Poppy needs a place to hide, the more remote the better. She doesn’t need a new man in her life.Angus has definite ideas about what a lass needs, and it doesn’t include keeping secrets from him. With her stepson trying to get her charged with murdering her late husband, Poppy Condoloro flees her troubled past for the remote haven of Scotland’s highlands, finding work at the secluded estate of Heaven’s Gate. Hiding under the name of Macy Kennedy, her plans for privacy and a quiet life are quickly upended by an unexpected attraction to the estate’s station manager, Angus Sangster. With his firm beliefs in trust, love, and the occasional necessity of solving some matters over his knee, he soon becomes an unexpected pillar of strength when her past comes stalking her. The moment Angus lays eyes on the bonnie wee lass with troubled brown eyes and a penchant for secrecy, his protective nature goes into overdrive. He is determined to find out who or what is haunting her. But when Poppy's past suddenly catches up with her and threatens everyone at Neamh, will their burgeoning relationship survive as they navigate the dangers that follow her from across the ocean? If you enjoy romantic suspense with humor, protective males, and an edgy mystery, then this second-chance romance is for you! This book does contain mild and loving discipline, if that offends you, then please don't purchase it.
I live in the Midwest and I love cats, reading, scrapbooking, and swimming. I also love to write romance with humor, a little discipline, and other fun and interesting stuff! I love the alpha male hero, it's always present in my books, and strong feisty heroines who inevitably get themselves into hot water with their man. I am now retired and plan on getting many more wonderful stories out for you to read. I can be found in all sorts of places. The story is a contemporary power exchange romance that takes place in the Highlands of Scotland. This is the second book in the Heaven’s Gate series, but could be read as a standalone. The main couple in this story are both mature adults with grown children.
The story has Poppy aka Macy Kennedy being sent by Happy Housekeeper to help out as the new housekeeper and cook since Lucene is expecting their first child. Right before she goes to turn off the road to Heaven’s Gate, her rental car breaks down. Trying to walk, she gets frightened and twists her ankle, and that is when Angus Sangster finds her and takes her to the home of his employer and friend, Darro and Lucene MacCandish. From the moment Angus picks her up, he is smitten with her.
The story is mystery, suspense, life and death danger, with secrets and romance. Macy has been running from danger which begins after the death of her second husband, Julian Condoloro, and the reading of the will. Her stepson, Adrian, is furious that Julian leaves her money and stocks, even though he inherits the business and home. When accidents start happening, she leaves Chicago and moves to Toronto under the name Macy Kennedy. But now, she feels someone is following her, and evidence of someone being in her home sends her flying to the UK, and then traveling around until she arrives in Scotland. She will take whatever kind of job she can get, and become a housekeeper/cook.
I was hooked on this story from beginning to end. It is well written, keeps your attention, and has an intriguing cast of characters, mystery, suspense, and even romance. Poppy never expected anything from her late husband’s estate and was shocked that he left her money and stocks because they had a prenup. She had helped Julian and advised him on investments that did really well, and those are the ones he left her. But it seems that Adrian keeps contesting the will, wanting everything besides all he inherited. When her brakes go out, and she learns the line has been cut, she can’t take the chance and leaves the country—but even at that, she is worried.
Scotland has fond memories from her youth, and so she returns there, hoping to hide, but it won’t be long before she believes she has been followed. She will have to tell Angus and the MacCandish what is happening, and probably move on—but they feel staying there is safer. Angus is a widower, his late wife was Rose and called Rosie.
“So, her real name is Poppy. This must be a sign from the almighty. He’s sent me another flower, and lord—what a red-hot flower she is.”
The story has the good, the bad, and the evil. This is an intense story with so many twists and turns that keep the pages turning. Just when you think you have things worked out, something new is presented. The story will travel—across continents and during the journey, Angus and Poppy will become close—but they never take their relationship to intimacy. It will have a power exchange, with spankings, some warnings, some discipline, and even some stress release. There are passionate kissing and petting scenes. Best of all, the story does have the coveted happily ever after ending.
“Being the stone in the lake creating the ripples instead of the victim in the path of the ripples was invigorating.”
I voluntarily reviewed "A FLOWER FOR ANGUS" I thoroughly enjoyed this story my first book by this author & she didn't disappoint its full of intrigue, suspense, danger, humor, steam, running from a past, murder, twists that keeps you turning the pages. Poppy Condoloro aka Macy Kennedy after running from her stepson Adrian who's trying to charge her with her husband Julian's death, she inherits money & stocks which surprises her because they had a prenup,
even though Adrian gets his father's business & the house he's furious at what she gets & wants her to pay. Macy ends up being sent by Happy House Keeper to help out at Heaven's Gate Estate because Lucene is expecting a baby they live in the Highlands of Scotland where its a secluded place hide in Neamh. Macy runs into trouble on the way her car breaks down, she hurts her ankle, that's when Angus comes along taking her to his friend & employer Darro & Lucerne MacCandish & he's attracted to her on sight. Angus is a widower his late wife was named Rose now he meets a Poppy he thinks to himself its a sign from above, as now he has another flower & she's one hot feisty flower he likes. I definitely recommend to get this story everyone at the estate feels Poppy/Macy is keeping secrets when revealed it could endanger everyone there but they decide to protect her from the evil she faces, will she return to deal with her problems, will they get a HEA, the ending will surprise you not what was expected it's a must read you can't miss. EXCELLENT RIVITING, INTRIGUING, TWISTED ROMANCE I LOVED IT 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤
Love found when you least expect it. I really enjoyed the second story in the Heaven’s Gate Series. Fleeing from a dangerous situation Macy has no choice but to leave America and heads to Scotland hiding away at Neamh, which is the home of Darro and Lucerne from Book 1. Taking on the role of housekeeper she meets Angus, they are instantly attracted to each other. All at Neamh sense that she is hiding secrets and eventually it comes to light, possibly endangering all there. This tight knit household and their workers rally together to protect her from the evil that she faces. Heading back to America with Angus to protect her she returns to face her problems. This is a very detailed story of two 50 something people learning that life is not over after losing partners. That you can find the one meant for you if you just open your heart. Angus being a very dominant but loving man will not put up with Macy / Poppy’s attitudes especially when she is being reckless. He is not afraid to show her just what he’ll do about it. With growing attractions, truths being revealed and ongoing danger right up until the end, plus a twist I did not see this story kept me captivated from start to finish. Well worth reading. This is book two in The Heavens Gate series and it is Poppy and Angus story. When Poppy is accused of killing her husband by her stepson she does the only thing that she can and that is run from America and hide in Scotland until she can somehow clear her name so that is how she ends up as a housekeeper with the name of Macy at Heavens Gate hoping that she can keep her secret identity from being revealed but what she hadn’t counted on was Angus who seemed to see through her and when danger arrived Macy will have to reveal the secret and come clean and tell her story so that she doesn’t put everyone in a dangerous situation. Angus knew right from the start that Macy was hiding a secret and he wanted her to trust him enough to tell him so that he could help because Angus is a true protector who she can trust so when her story is revealed Angus is determined to not only protect her but also help her clear her name and also deal with the threat. The attraction and chemistry between Macy and Angus is instant and strong but with Macy’s history and baggage will it be too much for them to ever get the chance of a happy ending, well you will have to read this book to find out but you will not be disappointed with the outcome. I can’t wait to read the next book in The Heavens Gate series.
I love Brandy Golden’s stories! Poppy and Angus are older, she’s hiding from some bad people, and he’s interested in her. The setting is absolutely stunning, Angus is a great character, and Poppy needs his special attention. This is a slow burn with lots of action, suspense, and danger.
Poppy’s attraction to Angus is evident from their first meeting, but she finds him infuriating at times. He’s Scottish, dominating, and has interesting ideas about spanking. She’s loves her new surroundings, her new job is wonderful because of her employers, and her feelings about Angus are new to her. She’s a widow who didn’t have strong feelings for her husband, but she has very strong feelings for Angus. I loved how he treated her with respect, care, and wasn’t afraid to tell her he loved her. Such a great series!.

This is my first book by his author and I did enjoy meeting her characters and exploring their environment. Poppy is a strong heroine with boatloads of trouble, trying to find some peace as far away from her old life as possible. Angus is a good man, kind of set in his ways, working hard to live his best life. Neamh is almost a third character -- the setting definitely contributes to the drama and the love.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and thoroughly enjoyed the ride.
This standalone, HEA full length book is a little different to others that I can remember reading from this author. Angus and Marcie are both middle aged, have both lost a spouse through death and both have grown children. I really liked that it’s not another romance with pretty young things and loved the level of maturity that it brought to the story. There’s great interaction between all of the characters and a good storyline involving Marcie’s past. Marcie did seem a bit juvenile but that can was be explained by stress. Overall, I really enjoyed these characters and their story.
Poppy is in big trouble. A recent widow, her vengeful stepson tries to have her charged with his father's death. She escapes to the Scottish Highlands, where she changes her name to Macy, and hides out, working as a housekeeper. There she meets Angus, and their story slowly unfurls. They are a mature couple, both with baggage, finding love again. One of the best parts of the story is the backdrop of Neamh. Brandy Golden has penned another winner, and I'm truly looking forward to her next book.

I was totally delighted with this romance between a mature couple! How wonderful to read a romance where the MMC/MFC are not in college, but are middle aged & still HAWT. I found this romance to be very well written, engaged me from the beginning & held my interest until the very end. There's discipline & plenty of intrigue spiced with danger & murder, along with fascinating developed characters in a well delivered mesmerizing plot. All in all, I loved this delightfully entertaining romantic suspenseful escape from reality.
This book is written for a middle aged couple and its been done so well. Angus and Poppy have both experienced life before discovering each other, and have families to consider too. This storyline brings all of the emotions, love, laughter and sassiness into a book you cant put down. Absolutly recommended read. I just love this Author and the way she writes her stories. Cant wait for more xx
Brandy Golden pulled me right into this lovely story of a Dominant and loving Alpha man that is fiercely protective of those he loves. And ... yes Angus loves Poppy. Poppy is a woman of a certain age and she brings a history that adds suspense to the plot of this wonderful love story. I will return to this story and the Heaven's Gate series of standalone books again and again.
This is a well written book with strong characters in Poppy and Angus. The author pulled me into the story with murder, drama, suspense and danger. She adds in the romance and paints her scenes perfectly, delivering a terrific read. Loved and recommend this book.

This is the fifth book I've read written by Brandy Golden; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the second book in the Heaven’s Gate Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Poppy & Angus; he’s determined to prove she needs him when her step-son has accused her of killing her husband.
Decent story. The two main characters were mature, both having adult children. Poppy was on the run because she suspected someone was trying to do her harm after her husband died. Angus seems to be the security she needs. There are a few hills to climb but the two manage to get together. There are a few short spankings in the story as well.
I enjoyed this second chance at love for Poppy and Angus. There aren't a lot of stories out there with older characters, and it was great to read, especially since they had their HEA. Brandy Golden is such a great author; I don't think I've ever read anything of hers that I didn't like.
I loved Angus he was a typical Scottish man, Poppy was a lefthander to warm to buy in the end you love her character too. There was plenty of intrigue and plots in the story. I'm looking forward to more in the series
This is a heartfelt romance with suspense, danger, humor, a highlander, secrets, a women running and good twists. This is such a good read that I found captivating and engaging. I love the characters and the plot is intriguing and interesting.
I read for entertainment, and this book by Brandy Golden served its purpose in leaps and bounds. What a cracker of a story it was with its layered characters, exciting plot, drama, danger, mystery, suspense, murder, romance, and discipline. It dives straight into the psyche of Poppy, which gave good insight into her past and why she was struggling to have a meaningful relationship with Angus.
I loved that Poppy and Angus were a mature couple and, despite all of the challenges, trust issues, and scars, they kept fighting for a future together and were not afraid to show their vulnerabilities. I felt, at times, Poppy fought against Angus, thinking that she had too much baggage, not that I could blame her, given her history. Working at Neamh as a housekeeper in the rugged Scottish Highlands seemed the perfect solution to hide from her stepson, who was determined to get his hands on his late father's inheritance. Poppy was feisty at times with a mean right hook and Angus let her know that he did not appreciate being her punching bag.
Appearances are often deceiving, as I found out with Angus. Angus worked at Heaven’s Gate and was attracted to Poppy. It is evident that she was in trouble on the run. He was a down-to-earth man with a calm manner and easy-going nature until Poppy lost her temper or neglected her health. Then, the stern, dominant, protective man took over. Angus never gave up, and his actions spoke volumes as he supported Poppy. He gave her hope for a future despite all the odds against them. I admired that Angus did not rush or force the relationship with Poppy, knowing this was a decision that she needed to make on her own.
Just as I thought I had solved the mystery, another piece of the puzzle dropped, and I had to rethink everything again. The secondary characters played an important role and added depth to the storyline. I found the emotional journey of Poppy and Angus heartwarming and heartbreaking, but in the end, love won out.
