The first time I met the charismatic and devilishly handsome Zachary Cole, I had no idea that he was so rich. But, I knew one thing. I knew that he wanted me. And, I wanted him.
The second time, years later, was under very different circumstances.... I was working undercover, to investigate the disappearance of his wife. Would he remember me?
M. L. Smith is an author of erotic thrillers and erotic romances. Short, dark and Northern, she was born in Edinburgh in the 70's - well, 1970 to Shetland heritage. After a family move down to the North East Coast of England, not far from Whitby as a baby, she has remained there ever since. Married with 2.4 children, she has been an avid reader for as long as she can remember. Growing up, Enid Blyton was her thing, then she progressed to an obsession with crime thrillers, then onto her next obsession... Erotica! When she writes, she likes her males 100% alpha, with a generous dollop of vulnerabilities, and her heroines curvy, ballsy and sassy. She also enjoys reading and writing sensual poetry. She loves her family, Italy and Spain - where she can converse in food and alcoholic drinks related matters, Bloody Mary's and of course, writing. Catch her on her blog!
I made it 15% in and I just couldn't read it anymore. The premise is great but the dialogue was not enjoyable. Who whispers and then uses an exclamation point at the end of the sentence? The use of the exclamation point was there.... a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried to let the small errors roll off my shoulders but I couldn't continue.
I hope that this book will be like some of the others out there and there and have a great meeting with an editor because the book blurb really was exciting to me.
Beautifully Irresistible is about a chance encounter between Zachary Cole and Jennifer Black. Instant sexual chemistry, but nothing happens due to Jennifer spotting Zack’s Wedding band. The story then jumps a few years Jennifer is now a policewoman and her new assignment is to go undercover as Zack’s house keeper to discover what really happened to his missing wife. The story progresses quite quickly with the two of them falling for each other and admitting they both still remember their first meeting. The sex scenes are quite frequent which I began to find off putting as I personally felt they were being used as fillers and had little relevance to the plot. The story itself is very good, it moves at a good pace and keeps you engaged. The twist at the end was good if slightly expected. I would have liked more character development and less sex scenes. The crime element of the story was very gripping, it held my interest right the way through the book. Over all I enjoyed the book and would recommend it, a great book to curl up with. I would defiantly read other titles by this author. I give this book four well deserved 4****
I will admit it took me a while to get into this book. I love mystery and suspense so I had to keep reading to find out who did it. I had my suspicions throughout the book and I was only partially right. I was surprised to find out what really happened. I'm glad I finished the book. I would recommend it.
Okay. First off, what the fuck! What's with all the fucking exclamation points!!!!!!!!! Are you angry or something? I can't place the tone of the dialogue.
Secondly, 'I love you' well shit, that was quick, too. Didn't see that coming but, eh? But they're chemistry was so fucking HOT! So hot, shit. So damn hot.
Thirdly, the emotions are like every where, one moment they're all sweet and stuff next they're yelling at each other. He called her a moody bitch after she acted like a crazy girlfriend. Totally understandable but seriously? If you love someone, do you call her a moody bitch for just acting crazy. I wouldn't want my boyfriend's ex telling me about how good he is in the sac.
Fourthly, he called his daughter a little slut. A little too much, but there are people like that. I was taken aback. It kind of showed a little bit of how he truly is.
I really want him to be innocent in all of this, but I don't know. He seemed like he had something to do with it but then, there were the other people.
Oh shit, the thing at David's house. He was clearly hiding something from her. But they love each other, clearly everyone can see that. He loves her so much.
SPOILER THOUGH: the last chapter was so shocking shit.
The story was all in all great! Could use a good proof reader but great. Loved it.
I never give a book one star - ever! The reason this book got only one is for the following reasons:- The over use of the exclamation mark, the continual use of 'I am' 'I will' and 'We will' instead of I'm, I'll and We'll in the dialogue which succeeded in making the dialogue very stilted and removed any emotion. The whole storyline, although it had promise, ended up being a series of events with no real connection. The reaction to meeting ex-partners and/or the opposite sex making advances was way over the top but the reaction to kissing other people seemed to be far too easily forgiven. I worked out who the mystery man was right from the beginning and the final chapter well I thought that conclusion was plainly obvious even though the subject of that chapter should have been showing signs of major mental trauma throughout the book or is a complete sociopath. Lastly the fact that Jennifer was supposed to be a police detective and behaved the way she did, she would in real life be dismissed immediately. Anyway - rant over.
This book had a lot of potential, but it needs a lot of work. The dialogue was awkward and didn't flow smoothly. The characters sounded like robots. There were too many uses of character names in the dialogue. In every day speaking, most people don't repeatedly use the other person's name. We all know who we're talking to and there was an over use of exclamation marks when a simple period would do. The heroine was like a horny teenaged boy. The only time I really liked her was when she was interacting with the hero's children. There was way too much unnecessary sex and references to Jennifer's large breasts. It seemed like everytime Jennifer met a new character, they were obsessed and remarked about her breasts and every ex of Zach's (and there were a ton), had the need to tell everyone how good of a lay he was. This book felt very juvenile. I actually enjoyed the subplot more. The mystery behind Zach's wife's disappearance was the only thing that kept me reading.
Free download. Well this could have been a great read. The story and plot were good but I found the writing and dialogue to be wooden and unrealistic. It had many spelling errors and some of the police references were poor. The characters were good and with more effort they could have been true and part of a good storyline. My rating was mainly for the amount of sex in this book. Jennifer and Zach had a lot of sex, everywhere so that was probably the best part of this read. I would only recommend if you have nothing else to read.
This was almost a DNF for me...the story itself had a lot of potential to be a good one, but the writing was difficult to bare... At 10% I knew it wouldn't get better...not to mention all the sex...it had too much dex and none of it felt real. I felt like the story was too rushly written...like the whole book was just a bunch of ideas put together....it was a shame, because the storyline had everything to be good.
OMG what a twist at the end, too bad it didn't connect with the rest of the story! It was like trying too hard!
I got 10% in. the story has potential, the banter between the characters is awful. one minute Jennifer is being forceful and forward, the next she's shy and blushing. Zach is described as being modest and unaware of his charm. all very contradictory of their actions. the dialogue doesn't flow and there are too many exclamations!!!! sorry I couldn't finish it, I tried, I hate not finishing. a re-edit would have me reconsidering the background story sounded good.
Ok, where do I begin.... This had the potential to be a good meaty storyline an undercover cop living with an Adonis for info, but unfortunately it read more like a porn story... It was the writing, the speech and some if the descriptions used that let this book down. Tho don't get me wrong, some if the sexy sessions were hot! This will not be a book I'll be revisiting any time soon.
This is quite possibly one of the worst books I have ever attempted to read. I made it to about 38% complete and just could not go on. It was even a free read, and still I just can't do it.
The main female character is completely unlikeable and lacking any ethics. The main male character, up to the 30% point was a wuss with very little character.
I have this one star because I felt that the story line and plot had potential. I liked the synopsis when I read it. However that is the best it got. The writing was horrible and stiff. I don't think inhale ever read dialogue that was that unrealistic or contrived. I think with a lot more effort and polish this author could be pretty good but this effort was not ready to be published.
I finished this book only because I hate not finishing books. Goodreads says this book is 368 pages long, it would be half that if you took out all the sex scenes.
I know, I read mommy porn for the porn part, and M.L. Smith writes some of the best sex scenes I've ever read, but even this was over the top. They were doing it every 4th or 5th page.
I like the plot. BUT: There were spelling errors. There were punctuation errors. There were grammatical errors. Things were repeated over and over again like their names. A lot of little things got on my nerves.
