4 I didn’t see that coming Stars

Yes, there is no other way to describe how this one started. This series is crazy, and I was just along for the ride. Sam, Mo, whoever you are today...

I hate to say what happens next or even in the beginning, because I would like you to share in my shock and confusion.

I did find parts of it to be predictable, and the ending was a little too unbelievable to me but in the end I really liked it. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Book 1 Killing Matt Cooper: 4 Glad to know you Sam Stars!!
Book 2 Killing Sam Knight: 5 I want more of Sam Stars!!

As the blurb clearly states, book 1 was about "A FEMA crisis manager by day and serial killer by night becomes romantically involved with the FBI unit chief hunting him down. Will she learn his dark secret?" so I won't go on about what the book is about and the characters, you need to read the book.

Book 1 was an enjoyable short read, it sets up nicely the path we undertake to get to know Sam, a serial killer with a twist. Told in first person's POV, Sam's mind seemed a mass of contradiction at first. There is something utterly fascinating about exploring a sociopath's mind, Sam didn't disappoint. The book had some cringe-worthy moments, graphic scenes, the usual 'the whole world is to blame' and scenes that went beyond cringe-worthy and were just utterly disturbing- This book made me laugh, flinch at some scenes and left me stunned at others.

I was loath to admit that I totally fell in love with a fictional serial killer then I read all the other ladies' reviews and was happy to know I am not alone. I LOVE SAM KNIGHT and I felt sorry for him at certain points. The ending left me wanting more and I quickly started book 2.
Killing Matt Cooper was gifted by the author in exchange for an honest opinion, THANK YOU.

NOW TO BOOK 2 AND IT WAS AMAZING. I enjoyed being in Sam's mind before but in this I LOVED the crazy ride. We delve more into what makes him tick, his inner struggles, thoughts and everyday dilemmas had me laughing and worrying about him (don't judge me, couldn't help it)

The first page was a shocker. I have to say starting this, I didn't trust Kathleen's motives and her heaving bosom where Sam is concerned- Was she misleading our boy to catch him in the act or was she genuine?.I loved the irony of these two investigating another serial killer together.

Killing Sam Knight was a page turner, utterly fascinating and twisted. 'Sam's thoughts were normal human thoughts and fears, you just have to add to it the 'serial killing element'.

In this book, we find Sam struggling with being his own serial killer and trying to please Kathleen, very willing to compromise to make her happy. Loved how he remained true and true to her despite everything~~~ Now that's true commitment there.

My Favorite quote:
I hated copycat killers. They were so…unoriginal. Couldn’t they think up their own methods of killing? Couldn’t they kill for their own reasons, rather than to try and get the attention of another killer?
I Hear you, Copycat killers are the worst.

While book 1 left me wanting more, book 2 left me craving more of this fascinating series.

I really enjoyed the BR with some of the funniest ladies I know, Bev, Ashlee, Vera, Shannie, Sophia, ~*~Princess Nhya~*~ and Valerie. Not to forget Jahy. THANK YOU LADIES.

Book 2 of the Knight Chronicles
From the start, you shocked me Mr Cassian.

 photo PicsArt_10-16-07.17.23_zpsczpiezjz.jpg

Kathleen and Sam really are perfect and meant to be. I had my doubts of Kathleen have an alterior motive.

This duo is awesone together. Both with hidden darkness that the other feeds so well.

"I was just drawn to you. The way you take control, it excited me, because I like being in control like that. I felt almost.....thirsty for that kind of control."

Not only does there darkness complete each other, it makes for some hot and kinky sex. I have never read a sex scene quite so crazy but hot as hell at the same time.

As their love grows and creates a new love, their lives are rocked by an outside force. This person wants one thing from Sam.....pure love's kiss. When Sam can't give her what she wants....hell is about to break loose.

 photo PicsArt_10-16-07.05.08_zpscjsksmci.jpg

Everything Sam knows and loves is shattered. His identity is shattered and his life is about to take on a whole new existance.

This ending........well.....

Okay.. I have no idea what I just read. But in this twisted web of mind f*ckery, I found myself beyond shocked, grossed out, laughing my butt off and realizing that my heart was actually kind of melting for Mo How did this happen? The guy is sick beyond sick, and don't even get me started on Kathleen WTH is wrong with her?

Still, I can't deny that it was a strange & exhilarating thing to be stuck in Mo's head again.

Yet here I sit. Totally confused, more than a little disturbed. I have to know what happens next. That ending?! Come on John! How could you do this to me?!

This book was an excellent follow up from book 1, "Killing Matt Cooper"

If you're in the mood for dark and decadent, sinister, frightening and madness x's infinity, then I would highly recommend that you start with this series. Please start at the beginning.

After reading book 1and book 2 i can honestly say..HOLY SHIT that was a crazy fucked up exciting ride...!

Being in a serial killer's head, seeing how his mind works and how he views everything around him so differently is so fucked up and thrilling!!

How will you react if you discovered that the person you've been chatting with and having him smiling in your face everyday is a serial killer with a disturbing thoughts towards you every time he's talking to you?! And i'm not talking about tearing your clothes off and have his way with you...oh well,on second thought maybe that's exactly what he wants to do but with a whole new meaning and purpose on mind!

for all who want something different than the usual, strange in a twisted dark way just go ahead and read this!

Oh,One thing i'm gonna say about what happened at the end "this has turned out to be waaaaaay fucked up than i've thought" and "poor baby...:(".

All in all,I really enjoyed this series so far it was twisted, different, thriller and suspenseful!
And it was brilliantly written!

The second book is better than the last. The first page is a big wtf and it just keeps going. Sam's inner dialogue is funny and sweet. He has become a person to me and not just a serial killer. In book two he has another killer after him and is freaked out by how crazy they are. That alone had me laughing. Hello!!! You kill people but are scared?!? Kathleen his love interest and FBI agent is back. Talk about a head scratcher. The end of this book has me wishing for the next installment which is not out. When it is I am one clicking that bad boy as fast as I can.

Cassian's protagonist is more of a real human being than the pantomime wicked uncle known as Hannibal Lecter. There is comprehensible development, with the continuing existential question about the possibility of change and achieving happiness in the midst of carnage and personality disorder. More to the point for many readers, his travels continue where Lecter's stop, with sex, blood and serial killers littering the landscape. Horrible but quite a read.

Crazy returns!! And he’s got his own serial killer stalker!!

In this book, Samuel Knight, just one of Mo’s secret identities continues his relationship with the FBI’s Special Agent in Charge Kathleen- while agreeing to show her how he kills- the two of them becoming partners in love and crime. Things were going just fine until their first job they do together gets up and walks away! And then, to make matters worse, Kathleen and his FEMA alter are investigating Tornado Ali, a female serial killer whose victims are piling up and who seems a little too focused on Samuel Knights killer identity, the Greek Death. 💀

This book was crazier than the last, although there are less bodies adding up for Samuel as he and Kathleen’s relationship progresses. We still get an inside view to his thought process and past.

I found myself laughing out loud after reading this next entry:

“Killing’s killing, right?” “It is, but… You know what? Yes, it is.” I sat up straight. Murder solves everything. I remember reading that on a bumper sticker once. And it couldn’t have been more correct. A bit of the old murder is exactly what I needed to get myself out of my paranoid funk; to get myself out of my head; to clear my thoughts so that I could focus on Kathleen .....(cut out a spoiler).

He talks about murder like it’s an everyday thing like getting a a hobby or grocery shopping. Something to bring him out of his melancholy moods. He literally gets giddy for killing like one might get excited to go on a vacation or something fun. Now that’s dedication to the crazy!!

I also forgot to mention that one of the alter egos is none other than the author himself, described as his long haired hippy alter. Makes me wonder..... hehehe.

I gotta read what’s next!!!

I received a free download of "Killing Sam Knight" from the Knight Chronicles by John Cassian, in exchange for an honest review. This is a follow up of Book #1 "Killing Matt Cooper", and should be read in order to get an appreciation of the mindset of the serial killer.

In this continuation of book #1, we find the return of Kathleen Underwood, a hot FBI agent, a criminologist who was the Unit Chief of the Behavioral Analysis Group of the FBI. Now Sam Knight's world had changed and now he had a partner in bed and a partner in crime and her name was Kathleen. Kathleen had already figured out that Sam was a serial killer, and she told him, "I want you to teach me to Kill."

Sam was in love again, and had not felt these emotions since Jessie Cooper, the love of his life, the first woman he had raped and killed in Seattle in 2007.

But how would Kathleen participate? In what role? A lot of details to work out.

Kathleen called Sam to assist her with a serial killer investigation in Oklahoma City. Sam worked for FEMA as a crisis manager. It involved travelling all over the country, and putting the fires out. It didn't allow for close relationships, which was the perfect job for him.

Both Sam and Kathleen had composed a list of victims to be targeted in the area, and they chose Mandy Oppenheimer, who lived close to Kathleen's hotel. But then things go terribly wrong, and the hunters become hunted, and they are stalked and chased by a killer...and she knew a lot about him. "I am going to kill Matt Cooper for You." She was taunting them! What kind of a game was she playing?

The ending was amazing and a shock! I feel that I was watching an episode of CSI, but from the serial killer's perspective.

Killing Sam Knight by John Cassian is another triumph for him. He has managed to intertwine romance and murder along with eroticism to create a book that keeps you into it from the beginning.
Samuel H Knight met Supervisory Special Agent Kathleen Underwood of the FBI when she was investigating serial murders in Galveston. She knows who and what he really is and loves him for it. Now she wants him to teach her to kill like he does. Kathleen is investigating the murders of Tornado Ali. Tornado Ali kills her victims and keeps their bodies until a tornado hits and then she puts them out. Her signature is flayed skin on half their bodies. When a huge tornado hits Jewelville, Oklahoma she has Samuel called to the scene in his role as FEMA so they can work together. Their victim, Mandy Oppenheimer, seems to be perfect; but as they attempt to kill her, things begin going wrong and she gets away. As they search for Mandy, they find much more than they bargained for. What does Mandy have to do with Tornado Ali?
Part of the fascination with this particular book is it is based around Oklahoma City and tornado alley where I live. The descriptions of the damage line up with the damage done by tornados in Moore, Oklahoma, except for the bodies of course. The additional use of real places like Tuttle and the Oklahoma City Police Department simply add to the reality of the story. I can’t wait to see what John has in his pen next

I wasn't going to submit a review for this novel, but after pondering about it for a couple of days I realized I should because I'm still baffled by it.

Let me start off saying that book 2, "Killing Sam Knight" was way better than book 1, "Killing Matt Cooper." So why did I give it the same three-star rating? Bear with me as I hope this makes sense. Without spoiling anything for you, it seems that after book 1 ended and before book 2 started, a whole hell-of-a-lot took place, and I mean a lot. I cannot fathom why the author chose not to include this subplot as it's such an I important factor, plus it would have made for an amazing read, perhaps even a five-star rating from me. Instead, I'm reading chapter 1 of "Killing Sam Knight" and I'm thinking "When the hell did all this happen?" I was floored just to see how far the characters had come since ending book 1. I kept checking the internet to see if I somehow missed another book by this author. (Found none of course.)It's too bad the author didn't include the missing subplot as it really would've made the novel even more intriguing than it already was; not to mention it would've made for a longer novel instead of just the 88 pages we're given.

THIS FOLLOW UP OF BK#1 "KILLING MATT COOPER" WAS A DOOZEY AND A SHOCKER. THEY NEED TO BE READ IN ORDER TO FULLY UNDERSTAND THE PERSON THIS BOOK IS ABOUT. I FELT WEIRD BY MY REACTION TO THE FIRST BOOK, MY FEELINGS FOR THIS SERIAL KILLER AFTER THIS 2ND BOOK. . . . HARD TO DESCRIBE. TO HUMANIZE SOMETHING THAT'S INHUMAN IS UNBELIEVABLE BUT THE AUTHOR HAS SOME HOW DONE IT. I AM STILL AMAZED BY MAURICE AND I KNOW I SHOULDN'T BE, I SHOULD HATE HIM AND I JUST DON'T. SHAME ON ME? NOT! THIS HAD SO MANY THINGS I JUST DIDN'T EXPECT IN IT, I CAN'T IMAGE HOW THIS WILL END. SINCE EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED FOR HIM, I DON'T KNOW WHERE THIS IS HEADED OR HOW THIS WILL END. ONE THING, I'M SURE GOING TO FIND OUT. I'M ALMOST AFRAID OF HOW THIS WILL END SINCE MAURICE IS NOLONGER ALONE. (insert organ music here)DUN-DA-DUHHHHHH!!! ;D

Excellent read! I was unable to put this book down. I enjoyed the first book in this serial killer series (Killing Matt Cooper) and was delighted to read Killing Sam Knight. John Cassian beautifully captures the essence of perverted, sick-minded psychopaths, and makes it erotic throughout this read. The main character develops more during this second book, becomes more human, more personable. The first book explored a serial killer. The second book goes deeper to reveal not only an entertaining, sick story, but the characters unfold and have more personality. The reader sees what makes his serial killer tick, what his thought processes are, how he reasons, why he does what he does, and how he is subject to influence and change. If you are into dark plots and aren't sensitive about rape/murder fantasy, I highly recommend.

Damn, John, you stinker! (LOL) This book was even better than the first in the series, Killing Matt Cooper. OMG, my jaw dropped at the ending!! I cannot wait to read the third book in the series.

Wow, my favorite serial killer was at it again, but this time, he had a little help along the way, or was that help? Sam Knight finds himself in quite a quandary this time, but will he be able to make it out? Hmmm, only time will tell. This was an outstanding read--with all its gore, blood, guts and mystery. YOU will never believe the ending. John fooled me this time. Job well done! Can't wait for three to come out!

At the start of this book there is a big jump in Sam’s and Kathleen’s relationship, it quite surprised me.
These are very fast paced books which I love, nothing worse than books that drag on.
It didn’t end like I was expecting, more shocks and surprises.
Off now to read the next and final instalment to this series 😀

After reading Killing Matt Cooper and knowing how messed up it was, I knew what I was getting myself into when I started to read Killing Sam Knight. This book wasn't just a continuation of the same story though. It was still very dark, but it had a slightly different feel to it. Now that FBI agent, Kathleen Underwood, wants him to teach her how to kill, he is no longer a lone wolf. And her motives for wanting to kill with him aren't exactly what he had in mind. But he loves her, and somehow, the romance between them felt very genuine. Who would ever think a serial killer like him could ever really fall in love? He has such a warped sense of love considering he feels he is delivering pure love's kiss to the women he kills. And he raped and murdered the first love of his life. How many people would call that true love? Not too many, I hope.

And when a vicious serial killer began to hunt them, I unwittingly found myself rooting for Sam Knight. I would have to keep reminding myself that this guy is seriously screwed up, and it wouldn't be a bad thing if he were killed. However, I was hoping he could stop this other killer, who did not fit the typical profile and who had an incredibly twisted M.O.

And what to think of Kathleen? A woman who is supposed to be stopping crimes, who is now instead, sleeping with a man whom she knows is a killer. And she wants to work with him. But without giving anything anyway, her intentions are not the same as Knight's, so she wasn't as horrible as one might think. She still doesn't deserve an award for FBI agent of the year, however!

John Cassian is an excellent writer, and this atrocious, yet addicting story, kept me engrossed in it the whole way through. When I first started reading it, I only had time to read the first couple of pages, but once I had more time, I ended up finishing it within a day. I didn't want to put it down. I was also glad that I learned more about Sam Knight's past in this book.

If you enjoyed Killing Matt Cooper, then you won't be disappointed by this one. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

The second and follow-on story and a serial killer who knows he is not normal and doesn't justify his behaviour but takes delight in seeing the results of violent death and kills to reconnect with his lost love. The insights do act as an apology for mass murder but by viewing crimes through the eyes of a psychopath the author is able to challenge the reader's own motives for being a voyeur in such narratives. In this instalment we find the FBI agent besotted with her previous most wanted person and through their love they form an interesting alliance. She wants him to show her how to kill and has a desire that he perhaps would enable her to take the law into her own hands and eliminate those the FBI cannot get enough on to prosecute. Cassian throws interesting points in throughout the short story making the reader constantly evaluate the minds of these dark characters. 'I couldn't kill as I thought I'd see the evil in them' or 'I only kill women' and 'I am not able to kill you as you're not my type'.
This account introduces another serial killer Tornado Ali someone Sam looks up to and the FBI are investigating. There is scope for Sam as a FEMA crisis manager and Kathleen the lead FBI officer to work together and carry-on their passionate affair. In trying to capture Tornado Ali they learn that they are perhaps not the hunters but the hunted. Clever plot and the idea of social media groups craving the attention of the serial killer and the things some people will do to get noticed shows that John Cassian is a clever author who has something valid to say and throws light where before we only saw shadow and shade.

DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN’T READ Killing Matt Cooper first!

“. . . am I a unique and beautiful snowflake all my own?”

Holy crap John Cassian is one dark, twisted amazing author!! When I read his first book Killing Matt Cooper I was a bit unsure at first, but by the end I was floored. After finishing book two I am speechless absolutely speechless. This is an amazing book and Mr. Cassian is a gifted author. I look forward to reading more of his works.

“Evolution was trying to stamp me out because I liked to swim in the black pool of my own darkness.”

An FBI agent in love with the serial killer she is assigned to capture, it’s almost laughable but John Cassian makes it believable. We learn so much about the main character in this book and what attracted Kathleen to him “There was something…pure about you. Something juvenile, but pure and single-minded and real. You seemed like such a normal guy, such a hard-working, misunderstood everyman, but with this…dark underbelly.” This book is full of OMG, WTF, I did NOT see that coming and NO! moments that I stayed up all night just to finish it. All I can say now is Mr. Cassian HURRY UP and release Killing Miss Underwood! Before I’m tempted to do something rash. I HIGHLY recommend this book and I believe I have a favorite new author. I give this book 5++ stars.

AN AWESOME SEQUEL THAT CAN STAND ALONE!
He wrote another one just as good as the other one! I enjoyed this second novella in the Knight Chronicles just as much as the first one. If you ever wondered what an episode of “Criminal Minds” or “The Following” would be like from the killer’s perspective then you came to the right place. This series of masterfully written novellas will grab you and hold you. I said this when I reviewed the first book, but it is worth repeating. "It is riveting and dark, but lightened with just the right touch of humor.” This one starts out with a delightful surprise for the readers of book one. Later all the readers will be surprised more than once. The story is delightfully unpredictable with a shocking and clever end. It will leave you screaming for Mr. Cassian to hurry up with book three! For those who missed number one, “Killing Matt Cooper,” you don’t have to read it first, any order will be fine. The writing is so good and the the killer’s first person narration is so compelling that I know you will end up reading all of them. For that reason I recommend starting with book one now. I am very impressed by this author and I’m sure you will be too!

When we left off in Killing Matt Cooper. Sam Knight made a desperate move to keep the love of his life by his side A bit longer knowing the possibility of getting caught.

In Killing Sam Knight we pick up about 4 months later. Sam and Kathleen are closer than ever and in love! As they continue working on a new case they quickly discover theres a new killer in town however, as the case unfolds they learn theres a whole lot more to this one than they expected.

John Cassian definitely knows how to keep his readers on the edge of their seats.
First of all we finally learn Sam knights true identity, as we've known him to go by several alias', we tap into his past an bit and also learn some events of his child hood along with how he came by killing.

"I used to tell myself that I would really be in trouble if I was't horny. Horniness was the only part of me that seemed normal."

I literally couldn't put this book down! i'm happy to say there isn't a major Cliffy in the end as there was in the first book. but Mr. Cassian has definitely left plenty of room for more of this story... I look forward to what ever hes got coming... lets just hope we don't have to wait another yr.. hint hint

Pure Love's Kiss

Operating under the name Samuel Knight, a killer finds himself in an unusual situation. He's in a relationship with an FBI agent. But that's not the unusual part. Kathleen, the agent, takes the relationship in an expected direction.

Kathleen tries to explain her inexplicable feelings:

“I guess the same way those women are attracted to the single-minded determination of the Bundys and the Dahmers, I was just drawn to you. The way that you take control, it excited me, because I like being in control like that. I felt almost… thirsty for that kind of control. I guess I feel like you just stepped off the beaten path by one millimeter at every turn, but that one millimeter is what turned you into… you.”

John Cassian's Killing Sam Knight is exactly what Mr. Cassian says it is:

Dark

Erotic

Thriller

The short work is full of surprising twists and turns. The end is the greatest surprise of all.

I wasn't a big fan of Killing Matt Cooper but I liked how it ended and wanted to see these characters again and see how the story develops.

Cassian has really hit his stride here. This is an interesting novella that adds a lot of mystery and depth while hooking you into the story. I did find the first book boring but I was unable to stop reading Killing Sam Knight.

This is an intriguing read that no longer revolves around Sam being a serial killer. It's not a bad angle but the way this novel developed and even ended was exactly what the first novel needed.

It's true. I wasn't a big fan of the first book in this series and I thank John Cassian for telling me about the second book. It is a pretty quick read but one you won't regret reading.

I enjoyed Killing Sam Knight, but not as much as Killing Matt Cooper. For me, the relationship between Knight and Katherine didn't really work. I think it was because I didn't pick up on any explanation as to why Katherine felt driven to kill. Something must have spurred her to become an FBI agent, something that most likely would be at odds with wanting to become a serial killer. I also couldn't see either of them wanting to become parents, yet both seemed OK with Katherine's pregnancy.

On the plus side, I did find the writing was much tighter, with less repetition. I'm intrigued as to where John Cassian will take his character, and I'll definitely be checking out the third in the series.
