The Driver
The Driver is the story of a cross-country chase involving a combat veteran turned chauffeur. A woman on the run from an abusive husband. A loan shark dead set on repayment. And a precocious five-year-old kid with a dubious respiratory illness.
The Driver follows the story of Will Barton - a former US Army Ranger who is hired by Emily Maldonado to drive her and her daughter from New York to Los Angeles. Unknown to Will, Emily is fleeing a violent and vindictive husband who will do anything to get her, and the money she took, back. Shortly after Will and Emily leave New York, the husband sends three “associates” to retrieve Emily and their daughter. Meanwhile the loan shark, who had loaned Will the money for his car, discovers that Will has left New York and assumes that he has walked out on his debts. So begins not one, but two hunts of the threesome.
