When an undercover mission goes wrong, Detective Emilia Ray Drucker is forced to hitch a ride with Peak Securities CEO, Micah Peak, while maintaining her cover as a twenty-year-old college student.
Micah is charming as he is handsome, and his mile-long protective streak is hard to resist, but the last thing Milly can afford is falling for him or, even worse, putting him in harm's way.
With a ruthless crime lord at her heels and Micah's persistence to help her at any cost, Milly will do everything it takes to get them both safely to Ohio, putting both her heart and her life on the line.
Little does she know that the man she's running from is the same man Micah and his brothers are trying to find.
When the truth comes out, how far will the straight-laced detective go to protect the man she loves?
Continue the thrilling mission to find Daniel Harlow today with HIDDEN SIGNS, the second book in the PEAK SECURITY series.
.
Hidden Signs is the second novel in the Peak Securities series. While each book tells the story of a different couple, they should be read in order to properly follow the suspense arc. This book ends with a cliffhanger.
Author of smutty love stories, painter of whiskey, and namer of beers.
Kyra is a big city girl who somehow scored an apartment with a balcony and parking space, where she lives with her two energetic cubs and MD husband who lives in perpetual fear of how efficiently she polishes off a rack of ribs.
Kyra's books range from slow-burn contemporary to insta-lust erotic romance and star alpharoll men, soft yet strong women, an abundance of spice, and an added bonus of dirty talk.
When Milly and Micah’s paths cross they don’t realise just how aligned their paths are. Keeping secrets and trying to keep their distance whilst fighting their attraction as they travel cross country is hard and they can’t help but let their real selves and real feelings slip through.
Written in dual POV this was actually quite a fun read. The attraction between both of them and the chemistry crackled but by writing in their own POV you got to experience their feelings and understand how it wasn’t just flirting or banter there was genuine attraction and feelings involved and they are so similar and such a well matched pair but there was also fear and a want to protect the other. Had they both been open and honest from the beginning things would have been a lot simpler.
Even though as a reader we know the two are linked pretty early on there were still plenty of twists and turns and surprise elements to keep me on my toes as a reader.
It ends on a cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more.

Dramatic mystery/action w/ some romance • Story/Plot: 📖📖📖📖 /5 • Characters: 🫂🫂🫂🫂 • Drama/Angst: 😰😰😰😰 • Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 • HEA? ❌ (HFN) • Would I re-read? ✔️ • Cliffhanger? ✔️ Yup, in the epilogue
I wasn’t sure what to expect so it kept me on my toes, that’s for sure. There was a fair bit of drama, angst & mystery. I almost stopped reading it when I believed the MMC did something that would have killed the book for me. You’ll KNOW when you get to that part… keep reading, trust me. 😉
The FMC is undercover and riding across the country with a stranger, the MMC. They met up on a carpool forum. The FMC is playing a young college student, riding with the CEO of a security company. Both are trained to pick up nuances of behavior so it was interesting as they each tried to get a read on one another.
I would have liked to know more about the FMC’s life and wished it hadn’t ended on a bit of a cliffhanger as that’s not my bag, but otherwise it was a great story. I read the whole thing in one sitting.

Oh, the secrets. The lies. The wondering. The feelings of guilt. And then, some truths come out. Not that Micah didn’t already have some theories, or that Milly didn’t have some of her own, but can they truly find happiness together when Daniel Harlow is still on the loose?
This is a whirlwind ride of intrigue and danger, with love that feels not quite right until secrets are revealed, as well as some sibling angst that needed to be unburdened. And while I questioned Milly’s judgment once or twice, I understood why she didn’t reveal all at once. She was trying hard to keep one step ahead of that which hounded her, and Micah needed to remain safe for her also. So when more questions arise even while some older ones are answered, I found myself wondering who’s on what side. Who’s got a thing for Effie? And will they act on it? Best of all, when will more questions and answers come our way? Hopefully soon because this inquiring mind needs to know!
So what I’ve always loved about Kyra’s books is that it instantly just grabs me and immerses me in the story. There are no long winded preambles or overly sensationalized descriptions, just a clear dive into the story and its characters.. like you were just looking into their lives or being part of it.
Micah and Milly are adorable together in their fight to ignore their attraction and obvious connection. I love the strength of both their characters and also the stubbornness of them both which makes for an interesting back and forth between the two leads. Unlike the first installment, this focused less on the suspense of the case and more on their story. The development of their relationship was given more of a highlight here than the mystery to be solved. And of course, back to another cliffy but quite alright because it means I have more books to look forward to!
I gave it a 4 because I’m not particularly fond of daddy kink, even if it was just light. But otherwise, a really good book!
"Hidden Signs" is a very interesting look at undercover work, hidden agendas, secrets, and eventual romance. Micah is the part owner/CEO of Peak Securities and Millie, a "college student" who hitchhikes with Micah to get to Ohio. As some secrets they are both keeping begin to unfold and their attraction to one another grows, the danger they are in deepens.
Kyra Fox's writing is engaging and grabbed my attention from the very beginning. Since this book, as the first in the series "Touch of Secrets", ended in a cliffhanger, I suggest reading them in order.

An undercover cop- Milli; CEO of a security company- Micah; a mystery, mole, angst, danger, secrets, and so much steam. Kyra drew this amazing story from her imagination and delivers. Her characters and locations are intimately described so you feel like you are right there. Kyra is a fairly new author for me and I am so glad to have found her. Her story flows with unexpected plot twists, humor, and great dialog.
Finally got another book in the Peak Securities Series. Forced proximity trope with the mystery of Harlow still hanging out there. Play lightly into the whole daddy/good girl thing that’s been pretty popular lately. They start it as a joke so it almost gets a little cringey after awhile. Multiple seggsy scenes and some suspense that leads us to a HEA. There is a bonus scene but only when you sign up for the newsletter.
First thing - I love how the prequel and this novel connected. You don’t see how it all connects until later on but it was seamless with the two story’s overlapping.
Second - Micah is daddy. You’ll understand once you dive into this book, but wow did he make me question things! He is kind and understanding with such a big heart, but he is firm and strong willed. He’s finally ready to take something for himself and that’s Milly.
Milly is a very secretive person and during her time with Micah she really opened up. Or so we thought. In order to keep him safe something’s could not be shared. I loved how her feelings grew for him.. this was such a whirlwind romance and I’m so happy they weren’t separated for long. She’s a strong FMC and I wanted to see more of her as an Agent instead of just a normal girl on the run.
I will be not so patiently waiting on the next book ‘Invisible Scars’ - maybe we will get to see all of the characters together?
Hidden Signs is the second book in Kyra Fox’s Peak Securities Series. This book is told in dual POV and is Micah and Milly’s story. Although technically book two, book one was a prequel novel so Hidden Signs really got into the family dynamics and introduced us to all of the Peak brothers. Kyra did a fantastic job of weaving Sawyer and Maddie’s story from Touch of Secrets into this new book. If you didn’t read the first one it gives enough explanation without you feeling confused, but if you have read it then it’s fun to see some things from other character perspectives. I fell in love with the characters. It wouldn’t be a Kyra book if the heroine wasn’t sassy and the hero wasn’t an alpharoll. This book really shows there is more than meets the eye and I love how Micah and Milly size each other up. The chemistry is off the charts right from the first page. I love the banter, even with this being an insta love story you could feel the connection. Daddy Micah is so dang hot, I love a confident man in touch with his emotions. Milly is a force to be reckoned with, she’s tough as nails but I love watching her learn to rely on Micah. I can tell I’m going to love all the Peak Brothers, and the little Easter eggs about what might come next has me itching for the next book. We do get a Happy For Now ending which slightly makes up for the cliffhanger. This book has it all: steam, love, action, mystery, and suspense. What will Harlow do next? Where is Maddie? What’s next for Milly? I am loving this series and I can’t wait to see where this goes. If you’re looking for protective men and strong women fighting the evils of this world, grab this series, you will LOVE Hidden Signs. This is shaping up to be a fantastic series, highly recommend!
Ms. Fox delivers a hot, spicy and suspense-filled romance that will have you needing a cold shower as well as sitting on the edge of your seat. I was pulled in by how the two main characters seemed like complete opposites but in reality, they were very much alike. Milly was the quiet, secretive college girl who looked like she was fighting the world, but she was really an undercover cop, Detective Emilia Ray Drucker. Micah works for Peak Securities and due to some past instances, he is not allowed to fly so here he is driving and carpooling with Milly. The two of them seem to get on each other's nerves but deep down there is an underlying pull they have toward one another. Micah knows that she is hiding something but what? Is she in trouble? Is someone after her? Is she running from danger? So many questions running through Micah's brain. Danger comes knocking on their door and they both secretly think it is because of them. The tension is strong but it is the sexual tension that seems to be the strongest. Micah has a Daddy kink that seems to intrigue Milly and things get steamy. At times I wanted to throw my device across the room because of Micah and some of the things he did and said, however, he did redeem himself. I recommend picking up Hidden Signs and enjoy Milly and Micah's story. I cannot wait for the next installment, Invisible Scars.

Amelia, aka Milly, is a undercover San Francisco cop on loan to the DEA to catch a drug distributor in the SF area. Somehow (was not well explained in the book that I remember), this guy is after her and she is on the run. She has been posing as a 20 year old college student, and is looking for a ride home to the Midwest to get away. She gets a message about Micah needing a passenger and they hook up. Micah is the head of a his family’s Security firm and is heading home after meetings. He is actually looking for the same guy Milly is running from, but neither knows about the other’s connection to this guy. The story follows their trip across country as their initial attraction grows and deepens, despite threats on the trip and once at their destination. Micah and Milly’s story resolves itself, at least for now, but there are many unanswered questions which I guess will be addressed in the next book. Probably reading the first book would answer some of them, but I don’t believe book 1was a prerequisite. This story itself had good characters, there was quite a bit of action that they faced, and it held my interest. It was worth the read, even without my questions being answered.

This was a fab follow-up to book one and I love how strong and stubborn they both were. Milly, an undercover cop, is carpooling with Micah, a security specialist, and the sparks sure fly ;) Danger surrounds them, though, and each think they are responsible for it. Lol! We get some answers we were looking for from book one but more come to light and I can't wait to get the next installment to see how things continue to unfold for these fun characters. Expect a steamy romance, twists, suspense and secrets to have you fully engaged in this exciting story. Can't wait for the next book ;D
I love Kyra's heroes so freaking much. I love how rounded they are as men. They are alpha but they LOVE their women so much. swoon.
Micah is just the same. He gives everything to those he loves and cares for, often being overlooked. He is a constant for his family. Milly just fits with him. She sees him as him, and the sacrifices that he has made for his family. I love how strong Milly is, though I do question how she thinks sometimes- the head wars with the heart.
I love that it is a stand-alone but has little hidden nuggets to connect with book one.
4.75 stars When Micah picks up Milly to carpool to Ohio, he had no idea things would go the way they did. Milly who is uncover as "20" year old and Micah start to get comfortable with each other. There are secrets but there is also moments they open up to each other. But with the enemy still in the shadows and Milly having to go back to her life, what will become of these new found feelings? An exciting page turner with some heat.
I received an ARC in exchange for a review. Story premise was good, but the telling didn't quite deliver. Started out well, then slowly fell apart. The sex/love thing didn't work well between the two main characters. Names of people critical to the suspense were introduced then not brought up again till almost the end. How was I supposed to remember who they were? Needs an editor, not only for misspelled/wrong words, but to tie in subplots, give more depth of character.
Millie and Micah have been added to my "favorite couples" list.
This book has all my favs - romance, spice, suspense, humor... Wonderful characters and a storyline I can't get enough of. And speaking of not being able to get enough, let's talk about Micah... ❤️🔥🥰
If you ask me, Kyra Fox is shining bright in the romantic suspense section of your bookstore.
I couldn't have asked for more with her Peak Securities Series. And if you loved Maddie and Sawyer, just wait until you meet Millie and Micah. Kyra knows how to create heartthrobs you'll hold close in your dreams for years to come.
What starts as an innocent road trip becomes something more in so many ways. There is the obvious forced proximity, then add a hidden identity, sprinkle in some heavy flirting with a dose of Daddy, and then top it off with one bed. They didn't stand a chance. Add in a psychopath criminal chasing both of them for just a little extra oomph.
I really enjoyed this book. It is the second in the Peak Securities series. You don't have to read the first one to enjoy this book but it will give you background on some of the other the characters. There is a ton of heat between Micah and Millie and a little "daddy" play. The plot will keep you on your toes and have you rooting for Millie and Micah. Micah is waiting in San Francisco to pick up a college student for a ride share back to Ohio. He is just about leave when Millie shows up with her blue hair. They take off on their cross country journey and Micah can tell that Millie is running from something. Millie won't tell Micah what is going on or who she really is because it would blow her cover. They run into some trouble at one of their overnight stops and Micah pulls in Jonah and the rest of Peak Securities. The ending is really good. Go Millie! I don't want to give too much away but I highly recommend this book. I received this book as an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving this review.
The author has given us a heart pounding story that pulls us into the lives of Micah and Milly. The story keeps us turning the pages with secrets, connection, danger and steam.

Milly and Micah are the main characters in this mystery, romance story. There is a cliffhanger that leaves you only wanting more. Plus if you like undercover cops then you’ll love this book! I recommend it!
Funky, kinky ad fun all the way through. One draw back was all the similar names spoiled reading it a bit. Otherwise entertaining. Leaving me interested in book2.
A great book. I will definitely be looking up the next book. Plenty of action and suspense. Kept me turning the pages. I can't wait to see what happens next
I really liked how the story was similar to touch of secrets but still had its own little differences. I liked that the romance was also different and not the exact same as maddie and sawyers because sometimes that happens in books by the same author.
