In Meltdown, Author Tara Thompson weaves a riveting tale that transports the reader into the fascinating world of fashion, finance and politics as four people's lives intertwine when their pasts collide with the present.

Nyssa, Steve, Demetri and Aislinn come from diverse backgrounds, each of their journeys are filled with intriguing pasts some troubled, some privileged ... each dealing with conflicts and aspirations interwoven within acquiring power, prestige and romance.

With the backdrop of Greece, NYC and Texas, the reader enters the drama filled world of fashion, financial crises of Wall Street, and political/sexual scandals in Texas government as they follow the characters' storylines in an alternating fashion that includes flashbacks to their pasts. With a mixture of scintillating betrayal, scandal and romance, the suspenseful twists and turns and obstacles that the characters have to overcome will keep the reader turning the pages.

I loved the complexity of each character, the diversity of their backgrounds, and the flashback into their pasts that made them the people they became was fascinating to me. The author provides the reader with an intriguing look into the world of fashion, finance and politics, there is enough action, suspense and romance interwoven that keeps the reader's interest. Who doesn't love reading about the glitter and power that comes with the beautiful, rich and famous? If you scratch below the surface of their individual successes, you'll discover that not everything is what it appears to be.

Meltdown is a fast-paced and entertaining story of romance and suspense that will leave you satisfied in the end.

I received a copy of Meltdown by Tara Thompson in exchange for an honest review.
This book is about four individuals whose lives connect at some point and who also know each other, a supermodel, Nyssa, from questionable background who wants nothing to do with her past, an oil baron, Steve, whose carrying his father’s legacy and a self-made billionaire, Demetri whose moving from his past to Aislinn, a super intelligent Wall Street banker.
I thought this book was awesome, my favorite character was Aislinn. She was the least superficial of the four. The characters were all thought out and they are each strong in their own way, Steve for me was selfish, yep that’s what I said, and Demetri being self-made had all the qualities and inner strength that made him who he is. Nyssa, boy what a past she had, she overcame many things to have the success she now could enjoy, but was she really happy or just scared to be found a fraud.
A recommended read, most of the characters had to overcome many obstacles to be as successful as they were and this book shows that hard work really does pay off.

I really enjoyed “Meltdown” by Tara Thompson. The story picked up immediately and I thought it was really well written, and appreciated how I got a clear view into each of the characters’ lives. I liked all the characters in different ways, but Aislinn was by far my favorite female from the beginning. As for my favorite male character, I loved Demetri. His mysteriousness and forcefulness reminded me of a softer Christian Grey and I didn’t mind it.

While there were a bit more characters than I typically like on one read, I liked how the book few by without me getting them too confused.

If you’re looking for a quick summer read, with a little mystery, I highly recommend “Meltdown!”

I give this book 4 stars!

Tara Thompson is now on tour with CLP Blog Tours and Meltdown

Smart chick lit is a favorite of mine, and I feel that Meltdown can be put into that category. While of course there is talk about romance and betrayal and fashion and love, there is also political situations and some deep discussions on the financial crisis that are weaved in throughout the pages. It was interesting to get into the lives of all the characters highlighted, as they are quite diverse and their worlds are unique and interesting. Sometimes it was a tad overwhelming how many people we get to know and keeping up with all of their storylines, but it still made for an interesting read. I hope there is more coming from Tara Thompson.
