complexities of family. We get to know Liam and Kate who both have their own secrets and find themselves working together in a professional setting. The author expertly crafts a narrative that combines humor with heartfelt moments.
The chemistry between Kate and Liam ignites a spark that is both steamy and authentic. The tension and attraction are captured beautifully, crafting a romance that feels earned rather than forced. Kate is leading a double life but a road trip with Liam changes everything. Masquerade is a heartwarming romance featuring two sets of twins, a road trip, and unexpected romance. The premise is unique and had my fingers racing as I read. I stayed up late reading Masquerade and it truly is an unputdownable romance.
Let’s start with the romance. This book is a mash-up of a few tropes but has a comedic vibe throughout. The characters are hiding parts of their lives plus being a part of twins. This leads to all sorts of hilarious situations. The romance is beautifully written with heartfelt emotional tension. I truly enjoyed this romantic journey.
The characters are delightful. I loved the fact that both Liam and Kate are twins, just not to each other. Each character is well-written with their own backstory and personality. Liam is as strait-laced as they come while Kate is anything but.
The descriptive narration is flawless and allows the reader a deep dive into the story.
The dialogue is filled with emotion, humor, and tension. Jennifer Raines’ true gift lies in her dialogue. I didn’t want to stop reading. I liked it that much.

Liam has a lot riding on the success of his next ‘project’, so it’s crucial that nothing goes wrong….. except that he has an identical twin brother who is making things difficult with his high-profile media presence. Add in past failures, and family drama, and Liam might just have bitten off more than he can chew.
Kate has problems of her own to deal with. She takes a job as his research assistant as a ‘cover’ for her other ‘occupation’- as romance author. But her meddling twin may have coaxed her into an even more complicated situation. What happens when secrets are revealed? This is well worth the read to find out.

Broken trust and lack of communication can go a long way to making it difficult to find love. This story takes us through Kate and Liam's journey to overcome their broken trust, and to learn to communicate and open themselves to friendship, family and healing.
I loved Kate's relationship with her sister, Anna. And I am glad that Liam reconnected with his brother, Niall, and stopped hiding their father's secrets. Family is truly important.

Liam and Kate are both identical twins and this their story. Kate is ms dowdy, ms billboard model and Ms sexy secret romance author. Liam is Mr suit - a work driven environmental lawyer. This novel contains just the right mix of the antics of twin swapping, environmental law, modelling, trust, awesome sex, misunderstandings, did I mention awesome sex, betrayal and love…. And of course the ultimate happy ending.

This was a cute fun story. Kate and Liam. There is a lot going on. Tons of secrets and both characters are hiding and protecting themselves. Which makes the relationship even more complicated. There really isn’t a dull moment in this story at all. This book was steamy, good hearted and a great rom com.
