4.75 stars. Carla, the female human lead, was struggling on Earth. Being abducted hasn’t been a bad thing for her - the being who found her crashed pod has become her best friend/sister, and they’ve got a good con going, which keeps them in food.
Ari, the male alien gargoyle lead, accepted a ship full of treasure in exchange for committing to finding and freeing at least twenty enslaved beings, one of whom is to be a human female named Darla. Convinced he’s located the female in a bad situation, he makes a deal with the minion attempting to take her back to his boss, leaving behind the female with her who was acting as her owner. But it’s the wrong female, and she’s horrified that he “liberated” her and left her friend behind.
Determined to get her friend back from the local villain, Carla convinces Ari to help her. Neither expected to feel any real emotion for the other, especially since they’re both carrying trauma from childhood parental abuse, but Carla becomes very sure that she wants both her people safe at any cost, whilst Ari is willing to sacrifice himself for Carla’s safety, freedom, and emotional well-being…
This story is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy, sci fi romance on an ex-prison planet. The story stands alone but is enhanced by reading the others by the author in the same series. I enjoyed Carla’s self-awareness and her flexible morality in light of her situation. I adored her loyalty. I enjoyed Ari’s genuine care masked by his aristocratic manner. I enjoyed the relationship development, and the intimate scenes. I chuckled at the banter and playfulness, as well as the moments of deep sharing. I’d be curious to see a story with Carla’s friend as the lead. I enjoyed the happiness of the ending.

Flirty, fun, snarky, and steamy - perfect!!
“She broke into his cabin in the middle of the night and held a blade to his throat and threatened to murder him in any number of creative ways…She was exceptional. Admirable. Delectable.”
Engrossing, highly entertaining story of Ari, an alien with gargoyles attributes who is ultra charming but has deeper undercurrents. As does Carla, a human who has known her own share of disappointments. After she is abducted but escapes with the assistance/teaming up with the “sister of the heart” Poppy, life is looking up. However, danger lurks and they are separated. These events throw her and Ari together to save Poppy and help Ari also. Love that the story has a dual POV because they are both so admirable-interspersed with humor and just the right amount of bloodthirsty goodness. Caught myself laughing out loud at times which on a plane is interesting 😅. Steamy times too (Ari has a tail-need I say more😉) I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

loved it !! love this series !! love Carla and Ari... this is their story.. a fast paced action packed drama on Reazus Prime... Carla has been abducted by aliens.. before the ship exploded , she was put into an escape pod... this was the best thing to happen to her... really ! she didn't have a life on earth..here she's living her best life..ok a better life as a con artist... Ari is a gargoyle like alien.. he's sent to look for Darla , a human female... to rescue as many human females as he can... he really wants to be a hero... so good !!!

This was a fantastic book and I loved how strong and independent Carla was and made to best of being kidnapped and lives on Reazus Prime and became a con artist with fools wanted to help the scared human female while her partner in crime steals from them until she is caught by a Gargoyle wanted to save her from Reazus Prime and yes she finds him very attractive and thinks about what she could do with his horns buut now is not the time she needs to save her friend. Ari is on a mission to save Darla and any others females but what he doesn’t know is she doesn’t want his help but tthe attraction is off the charts as he offers to help her save her friend. Great book.

This is a fun and flirty and steamy romance. Carla is a strong and sassy human who is happy to be on Reazus Prime when she thinks of her life back on Earth. She and her bestie Popilyn, a Nakkoni female, have a great scam going until Ari comes into the picture. That's when things go wrong and she and Ari now have to save Popilyn from the evil Tavat. AS they make plans to save Popilyn, Carla tells herself she is not attracted to Ari. What an adventure they go on! How are they going to survive? Will they save Popilyn before she becomes a zombie? Great story with a great ending!

Her no-nonsense attitude meets its match in Ari, the stone-skinned gargoyle with a heart of gold and enough charm to melt granite. Their enemies-to-lovers dynamic is full of bite and banter, and every scene between them crackles with chemistry. The humor is sharp, the romance is sizzling, and the worldbuilding is bold and gritty. Nancey Cummings strikes gold with this one—it’s equal parts snarky, sexy, and seriously delightful.

I enjoyed this story where Carla and Ari meet and then the fun really begins. I thought it was a hoot to read as Ari thinks he’s helping a poor human while Carla does not feel like a poor human and instead enjoying herself. lots of trouble, drama, and watching Carla and Ari interact and survive it all. Entertaining and fun to read with fun characters that kept me entertained to the end.

This was another fab addition to the series that both flowed well and had a great plot to keep me fully engaged. Carla was so feisty and sassy and was a great foil for Ari's stoicism as a gargoyle ;P He really had no sense of humour. Lol! Expect a fun and smexy read with action and adventure when you dive into this one :D

This is one filled with adventure and is full of danger. I don't know which luck we are talking about; it seems like our MCs had a series of unfortunate events. Our FMCs thrive in the alien world; her earth life was boring, and the alien world was filled with danger and adventure. Best of all, she found her love.

Luck favors Ari and Carla
A snarky girl from a badly broken home gets abducted by aliens and ends up on a lawless planet. Lucky her!! A Khargal with a warrant out on him runs into her, then a fracas breaks out. Lucky him! With all the trouble they get into, all the trauma and drama with monsters, crime lords, zombies and con games, they manage to get together, and (even better) keep it real. It takes them a whole book, though. Really, it makes for great reading. Nancey Cummings voices her characters perfectly in this improbably James Bond-ish steamy alien romance.

I love reading books by Nancy Cummings! Her books flow well and are easy to get lost in. I love a feisty heroine like Carla! Ari was perfect for her as he had no sense of humor and was so straight-laced, which was perfect for a gargoyle! The book was sassy and sexy. Loved it!

With a Nancey Cummings book, you always get well written prose. This was a solid five star read that had me wanting more. The plot is fast paced and so enjoyable. The characters are delightful and so full of emotion. I could not get enough. Download and enjoy❤️❤️❤️❤️

I loved it! It's quirky, fun, and also has some action. Carla is feisty, and she sees things finally going her way. Ari just wants to help when things go wrong. This makes for an eventful adventure for these two as the story progresses. *I was gifted and Arc for my honest opinion.*

I loved reading this! I couldn’t put it down once I started it because I just had to know what happened next for Carla and Ari! Amazing story and an HEA! Highly Recommend!

Cute story. Ari and Carla start out on the wrong foot. He saves her thinking she is someone else. She is mad that he 'bought' her while letting her friend get grabbed by the bodyguard henchman of a really rich dude. Now, Carla wants Ari to help her get her friend back, even though the rich guy has likely zombified her brain. That will be easier said than done, but Ari is falling for this strange human woman and he is sure he will have no chance with her unless he aids her in her quest. Of course, he may get both of them killed...but she is so cute when she threatens him. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
