Abby Green spent her teens reading Mills & Boon romances. She then spent many years working in the Film and TV industry as an Assistant Director. One day while standing outside an actor's trailer in the rain, she thought: "there has to be more than this". So she sent off a partial to Mills & Boon. After numerous rewrites, they accepted her first book and an author was born.

Sorry but not as riveting as this author’s books usually are. The pacing felt off and I didn’t find the chemistry between them as believable as normal. Won’t stop me reading more of AG’s books though.

Loved the beginning/first half and the hero and heroine here. Walks the classic/cliche tightrope well with the occasional wobble into cliche.

Second half: bit too much focus on the sex scenes for me, lacks originality in places and the relationship stays static for too long which impacts pacing.

First Mills & Boon I’ve read in a while. Took me some time to get back into the M&B mindset. Bit difficult to read sometimes when you’ve spent years reading about women who kick butt (and having to be that woman in your own life) to go back to the submissive protagonists.

Book was good, chemistry between Vito and Flora was sizzling. Enjoyed it.

What happened? Abby Green is one of my favorite Harlequin writers but this one doesn't live up to her normal standard of riveting and captivating story telling, it's a choppy and abrupt read, but after 817 books, I can understand how the craft may not be as interesting as it used to be

But also just kind of generic. Safe. Nothing that made it special enough to bump up to a 4. Nothing particularly memorable. For that reason, it was kind of a slow read.

Slow and too much bed time. Stuck with it because Abby Green is usually very good, but this is a blenderized mash of all the current tropes: H doesn’t want love because people die (grow up) and h turns out to be beautiful, smart and good. Yeeuck.

First half was great, very interesting. The second half was pretty boring.
Flora was a likeable character but Vittorio annoyed me a lot during the second half, he's a complete asshole. To be honest, I wanted her to end up with someone else because she deserved better.
