It was supposed to be a routine drug bust. Arrest some magic jerks and move on, but then a fellow operative is murdered, and Aviva is thrust into a perilous black ops mission to disprove corruption charges.
Meanwhile, her half-sister is being blackmailed for being an infernal, and as Avi struggles to protect her, she’s set on a collision course with the one person she hoped to never meet.
And just when she thought things couldn’t get any crazier, her ex drops a bomb about second chances.
Aviva must navigate a minefield of love, betrayal, and powerful Maccabees gunning for her, to expose her enemies—and keep her secrets hidden. But hey, running for your life is good cardio, right?
Featuring a smart, funny heroine and a banter-fueled vampire romance, this wickedly addictive urban fantasy will keep you reading way past bedtime.
Deborah Wilde is a global wanderer and hopeless romantic. After twelve years as a screenwriter, she was also a total cynic with a broken edit button, so, she jumped ship, started writing funny, sexy, urban fantasy and paranormal women’s fiction books, and never looked back.
She loves writing smart, flawed, wisecracking women who can solve a mystery, kick supernatural butt, banter with hot men, and still make time for their best female friend, because those were the women she grew up around and admired. Granted, her grandmother never had to kill a demon at her weekly friend lunches, but Deborah is pretty sure she could have.
This is book 3 in the Bedevilded AF series and the books just keep getting better! In this book Aviva is on what is supposed to be a routine mission to shut down a drug operation. But of course, nothing is ever routine where Aviva is concerned. A demon is found in the basement of the house and there are more connections to Aviva's infernal investigation. Meanwhile, Maud is being blackmailed by someone who knows she is an infernal and Silas is taken into custody to try to draw Ezra out of the Copper Hell. And speaking of Ezra... well, Aviva might have to re-evaluate her enemy status with him! There is so much that happens in this book, there is never a dull moment! Aviva is really starting to grow and mature as the series goes on. She is beginning to repair her relationships with her mother and Ezra. And while she is still making mistakes, she is learning from them. But she is still torn and feeling guilty over all the secrets she has to keep, esp from her best friend. Will she ever feel ready to tell her or will her secrets destroy their friendship? I really feel for Aviva with all her turmoil over whether she can tell even her best friend her deepest secret. There were more bombshells dropped and again more questions that now need answered! The deeper Aviva digs, the more into this story line I get! Once again I am excited to see where this goes with all the things happening, esp. between Aviva and Ezra! (And Darsh and Silas too!) It was fun to see a different side of Ezra in this book - and finding out what really goes on in his life.
This is the third book in this series of five books. I'm very excited that the next book comes out this month and am sad to have to wait on the fifth until August. I have been listening to these books on Everand.
This is also the fourth series I have read from Deborah Wilde. I'm a big fan. I love her smart, funny, and snarky heroines. I also love that all of the characters are flawed humans with baggage that must be overcome. Sometimes, it means that the back and forth of the relationships gets a bit tedious. It also means that the relationships become complex and more real - and aren't just for the smut factor.
With this book, Aviva's relationship with her mother, lover, and best friend become more complex and fraught with tension as the lies around Aviva's identity come to a head. This leads to some heart-to-heart conversations that are long overdue. It also builds on the storyline of Aviva's discovery of her half-sister and father. I look forward to those storylines in books four and five.
This is the third book in the Bedevilded AF series and the story, characters and imagination just keep getting better. This book is packed full of action, mystery, romance and intrigue, there is never a dull moment. There are more bombshells dropping, mysteries starting to be revealed and yet more questions being raised.
This is a wonderfully fun universe of demons, vampires and magical beings, along with a snarky heroine and mysteries a plenty. A great book in a wonderful series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I really would like to know how authors create all these twists and turns without giving them all away in the first few chapters.
Aviva has a knack for landing in it, but she also has the skill and intelligence to find her way out. This time also she’s finding her emotional intelligence and having the hard discussions with those she loves and finding they do love her back.
I really enjoyed the growth in this book, the continuance of previous storyline’s while creating new ones. I loved it all.
This instalment of Bedeviled AF was slow to start for me, but once it got going, it really got going.
I always enjoy the way Ms Wilde incorporates Jewish mythology into her UF, but I also really appreciate the way she writes people in all of their complexity. In particular, in this instalment
I spent the first few chapters not sure if I'd keep going with the series after this - by the time I got to the end, there was no way I WASN'T going to continue. Looking forward to Book 4!
Book three in this incredible series and I swear it just gets better and better! Action packed and brimming with adventure, drama, danger, mystery and intrigue, I found myself totally hooked and on the edge of my seat. Twists and turns and a few surprises kept me guessing as our sassy and snarky fmc investigates a routine drug bust that goes drastically wrong. Blackmail, betrayal, it’s captivating and entertaining and it’s all going on in this latest addition.
This series is really enjoyable. Lots of twists and turns with almost constant action, this book has so much story development it’s crazy. And even though it took me several days to read, I feel like I might need to re-read it for subtleties I might have missed. And it’s not just action, but significant people development as well. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Highly recommend but definitely not standalone. Start at the beginning.
Best in the series so far, this book is a perfect mix of mystery, action, and humour. Some big plot hooks get resolved in really satisfying ways. At the same time the author cleverly deploys just enough info for the reader to be eager for the next book. (Oh, and not to be read while hungry … some casual food descriptions left me insatiably craving the characters’ dinner.)
Family, relationships and work can a girl get a break
Avi is gaining new family members but tensions are high with her best friend. Are the powers that be at work out to get her, can her boss mum have her back just this once. Life is yet to be either simple or settled for Avi but the journey is full of support, even from places you don’t expect.
Deborah Wilde delivers an excellent read in this third instalment of Bedeviled. Can’t wait for more.
I enjoyed this action-paced, fast-paced PNR/UF storyline with betrayal, drama, deception, chemistry, and love. The MCs are defined, intelligent, loyal, and are meant for one another even if one fights it. I found this book entertaining and engaging. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
Stellar, as always. Aviva is such a great character, and I'm so thrilled with how the rest of the characters/side plots are playing out. The love lock thread is incredibly clever. And I should have known there wouldn't actually be black and white/sweeping characteristics for an entire species in a Wilde book.
This book was excellent. I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. This installment has it all from mystery, magic, action, humor, romance, secret revelations, and some serious heart to heart moments. You should definitely read this book, this series, you will not regret it. I can’t wait for the next installment.
I love this series and everything written by this author. The characters are definitely multi-faceted and interesting. They struggle with personal issues and sacrifice while trying to keep the world safe and unknowing. Friendships and relationships are at risk which kept me anxious yet hopeful. Right when you feel like you can breathe deeply and smile, another shoe is dropped.
I am so glad I took the recommendation to read BDE. I love this story and world that is created. Every time, every book the endings has me NEEDING the next book. I love Aviva, Ezra, Silas, Darsh, and Sachie and their banter and commentary. The way I would crawl on my hands and knees for a Darsh and Silas book is unreal. I love this series!
This series is isn’t the same characters in different situations, it is the same characters navigating one main situation/problem with a second problem running parallel to it. The characters are interesting and even fun, but it kind of feels like each book is a chapter of one story. This could get boring for those with limited attention spans.
Want a snarky heroine and a mystery to boot? This is your book! Avi has hidden her half demon side all her life. The time to give her darkest secret to her lifelong friend is at hand. A drug bust goes bad, her ex is back in the picture, and daddy dearest is a literal snake in the grass. Great book!
This third book is Outstanding! I Love the humor and the action and the general crazy things that take place in this story. Each addition to this series brings me more of Aviva and her adventures that I absolutely Love!!! Great Story! No Spoilers! I Highly Recommend as a Fun Fantastic Story!
Aviva is awesome! She messes up, she takes her comeuppance and she learns. She grows. So do the people around her. Loving this series. Michael is a good mom. Sach is a good friend.
I really like Aviva in these books. Not only is Aviva having to fight for her career, she is also trying to get back together with her ex-boyfriend, and rescuing her friend. She also is trying not to get killed. I will definitely read the next book in the series.
It took me a while to get through with this book, but I liked the story and the characters are interesting. I think I liked the last book more than this one, but I enjoyed the overall story. I’m looking forward to the next book. 5 stars.
Can't wait for the next one. These adventures never gets old and the world building and characters are lovable. Can't wait to see what the next book brings.
I liked seeing the growth Avi is experiencing. And Ezra, whew! He’s yummy. Can’t wait to see what’s next. Will Avi ever let the Baroness come out to play permanently?
Aww, heck. Aviva is in for it this time. The girl just can't catch a break. Book 3 and things aren't slowing down. Not that I'd expected it from Deb. Aviva is investigating a demon suicide and gets in deep in a web of half demons and keeping their secret. Her sister is being blackmailed for her identity, Avi is trying to help her. Silas is asked to assist in the investigation and is being falsely imprisoned and about to be executed. Ezra is still in the Copper Hell but his rendezvous with Avi are priceless, and them getting closer again is an absolute delight. Also... her relationships with her mom and with Sachie? Yes, please, to that story arc.
This series just keeps getting better! Aviva is investigating a drug case and things really go south. A lot is happening for her this time. Filled with action, mystery and romance! Better the Demon You Know checks all the boxes and then some!
The thing I've needed to happen with Aviva and pretty much everyone in her life starts happening. Yip, it's true she's having actual proper conversations with EVERYONE. Well everyone who she's needed to have a proper conversation with since the start i.e. her mother, Ezra and Sachie.
This was a great read, and I'm so happy with where things are, and where they're going for Aviva and the overarching story. I'm also now, judging situations based on the stationery used.
Ms. Wilde has always been my go-to for snarky heroines, but for a half-shedim (demon), paranormal Maccabee (think International Paranormal Protection Agency) she is also a big softy... A softy that could kick my tail three-ways from Sunday, but a softy she is. I have enjoyed reading her evolution and, let's face it, her reckoning with the Brimstone Baroness, her scalier half.
But, this book got me in the feels and I must say, it may be my favorite in the series! I loved how her relationships with the most important people in her life have evolved. I can't wait until the next installment!
However, if you are looking for a balls to the wall, action adventure with a snarky heroine who is accomplished (even through her daddy issues), who cares and who will stop at nothing to find the truth-- pull up a seat and enjoy the ride!
