While other children played with toys, watched TV, and spent memorable time with friends and family, a little boy struggled to survive. This unforgettable memoir chronicles how one child's spirit refused to die, even at the hands of relentless abuse. It is a story of triumph and survival, and the value of one's strength of spirit. \n
While this is a compelling true story and yes child abuse and abandonment is a deplorable thing because the early years of a child will determined how a child grows up to be an adult with survival skills that sometimes can lead to a number of unhealthy life mechanisms I must say that I sympathize and value the narrative. My issue with this is that the author lacks intellectual discernment and is, in my view, an uneducated hypocrite who supports someone who has inflicted pain and suffering of immigrant children being placed in cages like animals. I have interacted with the author on a social media platform and this man lacks a deep understanding Keynesian economics and supports stances that benefit his now found privileged life. This man lacks intellectual critical thinking skills and advocates the philosophy that the US must be feared again. Trying to engage with someone who has neanderthal and apocalyptic thinking and is infected with finding blame on immigrants and his support of Christian Nationalism which is the root of the ontological reality we now live in is quite deplorable. The book has value indeed, but the author seems to hide his true inclinations behind his story. This man lacks the basic principles of intellectual honest sincere exchange of ideas and has absolutely no clue about the internal and external societal factors that affect the vicissitudes of life. I believe credibility is a function of walking the talk and the talk does not reflect the actual walk.
What is up with these crazy foster parents???? Why are so many of them abusive and conniving?? I guess there is a large majority of abusive adults in the world, and children, whether biological or not, are easy targets..... I dunno. Sad, sad story.
A compelling book that is his true story. I marveled that he became so successful and positive considering the odds were stacked against him by a sick aunt. There is a special place in hell for this woman..
It is listed as a true story and it probably is ... but I had some doubts about it. It is sad to know that children are abused and mistreated every day in our own country and yes our own town!
