I pretty much loved it!
This was one of my most anticipated releases for 2024 (I don't have that many) and it didn't disappoint.
Full of dark romance goodness with a little gothic and paranormal elements woven in; one of the early poems very reminiscent of an old vampire poem from the early days of the literary vampire, which was pretty cool. Also the first poem is written in memory of a dear friend of the BookTube community as well as the collection is dedicated to her. 💚
I actually have several favourites marked and will be returning to them often.
I definitely recommend you check out this collection.

Mistress of Horror, Queen of Dark Romance. It took me a while to get through this collection, but only because I wanted to savor every word. D.L. Tillery is a master at carefully crafting her words to make you feel every poem deep down in your bones. If you didn't rate this 5 stars, sorry, you're wrong ;)

I have been a fan of this authors poetry. She doesn't have many published, but she often reads her poetry on her YouTube channel.
As you can tell by the title, this collection of poems are focused around the concept of love, passion and obsession, towards another person, idea or object. Someone once asked me, how can a love poem be regarded as horror? And to that I say, when you're completely blinded and fixated on one person or thing to a extreme level, that you push everything and everyone away, which may result in harm, pyschial or internal, which can result in a unhealthy lifestyle. How can that not be classified as anything else but horror? But be warned! If your triggered by domestic abuse or obsession, then maybe this isn't for you. But I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes horror poetry or maybe something abit darker.
This collection is also dedicated to my dearly departed friend Pax Panic, who brought the form or dark horrific poetry into my life, and she would have deeply enjoyed this book and possibly even shed a few tears of happiness over that fact as well.

Thorns of My Heart is a dark romance poetry collection penned by the alluring D.L. Tillery. 🖤
She takes us on a journey of dark seduction as she tells stories of love and lust both lost and found. I caught myself blushing at times, as I read some of the spicier passages, while envisioning candles, rose petals, velvet and silk mixed with leather, silver chains, and black lace. She evokes a gothic vibe that pulls you in and grabs hold of your neck while whispering sweet nothings into your ear.
The contrary forces kept me flipping those pages, eager to know what other deliciously dark morsels she had up her sleeve.
If you enjoy gothic romance, Queen of the Damned vibes, and hearing phantom organ music play in the back of your mind as you travel to depths unknown, this collection is for you.
