A strikingly raw and honest account of a love affair - and, maybe even more captivating, Manchester’s music scene in the late 70s and 80s. Reade’s tone is just as brilliant as ever, and I personally enjoyed this a tad more than ‘Mr Manchester and the Factory Girl’. The multimodal storytelling - through letters, transcripts, images, plus Reade’s commentary and contextualisation - create an immersive yet deeply intimate reading experience.
