BOOK THIEVES is an academic and religious mystery novel of about 108-pages (37,462 words).
Pat Music - a private investigator and security consultant - tracks a series of rare book thefts at the small but elite Shadyside Women's College, at a nearby religious bookshop, and in the working-class community where he grew up.
He narrows his search for the book thieves through probing interviews with many odd and colorful personalities, including victims, bystanders, and suspects.
Meantime, he learns about the peculiar world of valuable rare books and antiquarian booksellers, the secret lives of the college's eccentric professors, and the dreams and fears of ordinary blue-collar folks in the old neighborhood of his hometown.
His investigation also takes on a spiritual aspect as he examines people on both sides of the crimes and their mysterious personal motivations . . .

I like a mystery with a good story, an academic or religious setting and characters that could be real. This book is all that, plus it has a nice orientation towards books. I will look for more by this author.
