Meh, it was ok..The second “extra” story 27 Minutes was pretty mind swirly and I enjoyed that. As for Body Count, maybe I need to read Caution Tape to get a better feel for the characters.
This was a good short read! This is my first time reading about Cora and Nolan and I’m going to have to read their books now! I loved the other short story as well it left me guessing what will happen next. If you like cemeteries, dead bodies, serial killers and spice this is the book for you!
I enjoyed the first story (body count), right up my street! Horrific, gory, Smut. I enjoyed the characters and their sick chemistry! Made me want to read of them through the main story, caution tape..
The second story (27 Minutes) was a cute one, a sweet love. In complete contrast to Body count. Two opposite ends of the spectrum.
My only gripe is that the book was so to short (48 pages for 2 story’s? Not enough).
But I enjoyed it nonetheless the will definitely be reading more by JD night.
**Ideally, you'll want to read 'Caution Tape' before reading this short story. This review has a slight spoiler from 'Caution Tape'**
This books contains two short stories The rating I have left is for just the first story story
⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
The first short story is about Cora and Nolan, showing a snippet of their lives a long time after the 'Caution Tape' book.
After their last emotional and violent time shared together, which lead to Cora disappearing and being on the run, Nolan has found his way back to her. An intense reunion between these two deranged serial killers, which of course included a murder and some dark kinky sex ... Plus a brutally made coffin glory hole ... A first for everything, huh.
This short story nicely tied up the end of the 'Caution Tape' book, so will this little gap filler about the 'mutal monsters' be a lead up to a second book? I hope so. Cora is a badass, crazy killer and Nolan is a domineering, disturbed destroyer of humans ... I'd like to see where and how their lives of chaos and deviant behaviour will end 😈
27 Minutes This short story was unrelated to the previous so I wasn't bothered by it, it didn't hold my interest in the darker side of life, I just skimmed through it, thus I feel like I can't leave a rating or a review for this part of the book. From my quick, unproper read through, I think it's about the woman telling her side of how she was/is uncertain of their relationship but the couple end up meshing and living their lives together, making it work?
5⭐️ GAAHHH I LOVED THIS!! As expected, Molly Doyle and J.D. midnight did not disappoint! This was a super short read that had me cackling most of the time! (Maybe I’m a psychopath, but who cares) There’s two short stories: Bodycount and 27 minutes. Bodycount starts right where Caution tape ends (non-canon) and ugh, I just love Nolan and Cora so much! The banter was amazing, the smut was spicyyyy and the writing was dark and twisted in a beautiful poetic way. I loved it so much and I can only hope to see more of them!! 27 minutes really was a kind of palette cleanser, as the author phrased it. Totally unrelated to body count in any way and a completely different vibe. I’m not sure what to think of it. It was interesting and intriguing, yet also a little confusing? (Maybe that’s just me.) Both stories were short and fun to read!
The title story, Body Count, is the perfect teaser for more CoraxNolan fun but I really do wish there was more. I found myself wanting more gore and violence from the couple. It was an amazing short, but I didn't realize it would be THAT short and I'm gonna miss them again. I absolutely love being in Nolan's POV, I get such a kick out of his inner monologue.
The second story, 27 Minutes, is a cute story. I liked being in the MCs head and seeing her struggle with everything. The final paragraph had me giggling. I'm glad it had an HEA. Definitely a good palate cleanser.
OMG My babies are back!!! Cora and Nolan are my absolute favorite unhinged psycho serial killers. I've missed them so much. Nolan is still talking to thin air and Cora is girl bossing her way through her kill count and I couldn't be happier for them. There's not much else to say other than there's a hole in a coffin and we're sticking things in it. I need more of these two immediately.
This book contains 2 short stories. Body Count, which takes place after Caution Tape with co-author Molly Doyle. I messed up and read this and not the other story first. But now I know what's going to be my next read. But it was so good.
The second short story is 27 minutes. The inner monologue of a woman struggling to accept the pros and cons of a relationship she is in. It's such a different vibe from Body Count. I thoroughly enjoyed it both short stories.
This wasn’t much and but is exactly what it said to be. It is 40 pages of a scene with the two characters and a whiplash short story included. This is normally the highest I will rate novellas because it isn’t a full story but really enjoyed it and can’t wait for a conclusion to Cora and Nolan’s story which is concerning knowing who they are and what they actually did in this novella. Way inappropriate but just so them😂
Nolan and Cora reunite in the first short. In a cemetery. Yeah. The second short is about a woman named Vicky ruminating on her tumultuous relationship with Lynn as she walks 27 minutes to his house.
Nobody does erotic horror with artistic prose like J.D. and Molly. And I promise you, you haven’t read anything like this before. A coffin glory hole!!!! Maybe I’m chasing a desensitization high.
Vicky and Lynn are super compelling and I found myself reading so fast as Vicky kept walking. The pacing clearly worked. I liked the little change in pace of subgenre and it still read with the same J.D. charm.
I needed this little short and spicy pick-me-up.
My only contest is the choice of the name Lynn (it’s my future Mother In-laws name and that is all).
*I received this book as an eARC and provided an honest review.*
This continuation of the series had a gory scene and a fun spicy scene but not the best. I thought it was a little boring and not at all gruesome or erotic as the warnings made it out to be. The second story was dragged out, boring, repetitive and after all that it rushes to an ending on the very last page, that was annoying😐
2 Short Stories on polar opposites of the spectrum.
Body Count is a quick and easy to read dark and spicy story with plenty of gore. Nolan is following Cora, his enemy/ex lover, to a graveyard where things get messy 😉
27 Minutes is a quick read following Vicky's 27-minute walk while on the way to end her relationship and her compete inner dialogue of why the relationship can't work.
Nolan and Cora were just absolutely comical. The inner monologue of Nolan, and his hallucinations were just absolutely amazing. And Cora is just such a boss. I love this couple.
27 minutes. It honestly felt like a rundown of my mind 99% of the time. But it was good. I honestly kind of wish there was more but it was good as it was.
I'm completely, utterly, and possibly disturbingly fixated on this!
Nolan and Cora with that Graveyard Tryst!!⚰️🖤🫶🔥 27 Minutes 🖤🙌🏼
I wasn't sure what to expect from Body Count, but I'm thoroughly engrossed – it's a wildly brilliant short read! JD Midnight has clearly bewitched me, and I'm eager to devour more of his work.
This was amazing! I had missed Cora and Nolan so much and J.D sure didn’t disappoint by giving us this short. I mean a coffin?! Definitely hot and unhinged and totally them!
Definitely wasn’t expecting to see another short in here as well. Twenty seven minutes was a ride even with how quick of a read it was! I really wasn’t sure how it would end but I can tell you I was NOT expecting the ending we got!
I loved getting to see where caution tape left off. As always the spice was a 10🌶️, definitely dark with a little Gore. I can't wait for the next book to come out because the first book was amazing and this short story did not disappoint.
Went into this without reading caution tape first. Which was my mistake. But for my brief meeting of Nolan and cora. I must say I love his inner dialogue and cora's energy. I was expecting more gore but loved the coffin glory hole.
Quick easy FILTHY read!! Perfect if you love smut, and the graveyard 👀 Nolan and Cora enjoy ( if thats the right word) some filthy fun surrounded by death - literally. Rating based on the craziness & filth. Dont expect plot. This is a short following on from Caution Tape
I know this was a short story but I'm so confused. What on earth was the point of the 27 minutes section?? And the first half felt a bit random. Did Cora find a new kill buddy? Who was the guy? Sorry this was not it for me. I liked caution tape though.
Like most here, I've missed Cora and Nolan. The little story about Cora and Nolan was sexy and bloody and the second short story is a complete 180 from the first. This was a really creative and cute short read to release on valentine's day
