Why do things happen that seem senseless? Where is God in the midst of my pain, and does He truly care about me? Why do I feel so alone in my biggest trial? How can I possibly go on in a life filled with unbelievable pain? Seeing good in the midst of suffering is difficult, and sometimes our questions drown out the promise that God is working for our good. Yet when we look more deeply through our pain, God’s mysterious ways stretch us―because it’s often there that we catch a glimpse of Christ’s cross. Martin Bass understands such doubting all too well. His much-loved sister became the victim of a drunk driver and was left a quadriplegic. In Our Dark Night of the Finding Solace Through Suffering , he shares the compelling story of navigating the aftermath of his sister’s horrific accident, including multiple hospitalizations, disability, and court hearings. After emerging from his own dark night, Bass is able to offer readers real and practical ways to discover comfort through a dynamic encounter with Christ. Healthy coping in the midst of suffering can be achieved through honest sharing about our physical, spiritual, emotional, or relational obstacles. Each chapter concludes with a short devotional to help jump-start readers on the road to grief recovery.
This book is based on a true story. It's about a family that went through hard times when a car wreck made the author's sister a quadriplegic. I think this book must have been very healing for the brother to write.
