The first music scene that appealed to the 12 year me was glam rock. Bought loads of singles, including Slade, but rarely bought albums as my pocket money didn't stretch to that. Only albums I bought were by David Bowie and Mott the Hoople. I don't think, or at least don't recall, ever having listened to a Slade album.
Went into this really not knowing that much about Slade, apart from the early to mid 70s singles, that they came from the Black Country and love cup-a-soup and crisps. I remember Don Powell and his car crash too.
Having finished this I now know so much more about them and seriously contemplating buying some of the early albums (on cd as I don't do downloads and vinyl is way too expensive).
Great music book. From the forming of the band to what they are doing now. The complete story , well written and researched. A must for all Slade fans and those into glam rock although i’m not sure they consider themselves glam !
