I wanted to remember important years in history and this book was exactly what I was looking for. The illustrations keep you enthralled and you pick up many little 'gems' along the way. Of course, it is very concise, so it barely scratches the surface of many events past. Yet, that enabled me to dive deeper online or just turn to the next page. All in all, I've managed to remember 600+ years of different events.
I understand when you're trying to cram the entire history of mankind - with pictures - into one volume, you're not going to have much in depth writing. There's just no room. What I don't get is the choices the editors made as to what did get in and what got more space. Julius Caesar warrants a passing mention, the English civil war receives a surprising amount of coverage, Thomas Jefferson is done dirty, and of course there's always room for wokeness.
I had never seen on like this before and it does it's best to cover the world. If you like dictionaries and encyclopedias, or one volume works, this is for you.
