Macabre découverte à bord du fameux « train bleu » qui mène vers la Riviera les riches vacanciers : Ruth Kettering, la fille du milliardaire américain Van Aldin, a été assassinée dans son compartiment.

Fuyant son mari avec qui elle ne s'entendait plus, elle allait rejoindre le comte de La Roche, loin de se douter que ce séduisant personnage était très surveillé par la police. Or le somptueux collier offert à la jeune femme par son père, et dont le plus gros rubis est le célèbre « Cœur de feu », a disparu...

Mais pourquoi, s'il ne s'agissait que de dérober le joyau, avoir eu le raffinement morbide de défigurer la victime ? C'est ce détail qui va conduire Hercule Poirot à éliminer les suspects les plus évidents...

This best-selling author of all time wrote 66 crime novels and story collections, fourteen plays, and six novels under a pseudonym in romance. Her books sold more than a billion copies in the English language and a billion in translation. According to Index Translationum, people translated her works into 103 languages at least, the most for an individual author. Of the most enduring figures in crime literature, she created Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple. She atuhored The Mousetrap, the longest-running play in the history of modern theater.

Je ne connaissais pas cette histoire d'Agatha Christie. C'était rafraichissant de lire un de ses romans sans en connaitre la teneur, en tout ou en partie. Je n'ai jamais deviné qui etait l'assassin, j'ai ete tres surprise par le dénouement, ce qui est bien. J'ai beaucoup aimé.

Toujours surprenant et indéchiffrable ! L’art d’Agatha Christie est de nous surprendre c’est encore une fois le cas dans ce livre. 📚
