Breeze in to Escape, where every sense is seduced and every desire is fulfilled… This adults-only Caribbean island resort may cater to your every need, but it's also a business. And what could be better advertising than tantalizing photos of a real couple on their honeymoon? Unless, of course, the couple is faking it… Graphic designer Lena Fuller fled the chaos of her ruined wedding with her best friend, filmmaker Colt Douglas. But she wasn't expecting the "honeymoon" her ex arranged would be a weeklong photo shoot. As the sets become more intimate, Lena and Colt find that their libidos are slipping deliciously out of control. Sure, they can fake it…but when the week is over, will they be able to forget it?
Double winner of the National Readers Choice Award, Kira Sinclair writes passionate contemporary romances. Her first foray into writing fiction was for a high school English assignment, and not even being forced to ready the love story aloud could dampen her enthusiasm...although it did make her blush. She lives in North Alabama with her two amazing daughter, their pet chinchilla and hedgehog. She loves to hear from readers at Kira@Kirasinclair.com or visit her website at www.KiraSinclair.com
First the positives - The writing style is awesome. Kira Sinclair keeps it from going into the melodramatic line, masters dialogue, doesn't get cheesy, and keeps it modern and intriguing with word choice. The island setting was beautiful, alluring, sensual. The characters were likeable, even the "bad ones", who came across realistically enough and with their own unique quirks.
For the negatives, sensuality was entered much too early so there was little to look forward to later and on and it became repetitive and dullish during naughty scenes because of this. There was personal tension on why they thought the relationship couldn't work - and yet to me the base tension and reasoning did not hold enough oomph for this to be a novel of this length. More drama and obstacles added in could have made the plot more intricate and with higher tension. This way you could have had higher suspense, wanted to keep reading further, and the pacing would have sped up considerably.
Overall a great writer and I'm eager to see her other stuff, but this plot did not hold enough juice for me to keep it as intriguing as I usually like.
Wyn and Lena were suppose to get married, they were standing on the altar when the priest asked "Does anyone object to this union" when Lena's cousin said yes because she'd been sleeping with Wyn for two months. Lena felt relieved but also angry, so she slapped Wyn twice and ran off to her honeymoon with her best friend Colt.
When Colt and Lena got to the island of Escape, they realized that everything was not going to be simple. Wyn apparently arranged for them to have a photo shoot but Wyn wasn't here, Colt was. So they got a bit romantic and tried to make it work, only to fall in love. Then Colt and Lena walked away from each other but is that truly what they wanted?
I actually loved this one so much, the character were real, it didn't seem fake at all. I'd wonder if it's based on experiences of Kira Sinclair and her romance life because it was that good!
An Ok friends to lovers story set in an over the top island resort. Good escapist reading; think Hallmark movie. I would read more of the author when I want a mental vacation.
3-3.5 stars. This book follows the friends to lovers theme, a jilted wedding forcing Colt and Lena to take her honeymoon holiday in the caribbean. A dodgy deal by ex Wyn has Lena and Colt pretending to be married for publicity. The latent sparks in their long term friendship are brought to life - but will it last? I enjoyed the book, its a romance so you know the ending going in and the first in a 3 book series. Wyn ended not being such an idiot which is a nice change for the person in his role. Also fun to spot the next couples in this 3 book series - off to see if I'm right!
I loved the book. Lena and Colt were already at least half in love with each other before they were thrown together to pretend to be a fake couple. They have been best friends for years and that has shaped her life in a way. When the cemetery becomes too much for them they indulge in the other only realizing later that things will never truly be the same it ended nicely but would have loved for the story to have ended later on in their lives.
*3.5 STARS* Very cute friends to lovers story. Nothing too surprising but still very enjoyable. I listened to this on audio, and the narrator really needs to work on her male voices. they were just so unbelievable, I found myself rolling my eyes every time she did one.
Lena Fuller leaves her cheating fiancé at the altar. Her best friend, Colt Douglas, goes with her to the planned island honeymoon. There they discover the honeymoon trip was free because her ex, Wyn, had signed up to have pictures of their honeymoon used in an advertising brochures.
